Metroid Prime 4: Beyond launches on December 4, 2025

No but the motorcycle parts/desert definitely did
Those are sand dunes and the cave part looks good. We need to see more, but the first person parts look amazing.

Feel free to post any picture of Halo 4 that looks better than this… And we haven't see nothing from this game yet.

2012 game.

And we can compare vehicules, gunplay, physics and ai when prime 4 is out.

Damn even star wars outlaws looks better, ubisoft took retro ass.

Dread was very much up my street, Prime Remastered not so much (although I completed it, with a guide). Enjoy 4 bros, won't be touching this one personally. Lots of great games coming 👍

I like Metroid's brand of adventuring specifically because it gives you the fun of exploration without the doldrums of open-world traversal.

They did like the one fucking thing I never wanted to see from the series.

Not that I won't still play it - I've been waiting a long-ass time for it - but my expectations have definitely been tempered.

Prime 4 was mainly developed for Switch 1, a system that is only a tad more capable GPU wise than the Xbox 360.
so we shouldn't be surprised that the end result is a game that looks like an Xbox 360 game.

and Halo 4 is the best looking 360 game as well, so reaching top tier Xbox 360 graphics at 900p 60fps on Switch 1 is pretty damn good I'd say... 🤷

on Switch 2 they then used the highest quality textures they had on hand, increased the resolution, and added a 120fps mode...

Retro Studios should have stuck with 2D platformers... yikes.
Don't give any attention to the usual asshurt console warriors, the news of Sony putting their "games" on Nintendo platforms on top of Switch 2 getting modern entries of series that were traditionally associated to Playstation like Resident Evil and Final Fantasy mindbroke some people, this is just their coping mechanism.
Sony bros living rent free in your head like that is not healthy.

This motorbike preview is what has finally intrigued me about the game. I loved Prime 1, super loved Prime 2, and really enjoyed Prime 3. Prime 3 introduced a few things gameplay wise that I really loved, in particular shield snatching with the grapple beam. Though by the end of 3 I was getting a little fatigued with the base formula.

Even after all these years, just a brand new Prime was not what I was longing for. The rumor about the game having large open areas that appeared or felt similar to Halo Infinite spoke to me. The first couple looks at the game didn't impress me but I knew all along these were just the opening tutorials. Andreas Restart kept pointing to the artwork of the game and that large desert in the background. Lo and behold that desert is indeed explorable. I don't mind wide open areas at all, as a matter of fact I encourage them but only when they are supplemented with dense zones of activity.

When it comes to Sonic, Donkey Kong, Mario, Zelda or Metroid I've always pushed the idea that you can easily pull off linear/tight experiences in an open setting but you can't easily pull off the open setting in the linear/tight experiences. It's just a matter of how it's done. Metroid having large open areas to traverse before we locate Space Pirate Silph Co or the "Secret Of" Mother Brain's Shrine sound great to me. Then if these places connect all over underground I'd be really hyped. Again it's just a matter of how its pulled off.

This might be just what Metroid needs to appeal to a bigger audience.

You can still get your tight(seriously find a new word everyone) gameplay and claustrophobic caverns. Even those 2D games had massive halls to contrast the narrow passage ways. Those massive areas almost never felt like you were buried in a cave. Otherwise we wouldn't be able to feel how free it is to move with Samus' ninja like agility and speed.

If this bike thing morphs around Samus to provide other modes of transportation that allow for all kinds of movement options I'll be happy.

I love Metroid, I really do, and it probably doesn't help that I just finished playing Cyberpunk in 4k with path tracing...but jesus fucking christ these visuals are so dated. The desert area in particular is just terrible. And that's Switch 2 footage, og Switch will be even worse.

Bad visuals aside, still can't wait to play it.

Man, being always 1gen behind, those 540p resolutions and koopa troopas have messed some of you bad.

Nintendo loyalists are worse than both xbros and Sony ponies combined, zero criticism and no discussion whatsoever to be had with the likes like you, somehow, it's always got to be about the "haters®", the 1st and only (at the ready) excuse 'cause -surely - this company can never do any wrong, amirite ?

Fucking hell man, you make me want to burn my S2

This is more like Recore a game made for ex retro members.

Open zones with dungeons, outdated combat and meh story.

Actually this sort of did it for me, finally seeing something completely fresh that doesn't feel like the last Prime games all over again. The sense of scale on the bike and transition to first person looked impressive.

Their donkey kongs are top tier, maybe 3d is too ambitious for them and because of that Nintendo killed their previous game and keep donkey for Mario deva.
