And how do you know they're part of the development process? All that's been announced is that Nintendo's publishing the next three Sonic games themselves, not SEGA. This could be Yasuhara's work for all we know. It's disturbing to see people say Nintendo is responsible for how cool this game looks when Sega has gotten their act together with Sonic Generations and Sonic Racing long before this partnership. This is just a continuation of great Sonic games, not a new beginning.
Yeah, that could be the bane of this game. I've no issue with it if they can keep consistent quality across the board, but that's not high on my list of possibilities. Still a lot of boosters and shit, too, though parkour and double-jump aren't as common as I thought they'd be (the bouncing-on-truffles in the second stage looks amazing—and important).I don't like how they aren't focusing on one style of gameplay. The second and third level being completely different from the first, which looks incredible. I wish every level focused on 3D platforming.
This. Sonic's always been a more physics-based version of Mario, even as the Mario influence got more and more diminished in the 3D games. It's a good thing they're acknowledging the advances made by the Galaxy games, since speed toggling, less pervasive homing-attack bridging, and more emphasis on platforming and multiple paths are all great things.People act like Sonic has always moved at uncontrollable speeds. Sonic was originally all about being faster than Mario but still with a sense of control which looks to be the best 3d representation here.
