I remember her descent into infamy began with tweeting that you can't be racist to white people. It's an old concept, but many people had never heard it before. That aside, with the sheer number of devs, gaming media employees, publishers, etc. who have become far too comfortable with antagonizing gamers (ie. your audience/customers) - I'd like to think she serves as a cautionary tale. Putting your personal beliefs ahead of the product and insulting customers has consequences and that's how it should be.
