I don't get it... everyone seems to be thrilled about these Amiibos and I haven't heard anything negative about them yet. Why does everyone want these things again???
I'm not understanding how this works, exactly. They're like expensive and high quality happy meal toys that have a chip in it to allow you to play with a persistent AI character? Why can't this just be done in games without Amiibo? I'm not a Super Smash Bros fan, but what's the difference between choosing to play as/with Link in the game and using the Link Amiibo? How might this work in MK8?
Well they are also collectibles, and they serve one very interesting point in-game. They are training buddies/friend/rival/teammate.
Based on the trailer, the more you use to fight against other Amiibos, or yourself or someone else, the stronger they become. And the stronger they become, the more difficult they are to fight against when you wish to fight them.
You also get to personalize there abilities and fighting moves. There is apparently other stuff we can do to customize them in-game but we have yet to hear what else that is.
So I guess the cool aspect of this is that it's more than just a collectible little figure, it's also your friend/rival in a way. And that has a lot of value with people.
