I think it's just you, especially with Cap 2. Winter Soldier is the least Marvel-y movie of the recent bunch, lots of people like how the Russo brothers handled the atmosphere, and it's universally praised too!
I felt it was incredibly boring. There was no sense of urgency and the pacing was really off. Maybe it doesn't help that being a comic fan I knew who the Winter Soldier was from the start and that I knew they'd never kill any of the main group.

I never really connected with the first Iron Man movie as much as others I guess. The third one is the only one I really liked.

To me Ultron outclassed all of them except Guardians and Winter Soldier so those three are the upper tier ones IMO.

I don't know whether it is cape movie fatigue or Marvel has lost its edge, but the last four Marvel films I've seen haven't kept my interest. I wouldn't say they are bad, but I don't care for them.

Iron Man 3
Thor 2
Captain America 2
Avengers 2
Of that list, the only one I didn't care for was Iron Man 3, pretty much the only MCU film I genuinely dislike so far (a lot of people seemed not to like IM2, but I certainly preferred that over what we got with 3). Couldn't care less about the Mandarin twist, as that was one of the few things I found entertaining about it. Thor 2 was okay, but I liked the first one better. And Cap 2 was easily one of the best MCU films.

Having just gotten back from Avengers 2, while I liked it, for me the first one left more of an impression.

Just got home myself. I really enjoyed it quite a lot but I can see why there would be those disappointed but it ended up being a very solid film.

I'm more surprised at Ultron himself given most of the complaints but I found him to be rather engaging. A shame with his
relationship with the twins as you could see he honestly liked them. If anything Ultron is more tragic I would say.

Vision though, oh wow. I really liked how he came about
with Ultron wanting to be more human. "To look up at the skies and see... hope.". And then that shot of Ultron doing just that later on. Wow.

I dug this movie very much.

8/10

Here is my updated ranking of the top MCU movies as of today

5. Thor 1

For all the Whedon hate, this is the most comic booky movie released so far in the MCU, and I'm not saying that as a bad thing. I could easily see the stuff happening in this movie appearing in the panels of a print comic book I have.

Guardians of the Galaxy was an awesome Sci-fi movie

The Winter Soldier was an awesome action thriller

Yeah no. Never. I a million Years. WS/DD aside Marvel movies are cartoons from their great source material. They're better than Transformers because they have a heart, characters are endearing and actually seem to be made by homo sapiens, but it's not because they are more intrincate or tense or so on. I'd argue Transformers have better cinematography than some Marvel movies, however I think that CA (FA) is the best looking of the bunch and maybe one of the best looking MCU movies.

I may go see it tonight. Is there anything after the credits or was Whedon telling the truth about there not being anything?

That is how I felt as well. I appreciate the variety in style recently and disagree with those who say every Marvel movie looks/feels the same.

But yeah there were many fun scenes and shots in Ultron that felt right out of a comic book and left a smile on my face. Somehow it toed the line between fun and believable very well.

Saw it earlier today...

Was going in just expecting/wanting a fun, popcorn flick and I got it. But I still can't helped feeling disappointed. It didn't do anything bad but didn't really do anything good.

It all kind of feels phoned in, paint-by-the-numbers...even down to the boring mid-credits scene. Total filler movie to pass the mantle without doing anything extreme? The film/series feels like there is no weight to it.
Everyone is untouchable, the only person who dies is a brand new person who happens to be being used by FOX oh Marvel, Helicarrier's EVERYWHERE (who cares they were made to seem immense in first movie and immediately blow up and then again in the next movie just to be blown up..but look there they are again so they can write in a way to save people), and same action scenes. I'm glad Whedon is gone so we don't have to do another cheesy camera swirl, circle fight scene.

I'm just expecting more from this series and just getting flashy superficial stuff. Am I expecting too much from a film series? And the scene between Black Widow and Hulk in the house just felt so awkwardly bad. Never really read about Ultron but felt odd having a big, bad robot be so human like, felt off and almost like he was Megatron.

It isn't bad, it just plays it safe. It is pretty funny how much this sticks to the joke-Marvel formula. I jokingly told someone that on Thursday and that is how the movie goes. Maybe Whedon was "forced" to do another and he was like, "let's just copy/rince/pasta this bad boy and be done with it?"

1. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
2. The Avengers
3. Iron Man
4. Guardians of the Galaxy
5. The Avengers: Age of Ultron

Mine would be.

1-Captain America Winter Soldier
2-Guardians of the Galaxy
3- Avengers: Age of Ultron
4-Iron Man
5-Avengers

They are really close though, great movies overall.

CURRENT MCU favorite movie order would be...

1. Guardians of the Galaxy (but that's cheating, it was Star Wars and not a Super Hero movie)
2. Iron Man 3
3. Captain 2
4. Iron Man
5. Ultron

I don't know if I liked Cap2 or Iron3 more. Ultron only beat out Avengers because it actually had a few good jokes and Hulkbuster fight was pretty cool. List would be completely different if we included all "Marvel" movies.

This didn't do much for me, not that it was terrible but the action was pretty run of the mill and the pattern of there being hundreds of enemies and the heroes disbanding them in perfect sync is getting a little old. Maybe that's the problem i have with the whole film, it feels a lot like something I have already seen. The more evolved the marvel universe gets the less interesting it is becoming. There was also something strangely disconnected with how it was edited.

On the positive side I though Ultron was an entertaining antagonist.

I thought the first half definitely felt phoned in and
the ability of the writers to pull things like helicarriers out of thin air is part of the problem with the film.
It all just feels a bit lazy

Well went to see it. Gotta say I loved it. But I couldn't help but feel that even with the cuts it was a bit too long still. A bit too much exposition I felt. Would have loved a bit more action too.

Still without a doubt I'm preordering the Blu-ray. Damn good movie.

Just watched it today, while I did enjoy it I prefer the first one more though I need to wait until I get the DVD as I didn't fully hear the movie well.

But I will say this Elizabeth Olsen is soooooo pretty.

Shame that
Quicksilver had to die though. :(

Iron Man 3
Thor 2

I'll agree with you on Thor 2 and I think Cap 2 is pretty overrated tbh, but the other 3 are pretty good films.

While that would be great, MCU Hawkeye is not the single apartment dwelling Hawkguy we know and love.

MCU hawkeye's wife catches him in bed with a chitauri, kicks him out, he goes to live in a single apartment in brooklyn.

Bro.

Bro.

you know it will work bro.

It wasn't out of thin air. Fury said he was going to try and pull a few strings for then while they went after the cradle. Considering he's Nick Fury and has allies in Coulson, Hill, and who knows how many other high level agents, it wasn't a stretch to think Furry either had the thing tucked away somewhere or was able to outright steal it. Just because we don't see it happen on screen doesn't make it lazy.

Fury in the comics is also always about being prepared. He's got plans for everything. Fury in the MCU doesn't seem to different.

I liked it. I would probably put it in the higher middle of my fav Marvel movies. Hulk (my favorite) was awesome.

Only thing that really bugged me was Ultron moving his mouth when he spoke. I think it would have been more menacing is it was open the whole time.

Just saw it. Really disappointed. Was very clumsy and poorly paced and very lazy in terms of plot twists. Surprised the ball was dropped so hard.

This is very lazy criticism. Why do some people judge the value of a story on whether or not it has plot twists? I feel this is a by product of the rise of "spoilerphobia" culture.

You mean the cloaking hellicarrier from the first movie?

Very do-able with the RT and lack of expectations. Depends on how good Rudd is I guess.

This may change after a second viewing of AoU, but here's my top 5:
1. Cap TWS
2. AoU
3. Avengers
4. GOTG
5. Iron Man 1 or 3 (haven't seen 1 in awhile)

Elizabeth Olsen was amazing in this movie; Wanda was a great character.

Oh, and I loved Vision. He has the best (visual) moments in the movie for me. I want more of him.

I liked him too - he seemed to be the only thing fresh about AoU. But all I could think about when seeing him was Doctor Manhattan from Watchmen. They were basically the same character how Vision was portrayed.

Just watched it. Age of Ultron is better than Winter Soldier and GoTG. WS story is poor like AoU and the action isn't as good. GoTG had a slightly better story, but was too overtop with the jokes and the dancing for me. Hulk, Vision, Wanda, and Hawkeye were great and had some memorable scenes.

Waiting impatiently for it to come out here in China. Welcome back 90s, days when a game would come out in Japan and I had to wit for a localization cause I didn't know Japanese. It's annoying but nostalgic.

I'm probably among the few that didn't really like this movie. I mean it's still one of the most entretaining films of the year, and the attention to detail
Wakanda, Vision, Quicksilver and Scarlet's origin
was pretty good. But I found it quite predictible, the only surprise for me was
Hawkeye's family
wich made the character a lot more interesting for me, I don't know, maybe it's superhero fatigue.
