Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - Comic-Con Trailer

Batman is a fictional character, and Gotham is a fictional city. The people who led DC Comics to success in the late 1980s are real people. Not Batman. Because Batman isn't real. People who helped write and edit Batman comics were a very big part of that success, absolutely. But you are arguing with people as if they share your very strange mindset that these fictional characters are autonomous, sentient beings.

Actually, no... we were having a bit of Superman vs. Batman in the books banter until you decided to interject your charming "wit" and devolve the discussion into "Batman's not a real guy". Gratitude abounds for the insight.

I'm done with this, and more so with you. Besides, isn't it time for to scurry along to VooDoo donuts and to listen to bands that haven't formed yet?

This thread sure took a turn

Really? How about Hush? What of Tower of Babel?

Next.
Please. Hush wasn't a win in the slightest. Having Catwoman drop Lois to snap Superman out of Poison Ivy's mind control =/= Batman beating Superman in a fight

And it was less straight-up fight, more "distract and stun Superman long enough so Catwoman can do her thing"

What if during Superman and Batman's fight they kill even more civilians than in Man of Steel?

I bet we will see Batman roll a large grenade or bomb towards Superman, and Superman will gently float over the grenade, letting it roll behind him and explode next to a bus full of school children and the elderly as Superman maintains his gaze on Batman, similar to this.

I love when he watches it explode. It's like you can hear his inner monologue.

'Huh?.... Oh!.......Oh.... Right.'

No, see he's using X-Ray vision and super hearing so he knows exactly how many people died. Then he'll fly around the Earth backwards and save everyone of them. Maybe he even hears his future self doing that and smiles. Or would smile if Snyder was a competent director.

You mean... Jeffrey Dean Morgan?

Because if that's not who you mean, bruh, we already got the best Thomas Wayne ever.[/QUOTE]

yeah sorry, had a brainfart. He looks great in the trailer as Thomas Wayne.

I find it pretty cool that everybody is into Batfleck now. Last year everybody hated him lol
I thought he could pull it off. Gadot was always my main concern and still is.

Seems like many want a Red Hood movie, but I want Flashpoint movie with James Dean as Thomas Wayne Batman.
This would be my most anticipated movie of anything that could come out. Maybe a Batman Beyond if done right, but that's it. I think with Ben's age, a BB could be an option 10 years from now if they make him look 5-10 years older.

Also that argument above is glorious.
I hope it continues.

My daughter and I just watched MoS again because of all this BvS news. Still love it and the wait is now even harder. Carry on...

My son watches it a lot.

It's also very special because it was the first film I watched in a theater with my dad, mother, and my son. My mother hates theaters but she made an exception for Superman.

Beautiful.

Edit: Oh shit I thought you'd changed your mind.

Not at all. On a good day, Affleck is serviceable. He doesn't have the largest range outside of playing Ben Affleck.

Argo? He's Ben Affleck.
Gone Girl? Affleck.

He doesn't exactly break the mold between projects.

I won't be surprised if many people here love his Batman. Many people here still think that plank Cavill is a great Superman based on how close he looks to the comic incarnation in stills.

Well, the last few pages have been quite the read.

I for one find your opinion not worth its weight if your evidence Batman can beat Superman is Hush and The Dark Knight Returns. Those are the worst examples. I would have enjoyed the conversation more had he brought this up instead.

That's Superman taking and losing an L in one fell swoop.

okay, so it is obvious that Batman can beat Superman on multiple fronts. But who would win, Goku or Batman?

I'm not sure whether Affleck will nail the role or not, but he'll at least do "pretty good". So basically as long as it's written decently and competently directed I will be happy. Still don't feel fully sold on Cavill as Superman.

They both look fantastic though.
Haha we know. Someone even made a gif that shows the two of them in conjunction.
Wait do you have a link to this post?

How does a metal suit make Batman even remotely fast enough to land a hit on Supes. The idea of them in a fistfight is beyond dumb.

Well..to be honest..MoS Supes is pretty slow. I mean..he has superspeed, but it's nowhere near the level you can see in comics. You can still follow every move he makes with human eyes. Get some AI in the suit that will at least partially automate the fighting and Batman can easily land punches.

Just to chime in on this whole popularity contest w/ Bats V Superman... the only reason Batman is so popular is he has the BEST super villains bar-none, whereas Superman's are just not that interesting. Superman as a character is every bit as interesting as Batman, he just doesn't have The Joker/Riddler/Scarecrow/Bane/Catwoman/Penguin/etc.. running around causing havoc.

Having said that... team Batman all the way bros

Nah.

Problem with Superman is he's so overpowered it limits the amount of exciting situations you can put him in where he can't just swoop in and deal with it no problem.

Imagine the chase scene in Dark Knight but with Superman there instead of Batman, the whole thing would last 5 seconds and there'd be no sense of tension.

Batman has been popular because the presence of Batman in mainstream media has been much much more prominent as compared to Superman. Right from the 50's batman show which broadcasted all the way here in india and i presume all over the world. Superman had only 1 shitty show smallville which did not interest casual fans.

When it comes to movies again Batman has had shit ton of movies featuring top high profile actors (clooney, Kilmer, Jack nicholson,Tommy lee jones, jim Carrey) up til 2000's and then the Nolan trilogy again which just pushed the envelop for super Hero movie to another level.

Superman just hasnt had the same level of exposure in mainstream media apart from 3 or 4 movie ages ago and then the shitty Returns movie. Man of Steel has just revitalised peoples interest in Superman after a long time and if they hit the right notes with upcoming movies only then will we truly see Superman rivaling Batmans popularity.

Just chiming in to say batman has had a lot of exposure thanks to Nolan and the arkham games which have both used batmans villains gallery in an interesting way

Batmans darker tone is just interesting - you can't really trap superman in a mental asylum and correct me if I'm wrong but supermans villains are more straight forward anyway?

I'm not the biggest of Superman fans but apart from various animated series and Smallville on TV he also had a series in the 50s where George Reeves played him (and later Ben Affleck played George Reeves playing Superman) and then there was Lois & Clark where Dean Cain played Superman.

Might be some other things too but George Reeves, Dean Cain and Tom Welling stand out to me as Superman on TV.

You're forgetting Lois and Clark, but I generally agree with the rest of your post.

Edit: beaten above.... and heck I forgot the Reeves show myself just now.

honestly though, how can people defend this?

I apologise, I thought this was another Jett situation :P

I think Cavill still has a chance to prove himself.

I consider myself a casual fan but that 50s series was never braodcasted here in india and i guess it did not have the same reach as batman shows. besides Tv shows dont really have the reach and dont create interest as much as movies which where Batman movies have trumped Superman movies in quality (arguably) and quantity.

I also forgot to mention the batman videogames recently which have also added to the popularity of batman tremendously as video games are soon overtaking television shows as a medium but that is an argument for some other thread.
