Oscar worthy script they said

Snyder gonna fly they said

At least it sounds like Batman is indeed the highlight of the film.

The Greatest Batman returns next year.

Damn SalsaShark you ain't holding no punches. You were waiting for this day huh

it's a mixture of things

I didnt want this movie to be bad; I wanted it to be a different thing, both this, and going forward

hopefully it means it is a different thing moving forward, cause I love all these characters

its probably too late

other than that, there's the fact that I knew it was bad, or rather, had no faith in it, based purely on the people making it and what came before, which is a much better thing to base your hype around other than what the film is about

so, sure

Call me daft, but I really didn't see this coming.

With this being in the oven for so long, I had hoped WB would have kept a closer eye on it, especially considering how important a release it is for them.

With GL, MOS, and now potentially this, that's three strikes on WB. Do you guys really expect them to bounce back by the hands of David Ayer?

I think I'll watch it, as I intended to, and not allow critics to think for me or sway my mind in any way. You guys coming out with your pitchforks should see the film for yourselves before claiming that the film is crap. The film may very well be terrible or you just may enjoy it but you owe it to yourself to see it before judging it. Also some critics seem to condemning it simply because it doesn't fit the mold of a Marvel movie by not being needlessly funny. It seems more admirable that the movie attempted to be its own thing rather than attempting to replicate Marvel's formula and I think the subject matter should be taken seriously. DC typically has a darker tone than Marvel works so it's refreshing to see that making its way into the film.

i'm all for that too but snyder doesn't strike me as being capable of handling the themes present in the trailers. x2 did stuff similar to this years ago. likely far better than even civil war will do with it (or this no doubt, i'll see when i watch both films)

the problem isn't the tone, it's the handling of it. look at how well the dark knight trilogy was received, that shit got dour as hell at times too.

this sounds like it has the same problems as iron man 2. with squeezing a bunch of clunky universe filler into the film.

I can't be worse than Man of Steel now can it.

Edit: It's RT score is lower than MOS. shit...

The bar for superhero movies has raised numerous times since DD came out. You can't direct compare the two like that, not only because the reviews have not finished coming out yet, but because it's an aggregate of how critics felt at the time, not how they would compare them now.

Yeah, if DD released today it would probably be closer to a 5 to 10% RT.

Sure was a lot of comedy in those Nolan Batman films. must be why critics hated them.

Oh wait...

The Nolan movies worked but they were still dark and heavy. You can't really base the entire DC universe on that feel. Overall the balance of lighter tone with some darker material that the Marvel universe has so far explored is going to work out better.

Honestly. Everything these reviews are saying was heavily hinted at in the trailers and marketing. There was always a possibility it ended up better than that, but how can you be totally surprised at these reactions?

I know

Still taking my son to see this train wreck on Thursday night... can't wait! :D

GOAT post. Some of y'all are just out for blood, see the movie with your own eyes and get off the confirmation bias. It's not perfect but at least the movie brings something different to the table.

Dude's good at adapting page-by-page exact scenes from existing work.

300 worked because Frank Miller drew such evocative scenes:

Ask Snyder to do something original, and he flounders.
Yeah he did the same with Watchmen. I love that movie and will keep defending it. It gave me hope Synder could do a good superhero movie, but after hating MoS and now this. Fool me twice I guess.

Aww man. This sets the tone for a ton of other DC movies I'd be more interested in (Shazam, Flash etc) so I was hoping this would turn out reasonably good. :/
