I appear to bet getting some stuttering (will try to Fraps it tonight), but it only happens when strafing and it appears to only be HUD as well...playing with the in game video options doesn't appear to make any difference.

System specs if someone has an idea...
i7 920 @ 3.8
GTX295
6GB ddr3

its ironic it took 2days after release for ATI to get working drivers out...Same Shit with Rage..tho everyone wanted to blame id..good OLD RED team always late to the dance

If anyone out there using a controller/feels the need to use a controller, GO TO AMAZON and pick up the Logitech G-13 immediately. It has a joystick and and you can reprogram the buttons how ever you like...I was having trouble the keyboard part of kb/m, and now my problems are pretty much solved. Now I just have to get my sound situation sorted out.

exactly, so when I say people should consider putting texture to high I'm not kidding, the combination of MSAA and ultra texture quality seem go way above 1gb usage which results is crazy stuttering and framedrops when nothing happens.

Why would people use MSAA anyway? It seems to be a terrible idea.

Anyways my 4890 is 1Gb and I havent noticed any stuttering, most everything including textures on ultra, getting 30 FPS 1080P (campaign, I'm not a MP guy).

I wonder if just the fact I only use the FXAA is why I'm not stuttering even with 1GB+ultra textures.

NBgjd.jpg

My settings are the same except:

Shadow quality- ultra
AA deferred-none
AA post -"High" i think
AF=16X
AO=SSAO
Terrain quality-medium (I cant set it any higher due to not having DX11 card)

Runs 30 FPS on 1GB 4890+Q6600+4GB RAM @1080P in campaign. Have not noticed any stuttering.

I mean I havent even followed this thread that much and it seems obvious the things to do to increase FPS without losing much IQ, namely use SSAO, use post AA not MSAA. Surprised some people arent doing those things.

Better than Green's early but crappy. I've been having tons of problems since the drivers needed to play the Alpha were released.

What are these CAP3 and CAP4 you guys are talking about?

If I'm on a single HD 6870 which ones should I use?

Using these atm: amd_catalyst_11.10_preview3_win7_vista

link is on the last page..download them if you have an ati card or cards with multiple gpu's aka crossfire mode. the cap4 file adds custom configuration that utilizes the crossfire setup better

so you use the base drivers you have then install the cap4(its small) then run game it will run better

They are for crossfire (two cards) and dual gpu cards. The CAPs won't do anything for you.

I hit about 1.6 GB VRAM usage so, yeah.

That's probably what it is for me then.

Core i7 870
4GB DDR3
2x GTX 570 in SLI
2560x1600

Ultra textures must be pushing past the 1280 limit of the 570s and causing the stuttering. I'll try High textures tonight.

Thanks Dennis!

Disabling SpeedStep in the bios for my Intel quad core seems to have fixed my stuttering problems for the moment.

Game is so good when running flawlessly.

Try reducing the MSAA instead. At that resolution, a lot of AA isn't strictly needed. And turning down the texture resolution sounds like blasphemy!

I can run the SP at ultra with high FPS (looks 60fps) with MSAA off and AA post on low, but when i joined multiplayer the game was running close to 60fps at the start then it keep on deteriorating in FPS and went into single digits till the game crashes and went to desktop.

Not sure if this is the stuttering the OP mentions

Have
i7-870 (OC'ed to 3.03Ghz)
1gig HD5870 (OC'ed to 925/1300)
4gigs Ram

All settings Ultra, HBAO, 4xMSAA, 4xFSAA, 2560x1600 (resized to 1920x1200)

60 fps, no stuttering. Newest nVidida drivers. I haven't disabled Hyperthreading.

I already disabled Motion Blur, AA and HBAO, as well as HT in the BIOS and Thread Optimisation in the NVIDIA control panel.

Hopefully it's something that DICE can fix too, to save me from all this fiddling!

Ok... i have a weird problem. yesterday after i figured out what was wrong with my system (i previously had bf3 beta installed and old ATI drivers) i was up and running around 45-50fps on Ultra (had every AA option off) but today I can't even get past 30fps even if set everything to low. WTF?!?! this shit is annoying =(

AMD X4 B35 cpu @ 2.90
Stock 6870 1GB
12GB ddr3 @1333mhz

anyone help?

So I am also getting stuttering, but it is ONLY when I move my mouse. When I just fix my view and move I recieve no stuttering. It's almost like my mouse is too sensitive and it captures every mirco movement of my hand so instead of a fluent motion it's really overly sensitive.

Does anyone recognize this?

So this game is running my 955x4 at 70c. That's not good considering it's only rated to 60c.

No other game breaks 61c. I've undervolted and underclocked to no avail. Running MP on High with no AA and no AO.

Anyone know of a specifically CPU intensive setting I could turn down? My baby is going to fry, but I can't stop playing. =(

No matter which settings i try, the game has this weird stuttering going, i guess it is the same that is mentioned in the OP. The framerate doesn´t seem to be the problem though, weird. WTF Dice, Rage ran flawless since day 1 :(

Finally got a chance to install this, getting good FPS in Eyefinity-

35-45 FPS @ 5760x1200 res everything set to Ultra no AA/AF

w/ i52500k+ATI 6990

but even at that res it feels choppy for some reason.

using the 11.9 drivers with the BF3 CAP

anyone try the preview 11.10 drivers? better Crossfire support?

Can we PLEASE have a screenshot of that?

Maybe get a better CPU cooler and/or better case fans?

for single card stuttering with my GTX 580 I've found a fix for it. Go into the BIOS and disable Hyperthreading and the problem is completely gone. the fuck DICE?
what does hyper threading do for you though? does turning it off cripple any other games?

For some reason when I have the game running in the foreground, I can't take a screenshot with radeonpro, but when the game is in the background if I press the hotkey (pageUp), it'll take a screenshot of the game. Does anyone have an idea why?

so disabling hyperthreading made the game run at 60fps most of the time but it still stutters soon as it hits 59.

man Dice needs to patch this. Or new drivers

Just installed. God damn it, the stuttering is STILL in this? I can't even play the game with this occurring every time I turn around. It's disorienting.

Yeah. My PC case is basically steel mesh as it is. Good intake and exhaust. Fan keeps up with everything else. The only other program that can even make my CPU do this is Intel Burn Test.

This sounds similar to what I'm seeing. Mouse movement makes everything jittery but when I move w/o moving the mouse it looks right.

Also wondering if anyone is using 3D Vision? It's not lining up correctly for me.

Anyone with a 5870?

I have the latest preview driver and I'm getting just a terrible frame rate. 20-50 with mostly high/ultra settings on 1920 by 1080. I'm also getting a LOT of stuterring. My framerate also drops in the single digits for a few seconds at a time.

This is the last time that I'm buying an ATI card.

I have a single 5870. I get plus 60 frames on pretty much everything, running with everything on High, and only effects and textures on Ultra. The difference between high and ultra for the rest isn't that noticeable, to me at least, and the performance drop isn't worth it.

I'm also not running MSAA or motion blur (which has a significant impact on performance).

EDIT: Running 11.10 preview 3 drivers.

Cop a Hyper 212 asap! I got one for my 1055t and the hyper 212 keeps that thing super cool and quiet. The 212 is like only 20$ too.

The optimization is fantastic - runs like a dream at 1080p with my OC'ed 570 and 2500k. Usually around 45-60FPS with everything on ultra, 2xAA and SSAO.

That's great, as this is my exact setup.

What drivers are you using? What is the OC to have on the card?

With HBAO and MSAA on I sometimes get a MASSIVE framerate drop where I'll sludge around in the teens for like 20-30 seconds. It goes away if I alt-enter and then alt-enter again. Is this me running out of VRAM? I'm on a Factory OC'd 570.

going from hbao to ssao, i gained about 5fps
from 0 to 2x msaa, fps went down from 60s to 45s and from 0 to 4x msaa, fps went even further down to 34s. everything else ultra. msaa is a killer even on my 2gb 6970.

I really dont get why it's crashing to desktop every time. During the beta - not once, and now it's 100% of the time after 3-4 minutes of gameplay. Fucking SHIT

By Disabling Hyperthreading I managed to get rid off all stuttering. So at least works for me.

Everything maxed out.

Running latest nvidia drivers.

6 gb ram
MSI GTX 580 Lightning @ 940/1880/2170.
