Nothing about this system really resembles Wii U.
.
Well you don't really just reveal a console playing previous gen games, and either not make the console somewhat backwards compatible or re-release those games for a new gen.Your making assumptions by calling those games ports, but I would argue that showing 2k and Bethesda games was smart.
This was just a teaser and they aren't announcing games so I think you're reading too much into it.
To that crowd, as much as it might hurt you to hear it, IPs like Gears of War, GTA, CoD and Madden are more important than Mario and Zelda, as are the existing PSN/XboxLive/Steam ecosystems they've bought into.

i mean, it isn't built around having two screens for oneThat's crazy talk.....its almost exactly like the wiiu cept packaged in a much nicer unit with upgraded specs.
While I agree, I hope they give players who drop/break the portable a way to buy that portion without having to buy another dock.
Edit: Or families who only need one dock but want multiple handhelds.
I can understand the tablet side for families, but about the phone side:I keep seeing this. Meanwhile, outside, I see tons of people with big ass Iphone 6/7 plus phones and Samsung Notes. I see families with a kid holding a tablet in tow.
I think these comments are now reaching. Not to mention the tons of people who go out and about with small backpacks and the like. Come on now.
Actually, this is something that worries me. Does this mean that *all* nintendo games will have to be made for HD now? The 3DS was kind of the last bastion for Nintendo to be able to make non-HD games. Does this mean that we'll now actually get Nintendo's overall product halved because it's going to take larger teams and more money to create games for this thing, rather than them being able to pop out 3DS versions of franchises at a lower cost?
Wow, the name is just..wow. Maybe they can win a Darwin-Award with this name. Unbelievable. .
Wow, the name is just..wow. Maybe they can win a Darwin-Award with this name. Unbelievable.
But then to the concept. It looks as if Nintendo at least thought this thing through. You have detachable controllers, you can use it as a monitor and so on. But now the "buts" are starting.
How is this portable? This is a 6" screen with controllers. Nothing I can fit into my jeans. Nothing I want to wear around.
And how is this hybrid beneficial to me? The custom tegra chip makes it harder for devs to port games on it and we all know how it ended with the Wii U. It was just to slow and Publishers have already a 60 Mio. fanbase with ps4 and xbox one. So why would they need to support the Switch?
In the end you have a home console which is way to weak, because it has to be portable. But you don't want to play big home console games on the go, because they don't fit. It was the same with the Vita. Uncharted was a great game on the Vita. But why should I play it on the Vita when I could theoretically play it on my big screen with a great sound? The argument also works the other way. I don't need to play Pokemon on the big screen, because it's already looking bad on the small screen and you have different expectations on the big screen.
I'm not convinced.
That dumb 4-panel comic strip meme or something like that? I dunno.I don't get it
So while Microsoft and Sony are releasing console upgrades for this gen that include free patches that improve the performance and visuals of previously released titles, Nintendo's gonna release new versions of Splatoon and Mario Kart that everybody's gotta buy again?
Now I'm getting really retro...
Anyone afraid they might scratch the screen when they dock it

Welcome to page 82, enjoy your stay.Lol they already have a vid up. Watching.

The thing is, and this is not the first time I've seen you trying to hammer this point home, that this crowd you mention is not as big as you think it is and its existence does not nullify the amount of people that interested in Nintendo IPs. You're failing to credit just how big Mario and Pokémon are as brands because the Wii U bombed. The Wii U bombed for a combination of factors, like it happened with the Gamecube, but that does not exclude the relevance of these franchises.
It remains to be seen whether Nintendo can captivate this non hardcore gamer community. They did with the Wii. They did with the DS. And to a certain extent they did with the 3DS.

This isn't a mid-gen optional upgrade of existing hardware. This is a complete architectural shift.
Do you live in a place where PS4 and Xbox 1 doesn't have remasters or PS4 has BC?So while Microsoft and Sony are releasing console upgrades for this gen that include free patches that improve the performance and visuals of previously released titles, Nintendo's gonna release new versions of Splatoon and Mario Kart that everybody's gotta buy again?
Did you guys see what Laura said?

I believe the Switch supports swappable new controller sides. Suspect they're not mentioning yet to keep messaging clear.

Just imagine the possibilities of Controller schemes
So while Microsoft and Sony are releasing console upgrades for this gen that include free patches that improve the performance and visuals of previously released titles, Nintendo's gonna release new versions of Splatoon and Mario Kart that everybody's gotta buy again?
I can't imagine the mindset of someone who is actually more excited for the incremental upgrades in the PS4P and Scorpio, which don't even offer new libraries/game ideas, vs the total paradigm shift happening here. I may be drinking the kool-aid hard, but for once I actually buy the pitch for "different vs. more powerful" that Nintendo is making this time, because they're actually highlighting flexibility and diversity of use instead of some gimmicky feature like motion control. So while Microsoft and Sony are releasing console upgrades for this gen that include free patches that improve the performance and visuals of previously released titles, Nintendo's gonna release new versions of Splatoon and Mario Kart that everybody's gotta buy again?
The unification is the biggest thing for me. One machine for everything Nintendo outputs. No wasted development on separate Mario karts for home and handheld. I hope they have the option to buy just the handheld because if I buy more than one for my kids then I don't need multiple docks etc
It seems to say COOL?
