They do, but how many great ones have we seen on the Wii so far? Nintendo's first party output (as far as "core" games go, love that label) for the Gamecube was a MILLION times better than the Wii is at this point.
Gamecube had some great first party games, don't get me wrong - i'm still waiting for something as cool as luigi's mansion or eternal darkness. But all the same, in less than two and a half years we'll have had:
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Super Mario Galaxy
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
Wario Ware Smooth Moves
Mario Party 8
Smash Bros Brawl
Mario Strikers Charged
Mario Kart Wii
Excite Truck
Excite Bots (lets face it, it rocks before its even out)
DISASTER: Day of Crisis
Animal Crossing: Lets go to the City
Batallion Wars II
Geometry Wars Galaxies (Nintendo brokered Kuju / Bizarre deal)
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic games (leasing Mario characters out to SEGA and publishing in some regions)
Pokemon Battle Revolution
Super Paper Mario
Dr Mario & Germbuster
Endless Ocean
Kororinpa: Marble Mania (NOE published)
Mario Super Sluggers
Punch Out
I'm probably forgetting stuff. Thats in addition to some of the best Gamecube games being given renewed life on Wii, and all the perfectly fun gaming offered by Nintendo's more casually focussed games like Wii Sports, etc. Add the fact that a lot of those series are going online on home consoles for the first time. The third party situation is different (not necessarily better) on Wii (Mad World, FFCC My Life as a King, Crystal Defenders, Crystal Bearers, FFIV the after years, Capcom VS Tatsunoko, HOTD: Overkill, Dead Space Extraction, RE:UC/DSC, Overlord, Indiana Jones, TMNT Smash Up, Dragon Quest X, Monster Hunter 3, Sam and Max, Strong Bad, de Blob, etc)
Sometimes its hard to cut through the shovelware reality to see that it does get lots of good, or potentially good games. The kind of stuff thats sadly missing is Rogue Squadron, or Resident Evil main series, the likes of Viewtiful Joe... a lot of that is simply due to a lot of pubs leaning heavily toward HD development. But Factor 5 have got two wii games in the works allegedly, and there are likely a few years left in the thing for other games to be announced/released.
I'm confident that before Wii HD or whatever is released, Wii will have had the superior library (vs Gamecube)
