Yeah true, but you don't need to buy an Xbox to play them. These game prices will also go up on other storefronts (Steam, PlayStation) where Game Pass doesn't exist.

That's what I'm wondering. Doesn't make sense why so many territories are affected. If this traffic related then why is the eu prices going up, seem like eu is bailing out the low us prices as usual.
Their ultimate goal is to push people to xCloud, so in theory, this is the way to do it.This move doesn't make any sense to me, i suppose MS will sell some new consoles at these hiked prices, but not many.
Exactly my point. The announcement that their games are raising in price later this year (to match Mario Kart) is buried in the bombshell announcement that their consoles are going up in price over $100 each.Yeah true, but you don't need to buy an Xbox to play them.
It's tariffs. Tariffs. None of the price increases across the industry happening this spring/summer should surprise anyone as long as these tariffs are happening. No one is going to eat the cost of the increased price of selling products from overseas in the US. It's just simple, easily predictable economics. The cost is passed on entirely to us as the consumers. Most likely this is just to soften the blow of them confirming that their first party games are moving to the $79.99 price point.
It was also the point of raising the price of their console in other markets. It's only a matter of time before we see an increase in the US.Wasn't that the point of raising the price of PS+?
I can't wait for $1,000 next-gen consoles in 2027. Still cheaper than a PC but goddamn.Exactly my point. The announcement that their games are raising in price later this year (to match Mario Kart) is buried in the bombshell announcement that their consoles are going up in price over $100 each.
In the long run, they're going to make way more profit on Call of Duty being an $80 game than they will by selling Series X consoles for $700 each.

Right now PS5 with Astrobot costs $150 less than a Series X and almost the same as a Series S![]()
In the very short term. Gamepass price increases are almost certainly coming. You know I never really considered this but nothing is stopping them from making all their games stupid expensive in a bid to make gamepass more attractive and they own so much of the industry now.
Sony will absolutely be raising prices across the board. The have to now, with these tariffs.everyone is acting like Sony is not going to follow this up with their own prive hike, habibi it is a train and Sony always rides the last car
They did say that series x is their Pro console...Series X more expensive than a PS5 pro, you can't make this up
Please explain how tariffs are causing Microsoft (an American company) to sell Call of Duty (made by Activision, an American company) to increase the price of digital games that have no physical components subject to tariffs. It's tariffs. No one is going to eat the cost of the increased price of selling products from overseas in the US.
They've increased the price of GP every year for three years now, and made the Day One games harder to attain, driving more people to the premium tier. Another increase is gonna make me Nope out, for sure. Getting tired of all the money-grubbing in console gaming this gen. And now with Nintendo's pricing next-gen I'm prolly be holding onto my Series X and eventually reluctantly get a Switch 2 for Mario, but otherwise I'm prolly done with consoles. In the very short term. Gamepass price increases are almost certainly coming.
And those prices increases are more frequent then standalone game price increases.
Effective immediately.
Microsoft says "May 2025", which basically gives them until the end of the month to communicate and coordinate this with their retail partners.
No. Certainly not. GPUs and some other components were exempt, but it was quickly made quite plain that specific tariffs for them were coming as well, later down the road.Aren't consoles and computing devices and their components exempt from the tariffs?
If this was due to Tariffs MS of all companies would have shouted it from the rooftops. They're a woke AF company. They'd use every opportunity to indirectly blame Trump.
They probably just zeroed out the inventory. They knew this was coming weeks agoI was asking because Best Buy prices had not been updated. Between the time I asked that question and now, it looks like every Xbox on their site has sold out.

Switch 2 shits all over a Series S.Wow. This is worse than I was expecting. They certainly were given some cover by Nintendo's pricing for their next-gen a few weeks ago. But these fucking tariffs are really awful.
Sold outI was asking because Best Buy prices had not been updated. Between the time I asked that question and now, it looks like every Xbox on their site has sold out.

The series X is their 9th gen pro, now they're just conveying the value.lol....2TB XSX costs more than a PS5 Pro

What on earth are you saying and how it relates in any way to my post.Switch 2 shits all over a Series S.
729$ for a series x now in Canada haha wtf Microsoft
This just made my weekend purchase an out of this world deal. I bought a series x on market place locally for my son for 300$ CAD. The guy bought a highend PC and didn't need it anymore. I come back home, I notice that the controller is missing (he had taken it away to take out the batteries after showing me the console was working and forgot to put it back in the box). I sent him a message about the controller, he proposed to send me back 40$ for it which I accepted since I already had one for my PC here. Finally ended up paying 260$ CAD for the console.
Man, I can't believe this pricing, RIP xbox
We barely knew yeRemember $70 games?
Makes you wonder if those same YouTubers who cried 'Nintendo is greedy' and vowed to never buy from them will keep that same energy for MS and (very soon) Sony.$449 Switch 2's looking better every day.
If you shoot impressive loads you might be able to buy a next gen consoleTime to change hobbies at this point, might become a pornstar instead.
I really don't think people understand how much the tariffs are affecting products. read stories of small businesses who are going to be gone.remember when consoles weren't overpriced?
those were the times...
