Breaking: Xbox and Microsoft reveal global price increases for consoles, accessories — and even games

Already seeing the usual cacophony of "lol tariffs" on socials. Looks like tariffs will be the new corporate excuse for greed. Tariffs aren't making the hardware this much more expensive, and it certainly isn't a justification for raising game prices.

This is Microsoft (probably intentionally) putting the final nail in their hardware coffin and following Nintendo's new pricing model as a publisher.

Yeah... yet another reason for companies to fleece customers. First "inflation", now this. Fucking great.

The shit you posted didn't load, brah

Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition $729.99

Anybody complaining about the PS5 Pro price looking ridiculous right now (for now)

More expensive and weaker Series X and nobody complaining about how ridiculous this is.

$599 for a Series X is fucking ridiculous especially when I can still buy a PS5 Slim Disc w/ Astro Bot for $150 less. They are also charging more than the Pro for the 2TB Series X? Goddamn.

I don't see the pricing for Sony holding out unless they have moved production elsewhere.

SONY raised their prices 1st
And? What was the purpose of this post outside of shitting on Sony? Xbox raises their prices has absolutely nothing to do with Sony.

No wonder gamestop is offering like $450 for series x recently.
This actually makes more sense to me. I'm still mad I traded mine for $360

Because 1 is a new product with hardware and software that people want.

The other is a failed project with a third party first party offering which has been in free fall for years at the current bargain bucket prices.

So again? How does Nintendo pricing their products accordingly allow Microsoft to hike their own prices in this way?

Hope that's easy for you to grasp.
Bargain bucket prices, what are you talking about? Look if you honestly don't understand how these two things are related, then there's no explaining it to you. I would have thought it's pretty clearly self-evident.

Fuck, should've bought that launch Series X for BC purposes last month rather than wait on it.
Yeah, you should have, lol. Problem is for bc is they delisted a bunch of games, you can still play them but only disc versions. Splinter Cell 1 and 2, Mortal Kombat 9, Bad Company 1 and 2, Silent Hill Downpour, Skate 2, and a bunch more.

What is crazy is I got mine for free, well my mom did for signing up for Verizon internet in 2023. They were giving them away (series X, 1 month of gamepass and $50 gift card) there and at Best Buy for getting a phone. She gave me the series X as a gift, she paid nothing for it. I wouldn't have it otherwise.

It was also the point of raising the price of their console in other markets. It's only a matter of time before we see an increase in the US.

Depends on their plans. I really hope, they look to take the short term hit (from now to GTA6 release) for now to reap the HUUUUUGE rewards in 2026.

With the level of demand the Xbox consoles have, they shouldn't be anywhere near the PS5 in price, let alone equal to it or (ROTFLMFAO, been a minute since I used that one) HIGHER. What in the living fuck is going on?!

Yes dumb prices, X360 decreased in price half way i nthe generation and this did wonders for the console

The shit you posted didn't load, brah

Now you can see the $729 console in all it's glory

Sony is next. Going to PC and never back
I just built a second pc with a 9070xt and 7800x3d. It was pricey af. Once sony announced an increase to ps plus, I had to bail. That being said, I already have a ps5 pro, ps5 digital, xbox series X and a switch 2 preordered. I think I'm covered till at least 2028 if not 2029.

If Sony doesn't raise their US price then Xbox is dead in their largest market. It already kinda was with only 500k last December but now we're looking at maybe 250k this coming December with PS5 potentially at 2 million with GTA6 hype.

Please explain how tariffs are causing Microsoft (an American company) to sell Call of Duty (made by Activision, an American company) to increase the price of digital games that have no physical components subject to tariffs.

If anything, this is their time to finally put the nail in the coffin for physical game releases, now that they finally have the excuse they've been looking for all along to create a price gap between physical and digital games.
Yep

Its just a shitty excuse to squeeze more money.

And let's be honest, MS have been shitting the bed lately, they all have.

Bro you still think Xbox is still alive? They could sell it for $20 and a full year gamepass they would still trail after PS5 3 to 1

No, but in the US it actually isn't dead. It isn't doing well but definitely not dead, until now that is.

If you think PC isn't going to be affected then you are fucking delusional lol

You already have brands just straight up not selling to the US, and there's no chance that component prices don't go up. This is on top of the MSRP of stuff like GPUs being impossible to actually buy at. Games going up means everywhere which also means that the precious grey market sites that people get their keys from will also raise prices.

After increasing game prices, they will likely also increase Game Pass price closer to the Holiday season.
This is basically guaranteed more than it already was. Game Pass was already not sustainable at the current price, but if game prices go up then Game Pass will as well.

What's the uk pricing going to?

Sorry if its already been shown.

Ignore me OP has been updated. UK hikes aren't that bad. This must be tariffs right?

We're being priced out of our hobbies.

Priced out of almost everything, unfortunately.

I like Pokemon cards. Havent seen a single pack in any store I've been to in 4 months because scalpers buy literally everything.

It's either scalpers, or official price releases.

About fucking time. I waited almost 5 years to finally jump into this generation. Now that prices are finally dropping, I can join you fools in a few rounds of Redfall.

Edit, fuck me, the prices went up?!

I traded my Series X into gamestop for $420 back when the PS5 Pro came out.. guess I should have waited lol. I never thought I'd see a day where game consoles actually increased in price over their life.

Now can you finally admit that there is ZERO chance the ps6 will cost less than the Pro ? ...

And people were arguing 499, lol how cute
