CVG: Next Xbox Event scheduled for April 26th

too late and plays out quite nicely into Sony's hand. If MS won't say exact price at the event the press will flame them to death. Moreover, Sony will know and adjust the price accordingly at E3.

Actually, they can come out ahead in the mainstream press by simply showing the box.

It's happening again.

I bet it's more important to some here than seeing games and price. Good times for those folks. Naturally I expect to see all being revealed if you are 1 month before E3 or it's a huge disappointment if you don't.

the box don't matter, its just a box. as long as they say what they are doing things will be fine.

Actually it does. Will the PS4 retail package only pride with a picture of the controller and games that will not be included? No. They need to sell the console before the games.

IT'S HA... ha... ... it'a so far away :(

Time to start twisting knives... I predict this is so MS can ready a new box after Sony released its specs... I mean... Sony has a SUPERCHARGER FFS! NOWAI MS CAN TOP THAT! Too soon... TOO SOON!

Or they are waiting for more info at GDC so they know how to properly plan an announcement to differentiate themselves from the competition. We know MS and Sony have great games but I think services will be the deciding factor here - not performance or games, tbh.

I am excited but also a bit put off by that date. Too far away, must come up with a good Ballmerfication for my Avvy by then. Can't fuggin wait!

Yeah, this is reactionary to Sony.

People keep saying they've planned this months in advance are probably right to some degree but I really think they are feeling the pinch now.

We are in for interesting times.

I honestly really believe that they were not impressed judging by their tweets. Again, they always stated that they wanted sony to make the first move. Take that as you will of course.

Really isn't that far away. This month is basically over. Then once we get through March, the hype build-up in April (via next gen Xbox articles, videos, etc.) will make the weeks during the month go by pretty fast all the way up to this event.

I think what MS is doing is smart. If they have a good showing at this event, then that will carry with them into E3. Then if they have a good showing at E3, then the hype will carry into the system's launch.

Word's going around that MS is planning for a September launch. If it comes out first and at a cheaper price than the PS4 then I think that MS will do pretty well.

way too far away, I though MS would take the initiative since they were launching first and PS4 had been delayed to 2014....I agree with the poster who said this was a reaction to the PS4 meeting, otherwise they wouldn't have bothered with the, "OMG E3 Countdown!!" (Major Nelson)

???

I'm pretty sure that they were planning a pre-E3 event for the Next Xbox for a while now (before the PS4 conference).

Nah, they announced the 360 before E3 so it makes sense. It would be reactionary if it was in the next 2 weeks.

Announce the system in April, launch in September. Keep hype levels high between announcement and launch, kinda like Apple does with their products.

Sony is the only company I know of to ever show a new console at E3, Microsoft has never done that.

This pretty much shows that anyone saying Microsoft was changing their plans because of Sony were wrong.

It also shows that Sony could've waited a little longer before revealing but had their mind set on being first.

The fact that Microsoft had XboxEvent.com registered the day after the Sony event was merely a hat tip to Sony and to tell fans that it's coming.

I wish they would have done it prior to GDC.

Oh well, we'll have to live with GDC leaks and off the record comparisons between it and PS4.

In light of the Sony event I hope the first thing they say is "and this is what the next xbox looks like (box on stage)".

Yeah, I'm expecting some (silly) shot/comment direct towards Sony if they show the Next Xbox console at the event.

e.g.: "Unlike others, we actually like to show you the product we are having a big event for. Here it is..."
