Also, I really don't get why no one liked Martha. I loved her. :( She was intelligent and kinda sassy and brave and beautiful.

I liked Martha, and thought her character was terribly wasted as the season went on, until the brief moment where she saved the day...and have that all wiped from memory, since it technically never happened. RTD didn't do so hot with writing her, but rebounded pretty well with Donna.

Also, dat ass. Daaaaat aaaaaaasssssssssssssss.

Only BBC America had it, but for some reason it carried over to Netflix too. I hate it. There are few things in life I love more than the opening teaser ending on a dramatic moment and then that theme kicks in.

can't wait to see your reaction to eleventh hour, such a huge departure from RTD era Doctor Who. Even putting aside the fact that it was in HD, everything was different felt like the budget got a big boost.

I actually didn't notice what time it was, I have to go to sleep D:

Will definitely finish tomorrow and I'm gonna jump right into series 5.

The production values took a giant step forward in series 5. Planet of the Dead, Waters of Mars, and End of Time were all in HD, but still had the low rent production values of the rest of the RTD era. But once Eleventh Hour kicks in, the production quality just skyrockets. Sure, there are some turds here and there, but it is still a big improvement.

And Eleventh Hour is one of the best standalone episodes of the entire series, and a great starting point if anyone is crazy enough to skip the RTD year. RTD may have had a lot of shit episodes, but the time he ran the show is still fantastic overall and he is responsible for making Who big again.

Series 5 also has the best season finale of NewWho imo.

And I agree, Eleventh Hour is one of the best episodes of the show.

Australia's ABC2 channel has been playing catchup the past few months. Tonights episode is The End of Time Pt 2, being Tennant's sendoff.

I have to say, the first time watching this series since it was originally aired really has changed my impressions of the various partners.

I do find, with hindsight, that Donna is the best of the modern companions. I'm not well versed in the old school Dr Who people, but Donna is a far more interesting character with a better chemistry with the Doctor than any of Rose/Martha and even Amy. Amy is a close second though.

Also, whilst this is pure wishful thinking, after the wonderful Eleventh Doctor finishes his run, I really really really hope we get to see Benedict Cumberbatch as the Twelfth. Either him or Martin Freeman. Failing that, Andrew Scott (Moriarty).

John Simm, who played The Master, would have also been an excellent Doctor, given how well he played Sam Tyler in Life on Mars.

Yep, no more DWC.

I have them all saved in my hard drive for future viewing, and it's not the "Confidential Cut-Down" version on the DVD and Blu-ray sets either.

Aw, that's a shame. It was pretty cool to see everyone having so much fun on set.

Also, Cold Blood (and Dem Legs) is on BBCA.

Martha: D. Didn't help that I'm pretty sure she's the same actress who played the girl with the door in her forehead in S1.

err....

Last thought before bed: I hope S7 doesn't have the narration in it. God, that got annoying. Imagine if Jerry Bruckheimer added a narration to CSI: Miami right between Caruso's quip and "YEAAAAHHHHH!" Same effect. Plus the narration didn't even make sense for ep 11+12 where the Ponds were mostly absent.

That's only for the BBC America broadcast. The DVD/Blu Ray, iTunes or original BBC transmission does not have that.

Before I head off to bed, I'll do the obligatory companion rankings. Not gonna order them, just give them a grade:

Rose: B+. Has a few stupid moments, but also has a lot of brilliant moments too.

Rose is generally good, but every time I think about her I can't help but remember how terribly she treated Mickey and I'm like "yo FUCK Rose!"

You sure it's not on the BBCA DVDs? Because it's on Netflix Instant and they usually just dump the DVD version. It's still annoying and completely deflates the buildup from the cold open.

Which is doubly impressive given that, as I recall, the budget actually went down.

The most common day they show up is Fridays. When I lived in Atlanta one newsstand always got it on Thursday, while everyone else got it on Friday. When I subscribed it would never show up until Monday.

Safest day to go searching is Friday.

Yes most "newsstands" that are dedicated to selling magazines, etc will put them out on Thursday, when they arrive. I think places like grocery stores might have a day or two delay until they put them out.

Matt Smith appears to suggest in the latest Doctor Who Magazine, that 2013 Anniversary will be a year consisting of the remaining episodes of Series 7 (33) and a selection of Anniversary Specials for the 50th. And that Steven Moffat has already pitched to Matt Smith the basis of the 2014 Full series to him. A Couple of things this suggests, Doctor Who will return in 2014 after the 50th Anniversary and the Eleventh Doctor will also be a helm for a long time to come yet.

Well well well. .

The best companions are the ones that don't worship and/or fall in love with the Doctor (Donna kind of started to towards the end, but it was alright)

Having Moffat pitch a new series to Smith would suggest a regeneration hasn't been written /planned yet.

I guess if Smith says no, he can go out around christmas 2013.

Tennant really knocked End Of Time pt.2 out of the park, that was some damn acting! I like Matt Smith already ;p, "still not ginger"

Wilf is my favorite Doctor Who character. So much emotion in that old man.

My face at the end when The Doctor is visiting everyone:

Ten was better at playing the action movie star and the sad stuff than Matt is. Matt's better at the "random" quirky stuff.

Alright so first impressions:

I like Smith so far, he's a weird one. Kind of weird looking, weird voice, weird attitude. He seems like a little kid, kind of fits in with him just being "born." I hope the character grows to be more of the all knowing, most powerful force in the universe Doctor that I like to see.

Amy is obviously gorgeous and I have a good feeling that she's going to be a great companion. Seems like she's going to be sex'd up a little bit more than the past companions?

I have no problem with that.
