Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen PC |OT| Wolves hunt in 4K

ha , fair enough.

What's making the sky white-out? are you slightly removing blue from the image or is it bloomed?

I think it's a combination of me messing around with the brightness setting and SweetFX levels. I still need to make some adjustments to prevent that. Though these settings look good in dark interiors, so choices...

I played the original on 360 as a sorcerer. Now i want either Assassin or magic archer.

Which is the most OP for solo or boss battles at end game?

Is quite surprising how much the game benefits from the constrained setting, given its original open world focus.

I found most of the game's best moments to come from dungeons and smaller environments - the overworld added some scale, but not much else. For a sequel, I'd actually be really interested in them pulling back that open world focus further and going for a more Metroidvania approach to an instanced world.

It looks good, it reminds me of an old Project Matso enb on skyrim which done a similar thing years ago.

Assassin. Counter skills are grossly OP and you can get daggers for pretty much every element. Also gets massive str increases at level up. All it lacks is mDef but late game you can always carry 5+ wakestones around, so w/e

MA reks BBI, tho. Sadly, iirc, it has terrible stat increases at lvl up

Depends on the battle. MA tears BBI up. Assassin/Strider for climbing bosses and sitting on their weak spots, wrecking their shit. Rangers for Blast Arrow abuse.

I don't think anyone will recommend Warriors, Fighters or Mages for boss killing.

Im getting alot of cursed gear, dunno what thats about

Cursed items can be taken to Olra and purified using Rift Crystals. There's 3 different pools of items it pulls from when purifying that correspond to the vocations

Red: Fighter, Warrior, Assassin, Mystic Knight.
Blue: Mage, Sorcerer, Mystic Knight, Magick Archer.
Yellow: Strider, Ranger, Assassin, Magick Archer.

When purifying, what you get is dependent on what vocation you and your pawn are at that time; if you're a Fighter purifying some weapons and your pawn is a Ranger, the game will pull from both the Red pool and the Yellow pool.

So change both you and your pawn to the appropriate vocation before purifying. You won't always get what you want i.e. you could purify 20 weapons as 2 Rangers and only get the strider bow, but that's RNG for you.

Always save right in front of Olra before purifying so you can reload and switch vocations if needed.

Also, the purified item will always stay the same type, meaning if you're both Fighters and it purifies chest armor, you can reload, change vocations to mages, and that same piece will now be chest armor for a mage. Works the same way with weapons, if you have one cursed weapon and it purifies into a sword for a Fighter, upon reloading it will only be purified into other primary weapons (mace, staff, archistaff, daggers, greatsword etc.), likewise, a bow will only be other secondaries (heavy bow, shields, magick bow).

nothing just materials. but there is a key called Void Key up in that room when you climb the rafters, I assume its important

on the way there there is a door locked by a lever, I know how im supposed to get there but the platform is too high. I wonder if there was some boxes there I destroyed and was supposed to use to get up there, its driving me nuts

You can get to that lever by either

- running and double-jumping from the little raised alcove where the 2 skeleton mages spawned.
- sky dancing from that same alcove.
- the Magick Archer's sunburst(?) skill. The one the launches them into the air.
- the mage's vertical ice spikes, the last one can create a platform to jump from.

Ah, Cursed Dragons. They can actually spawn randomly in large locations after monsters have been killed, they come to eat the dead.

You will learn to love them, as they are the best way to dragonforge stuff.

Also, "Tis weak to fire!"

And Holy.

-- wait, might be a different one I'm talking about?

Premise: I'm still at the start of the game, got to Gran Soren while exploring a bit and doing some quests, reaching level 28.

I got an escort quest to take Mercedes to Shadow Fort (hopefully the name is right) and completed it. As I was going back the way I went, I found the Dragon in the woods along a bunch of hobgoblins and after getting close I got an ambush quest.
I started killing the goblins and whacking the dragon. Through luck and perseverance I got it down to 1 or 2 dots, at which point he started doing really mean stuff and wiped the floor with me.
I reloaded and retried the fight, but now the dragon keeps flying away after a brief scuffle, instead of just getting uo in the air and doing a fire attack like the first time.
Is there a way to make the dragon stop flying away? I've retried it enough that I'm at the point I want him dead just because.

If you only want the AO, check UseOriginalPostProcessing, Use OriginalObjectProcessing, and then uncheck everything other than Ambient Occlusion. After you make changes, click save at the top, then apply changes right after. It'll freeze up for a few seconds to reload everything, then you're good.

Thanks. Which d3d9.dll do I use then? The enb one or the sweetfx one? That's where I get confused.

Nah, sounds cool and all, but that why we have Souls games, they seem more what I can gather from what you mean.

though I wish they would either scale back or make traversal a bit less tedious. Maybe add mounts or something. Portcrystals are ok too, because I'd rather portcrystal and a normal open world have them than a huge open world with fast travel.

Hit the wings. I recall someone saying they drop a material when they are sufficiently broken for it not to fly away anymore.

yeah I figured, but is there a way to tell if something is clothing or armor? Cause clothing seems to provide beneficial stats does it not?
Somewhere on the bottom of the screen there should be a spot that tells you whether its armor or cloths when youre un the equipment section.

Man I can't even google basic shit about this game without coming across min/max crazies everywhere, saw some guy asking about Mystic Knight stats and someone seriously replied saying "play sorcerer lvl 10-200" because yeah that's totally the best way to play mk lol.

Yeah ignore them. It's counter-productive as hell and just not fun. Okay now you're at level 200 and your stats are perrrrrfect for MK. Congrats! Except by reaching such a high level you now probably played the whole game and got the best gear already and have nothing else to do. xD

Welp, I finished BBI. I killed
Death
and
True Form Daimon
.

I think I'm finally ready to finish the story, lol.

so as a mystic knight, is it worth it to go for those elemental type maces and shields? For the maces I mean the ones that give you both phys and magic attack, and the shields seem to say something about permanently being one element?

Or should I just stick with all physical weapons?

Finally managed to 100% the game (achievement wise). Just need to work on improving my pawns equipment and getting the right set of skills/inclinations to make him an effective tanking pawn.

RC is becoming a problem though, so if anyone needs an overpowered tanking pawn:

ID: http://steamcommunity.com/id/dontmm/
Pawn: Rowsdower (yes, the one from The Final Sacrifice)
Level 200 Fighter w/ Mitigator and Utilitarian (may need to fix this once I get home. May have become Mitigator/Scather).

get fucked BBI cockatrice

Stand on the balcony. When it flies up, shoot it in the face or wings with something. It'll fall down.

Repeat.

I did this a few times until I remembered to bring the right consumables.

You need more friends! Every time I boot the game I get a few hundred thousand RC. I have something like 14 million atm. I added you for some BBI goodness.

yeah i never understood that. I just imagine these guys min-maxing everything until lvl 200, hit an enemy, smile for the damage, and close the game. Doesn't make any sense to me.

these sewer areas arent the best place to run out of lantern oil tho >_>

Thank you, just finished the Thief quest before talking to the duke, didn't take long luckily :)

You're welcome. Took me three tries to catch him when I accidentally noticed that you can just hit him and then grab him instead of just trying to grab him. I missed Dying of Curiosity. Doesn't seem to be too important or is it?

Finished the game as Warrior, it made everything really easy. Did some everfall and was getting bored, so changed up to magick archer. Bought all the best weps and armor for it and went in to everfall with lvl 5 vocation MA and couldn't kill anything. Hydra boss wasn't getting scratched at all. What's wrong? Is level 5 vocation too low? Lvl 46 atm, all my dragonforged stuff is warrior stuff.

You can purify an Elite Lantern, it has a wider radius and longer life -- stacks with the Ranger lantern augment as well.

There's also the Ring of Desiccation which make you immune to drenching.

I am totally overwhelmed with all the stuff you can pick up... And end up being on very high load very quickly.

I have NO idea what most of it does and no clue how to craft something etc.

- The 3 key skills you want are the explosive bolts, the 6/9 shot and the ricochet shot. Figure out which of the 3 the enemy is weak to, and spam that.

- If you leveled exclusively as a Strength vocation and then switched to a Magic vocation, your damage is going to suck ass till you get a nice weapon.

- Hunt dragonkin to dragonforge your MA gear. They're piss easy. Abuse buff consumables.

Thanks, that helps a lot. Does staff or dagger matter much or are they personal preference? I'm using staff atm for the cool levitate and to keep ranged at all times. Also do dagger/staff magick stats count towards your bow damage?

I've been using daggers with my magic archer. I don't really see much point in having 2 ranged weapons, so it's nice to have something for close encounters. Daggers are fun too.

dead, the better BBI gets the more I wish the rest of the game was like it. I want a DD2 that is just this :/

edit: and after this boss theres a shortcut back to the very beggining, proper Souls style. As it should. I love this place
