Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen PC |OT| Wolves hunt in 4K

I just found a secret, that everyone has been sleeping on.

Goblins hate
both
fire
and ice!

Real reason for posting: I already expected the game to perform better than the consoles, but going from 15s - 30s loading screens to 4s is pretty nice. What's also nice is being able to use the DS4. I have no idea how I played it on the 360 using the 360 controller, because I tried that again today and just yuck. I don't like having to use the bumpers for skills, and while I know you can switch the triggers with the bumpers, that is about as bad too. The DS4 triggers aren't nearly as nice as the 360 pad, but they aren't awful, and the L1/R1 is sublime in comparison to the bumpers.

I don't think I've ever explored Cassardis so thoroughly, haha. Playing without a map is working really well so far, we'll see.

GAF, why does my wired Xbox Elite controller not work the vibration setting? It works fine in Nuclear Throne. I'm using whatever drivers are built into Windows 10 and I've never installed any other drivers.

so there's a difference between going around with 2 and 3 pawns?

also i don't have a fucking clue of what the 4 orders actually do
Xp for lvling and class I believe.
Order just order pawns to do something but it might not work due to inclinations and stuff.

That's a Capcom thing. If you notice in their games going all the way back to Final Fight or SFII, they put in hit pause or slow the game down on hit to add impact.

I'm sure I'll get used to it, just feels strange after coming from Bloodborne as my last game with this type of battle system.

Just finished my first session. Like it quite a lot so far, though not quite at the "OMG best game ever" level people hyped it to. We'll see what the future holds, certainly seems like a huge game.

Are you using any post processing? Those shots look nice.

Added enb wrapper and now the game stays minimized to the toolbar and never comes back. Maybe a resolution conflict, I need to find the config file.

Is the game supposed to be played with your main pawn + 2 pawns at all times? Do you get more XP/DP if you have just your main pawn? The reason I'm asking is that I'm finding the game extremely easy on Normal with a party of 4. I guess I could restart on Hard but every time that difficulty is discussed people say the game wasn't meant to be played that way...

For some reason Im getting way worse framerates in the Steam version. Playing at 150+ fps with the leaked one but getting 80fps with drops to 40 in some areas now.

Anyone experiencing this?

Running on a TitanX/I75930k/64GB RAM

Yeah less pawns is basically increasing difficulty. Less things attacking enemies, more enemies attacking you. You can play however you like, there is even a augment that makes you really powerful if you go out with no pawns at all.

I think you get more xp as well, not sure since I never go without a full party haha. battles just seem more epic to me with a full party.

Couple questions.

Firstly, when do you get the option to redesign your Arisen and does it cost? I messed up a bit with mine, looked fine in the creator but something's off in-game proper.

Secondly, if I would start a new game instead, is it possible to skip the intro and get straight to the character creator?

I don't think you guys understand.
I don't play non-caster classes in RPGs.

I mean, even if this wasn't a principle (which means it won't change, ever) I wouldn't see a reason to, I'm enjoying the game as is.

Mystic Knight and Magic Archer are casters though. Hybrid classes actually. Unless you meant to say you only play pure caster classes.

I agree that the game is a little over hyped, but it is still very good. Wait until you get further along before making any final judgements, the game takes awhile to fully reveal itself.

OK, I got some questions about the screenshots.

1. What are you using to take your screenshots???

2. If you are using keyboard shortcuts, like the screenprint key, where are the screenshots saved to???

I've been trying to take screenshots for about 30 minutes now, and either the screenshots are not working or the pictures are saved somewhere I haven't looked.

Nah you don't have to use 2 extra pawns at all times, so feel free to use less, just hire them if you really need them for stuff like carrying items/pressure plates or whatever.

I'm thinking of sticking to M&KB but changing a few things I don't like putting block on a mouse key since you have to hold it down and Bow Aim on Q is taking up an important spot so I might try out this:

  • Make Space Block and put Jump on z, x, or c
  • Put Bow Aim on Middle Mouse or another Mouse button
  • Put Primary skills to Q
Other people on M&KB... what do you think? How have you changed the controls, if at all? They work pretty well already aside from the skills keybinds, including block.

I'm also interested in a config that makes full use of the Steam Controller I just got in the mail. Those touch pad menus (I don't know how to make them) might be good to for quick use items mapped to the number keys. Otherwise it'll be just like the Xbox controller's config.

I'll probably do that, or just suck it up because I do enjoy the atmosphere that a full party offers.

Also, "just one more quest" really backfired just now. I accepted a quest from Ser Berne which lead me from Gran Soren to the Shadow Fortress. Longest escort quest ever, lol.

Could this be used to convert an original Dragon's Dogma save without Dark Arisen content to something I could use in Dark Arisen PC?

"There's a limitation that you have to be using a console Dark Arisen savegame when converting; it can't be an original Dragon's Dogma save."
It's in the post dude

from what I recall we can't use the ferrystone until we reach a certain point in the story right?

You just need to do the quest to get to gransys and then the eternal ferrystone is in the inn storage. After that I was able to teleport between gransys and cassardis since those are the only 2 at the moment.

So I should use GeDoSaTo instead of DSR? SweetFX or ENB... or both? I know Durante is saying just downsample for now but some people are liking what the post process effects are adding and I want to try them out.

Playing alone or with one pawn is great too. The combat didn't really click for me until I did the tutorial after chucking all of the pawns off a ledge and 1v1ed the chimera. That will teach you quick.

And the game throws you one right in the start, lol.
I hated it.

whats wrong with them'
i did 2 or 3 and they aren't really that obnoxious..you basically go from point a to pont B killing stuff in the process..which is the same objective of all the oher missions so far

Hard's not too bad. You do get one-shot by archers early on but that's part of the charm, and there's increased gold as compensation.

The game's not really balanced around it, but it's not like it's carefully tuned on Normal, either. And this way you can freely use the pawns.

I love Demon's Souls and fair but challenging games. Is Normal difficulty going to be a cakewalk or is it actually challenging?

I just started and am wondering if I should go with Hard mode.

Also, after beating the tutorial intro, there seemed to be a cutscene with swirling dark clouds, but it froze! After a while, it dropped me off at the character creation screen. What did I miss?

My review for ACG Link

In a nutshell
"Though in some ways comparable to Dark Souls, Dragons Dogma feels a bit like Saints Rows appearance during GTA's reign. An oddly unique title with stellar combat and a large open world constantly reminding you of the flexibility available in any given genre. It is also fun as hell."

This is a fantastic review! Well done!
