changing back to strider to do that sidequest reminded me I miss actually having to aim the bow. Should I keep on as Strider for a bit (my Magick Archer is rank 10) which is rank 4, or should I try out Ranger if my goal is to snipe it up anyway?

anything that requires me to leave the area and change something completely breaks my imersion from doing that quest. I just switched back to Strider and im going back now (im rank 10 magick archer now anyway so its probably a good idea to roll as strider again for a bit which is only 4). Its the fact that I couldnt do it not because of skill but because the game decided you need a specific set of circumstances to do it is all
oh well, its no biggie in the grand scheme, it just annoyed me
After you rest (inn, rest camp etc.), you will get a message saying "Your follower returned from having assisted another" or something like that.
Once they release it, you'll get a notification that it came back when you rest an an Inn. It updates your pawn everytime you rest.
Cool thanksYou get a report detailing who, when, what and then you get paid.

he was trying to tell you to command your pawns to target the talismans I think (there was no need to change vocations) since I think you had a balanced party anyways (unless you where all magic casters) which in that case it's always recommended to use a well balanced party.
My favorite type of party is always having one strider and mage at least.
And the Duchess one is embarrassing as hell, and it sucks to just not do it because you're locked out of one of the better dungeons of the game (Blighted Manse) with a lot of decent loot inside, if you don't pick up that quest. So yeah.
my party was a tank, a 2 handed warrior, a mage and me as a magick archer. pawns couldnt reach it. its a balanced party, just not for that particular thing
also, lol at Dire Shot sounding like a fucking gun
The Duchess rescue mission is a tribute to the legend of zelda link to the past (rescue zelda mission),it's one of the best side quest the game has IMO. It's definitely worth doing it, and for those who worry that they are romancing the character, I wouldn't worry to much about it, since you get a special item that will let you romance anyone you want before the end game sequence.
My point is that it's really stupid to have this romantic excursion with this character when the game intends for you to so-called "choose" your romantic interest through other means. It's like the Capcom employee who created the Duchess in Distress quest didn't get the memo that a) the game already had a (wonky) love interest system to begin with and b) that your protagonist is one you create and having a forced romance is completely counter to the idea of the game. lol

Basically,."oh your character is in love with Mercedes/Quina/Julien/Madeleine/whoever, but lol you're gonna have it off with the duchess anyway 'cause you such a pimp breh"
It's asinine.
And miss out on one of the best dungeons in the game? Which is what I said in the previous post? You could always just NOT take up her obvious invitation for a romantic encounter, you know.
Yeah I know, it's goofy as hell. Still wish it wasn't like that. It's terrible quest design and completely breaks immersion. To be honest, it was so forced and random that it felt like comedy. I was honestly laughing throughout that entire questline the first time.

It's been a while, but I think you cant lock in your beloved before a particular scene with the dragon. Also, isn't it possible to do Deny Salvation beforehand and lock in your 'beloved' as someone else?
You don't even get access to that quest if you don't talk to her and do all the previous stuff.LOl...that's right because of that one scene...lol.
however I must say , what if your affinity for her was very low, as in you didn't talk to her in the garden or didn't gift her what she wanted, does the scene still takes place?
I know the duchess is one of the easiest npc to romance with little effort.
eh, I wouldn't call that the best balanced party.. it's always best to have someone who can throw arrows...especially since you can craft explosive arrows on the go and such.
but I think you already made up your mind about that whole mission which is fine, the game is not perfect by all means.
someone that can throw arrows like...me, the magick archer? come on dude
I have 2 ranged (one a healer), and 2 melee to make use of my explosive rivets. Im not saying that im an expert at this, far from it, but that seems balanced to me
I'm hooked on this game all over again!
I never did much vocation leveling on PS3 originally, how easy is it to manage after (end game spoilers)?killing Grigori
Also, if anyone wants to use my pawn here's my steam ID http://steamcommunity.com/id/gergstep/
Now that's classy :/someone just sent my pawn back with a hoe lol.
My pawn is still low, but if anyone wants to take her along:

Is there a performance/tech thread? I hate to bog down this one, but still can't get Gedosato/downsampling correct for some reason.
i'm sending pawns back with gold idol copies
[edit]or i will be, shortly
Heh yeah but their spawn rates are annoying. On PS3 I'd just farm the cursed dragons in BBI, the dragonforging rate seemed better from what I recall and they got easy after a while.
LMAO I came to post this exact same thing! Not sure how I feel about this...hahahahasomeone just sent my pawn back with a hoe lol.

Most likely being abusedSo you're telling me that while I was sleeping, my pawn was busting their ass helping people kill monsters in other worlds?
Damn.
Hey guys, is there some way to make the pawns NOT searching for objects / looting? I want to search and loot by myself
Yeah, Cursed Dragons have the best DF chance, it's something like 30%, I think -- and they can DF non-enhanced items as well.
The best way to DF stuff is to stock up on Rancid Bait Meat while on BBI and keep attracting Cursed Dragons in Duskmoon Tower. Just be sure to get what you want DF'd before taking on the final boss of BBI.
Dire dragonkin also have a chance to dragonforge unranked items, though it's very low.
I want to play all of the classes. They all look fun to me.
Will switching around a lot cause problems damage wise or anything since you get whatever kind of stats your class is when you level up?
If I'm a Fighter/Strider etc for a long time then switch to Mage will I be screwed?
you could micromanage the hell out of them using the "Come" command, down on the control pad, should keep them close to you and not going after chests.
but you can sell/keep anything they pick up in the stores so you shouldn't worry (better for you actually since the heavier you are the more stamina you will loose)
If pawns get killed or you throw em off a cliff all items you picked will be teletransported to your inventory at a local inn and such.
Just rememeber also using "come" to many times could change your pawns behavior, so it's up to you.
i really prefer theevil priest.
Nah that's a hassle, dark bishop requires resting and shit, just use rancid bait meat to lure out a cursed dragon, you can get as much as 4 on a single bait meat.
but you can do the dark bishop many lvls before being able to farm cursed dragons imho
I see...well just keep spamming "come" hire pawns that don't take the lead or sit your own pawn in a chair and tell him to stop going ahead of you. It's not because I don't find the items, I know they keep them. The thing is I like to explore by myself and seeing a pawn rushing into a "hidden" chest breaks that for me
I cant get over this dire arrow skill sounding like a gun lol
in a good way
