Elizabeth Olsen cast as the Scarlet Witch in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

her name is 'scarlet witch' I'm sure Joss can come up with something. ;-)

they can always, somehow, connect her to Thor's universe... she would fit right in with Thor + Loki's costumes.

(Wanda + Pietro can be separated at birth, and Wanda was taken to Thor's universe because of her powers...)
If they can figure out a good organic way to justify it ala Magneto's helmet, that would be great. But I can't imagine any good reason to make her wear it that wouldn't be more in service to getting her in the costume than it would be in service to the plot. We'll see though. It's not impossible.

Uggghhh, I'll never understand why they changed his costume for Avengers. The top one is SO GOOD.
Too true.

It's going to be weird seeing Aaron Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen playing husband & wife in Godzilla and brother & sister in the Avengers the following year.

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
Seems clear now that she took herself out of the running for this for a shot at Star Wars.
wasn't it confirmed she turned the role down, or something?

This theory has been floating around for a little while now, but she addressed it at TIFF:

I don't have the link on hand, but in one of the (many) interviews from TIFF, she was asked about the rumours regarding her supposedly passing on the offer of Scarlet Witch (The Avengers 2), and although her response isn't exactly to the point, she more or less confirms that she didn't get that far into the process.

Edit: Here we go (skip to 2:15):
Was [playing Scarlet Witch] ever something that was really discussed?

Not really. I mean, you know, there's lots of things that always float about and they're kind of fleeting for a second, but you know--

There was not much there?

No.

I love Wanda trying to give Cap shit for thinking incest is weird. Like that's an old fashioned notion or something.

well, it's not as weird when it's mutant twincest, amirite? ;-P

tbh, I always get Quicksilver mixed up w/ Northstar and forget he's not gay. LOL

Loeb took it and ran with it. He was trying to be edgy and in tone with Millar. But trying to out do Mark Millar is a cause no one should be taking up. That and Loeb has been terrible for the longest time.

Introducing incest is one thing. But that dialog... There's no reason Captain America is so naive. Why is Wasp condescending about it? Aparently, incest was invented in the post-war era and got super popular. Blaarrrgh.

Uggghhh, I'll never understand why they changed his costume for Avengers. The top one is SO GOOD. Probably the only good thing about First Avenger

The correct answer is probably to sell more toys to kids. Can't have them selling the same costume for two different movies.

The chin strap really helped Evans in The First Avenger as he doesn't have the jaw line to carry the traditional Captain America look and he didn't really fill out the costume that well. A bit more padding or muscle mass would have gone a long way.

My apologies if this has been answered in this thread, but: is there a definite source that details what characters and concepts that Fox has rights to? Some of the responses on this topic have been super-specific, so I'm wondering where this info has been discussed or disclosed.

I guess I should look into this Inhumans push from Marvel, and what it might mean for their regular roster of mutants; part of me even dreads getting back into all of this, as I'm sure whatever's been going on in the MU (and DC for that matter) is hopelessly convoluted. I wonder if either company would ever dare publish monthly single issue books with no concern for shared-universe continuity?

So what is the story with the Ultimate Universe? Is it getting merged with the main universe and everyone (except Spider-Man) will be killed?
