Fi pops up too often, but I feel like I would have to have absolutely zero patience to react to her like some people do lol
And the handholding is exaggerated. Greatly. People act like she told you everything to do. She did on occasion, which was annoying-- but again, greatly overexaggerated.
Generic? Don't see how. The game's art direction, designs, dungeons, environments were gorgeous and detailed. Didn't reward exploration? Simply not true. But I guess I can play fair and give you your other complaints as I can see how that stuff could be completely subjective, but it absolutely rewarded exploration. The environments were very dense and filled with things to find.

Skyward Sword was a weird case. Some of its moments were legitimately amazing, right up there with the best of the series in general. Some of it made me slam my head into my desk.
They tried a lot of things and it ended up a weirdly inconsistent experience, but overall I'll always respect the effort.

Do we know if you can take your Switch and dock it in any dock, or does it pair with the dock it comes with? i.e. I bring my Switch, without the dock, to a friend's house... can I use the dock he has or does something prevent that?

Okay, not quite. There's always Spirit Tracks.
There's been a downward trend in how high GOTY-candidate games get reviewed, but 88 or below would be kind of shocking, even given Nintendo's propensity to fuck things when they aim out of their comfort zone.
Zelda as *the* Switch launch title will get it reviews from a lot of establishments that don't review all that many games, and those places tend to use simple 4-or-5-star review metrics. That applies a bit more of a review pressure via 100 scores.

Yeah, figured there'd be one before but unless it gets announced in the next few days, I doubt it. They could be saving it for next week though too I suppose, if they're doing one.
Mine too, I figured I was still gonna be fucked, but it's acorss the street so whatever. Worth a try,
SS had the best gameplay in the serie and no game will ever have a better one.

one thing that im still unsure about but not really is that if I just have the switch in handheld mode with the joy-cons attached and all, does that mean all I need is a USBC charger to charge the switch and the joy-cons at the same time without the dock?
So I could keep it in handheld mode for like months without a dock?

I dunno man. We've definitely come a long way since reviewers were giving Arkham City a 6/5 and shit like that. I think a lot of reviewers are gonna come up with reasons to give this game an 8/10. Seems like hype has already given way to a certain skepticism on GAF and other gaming sites, and lots of reviewers are gonna want to look tough and skeptical, and absolutely everyone is gonna be mentally comparing Breath to Horizon and other great open world games.
Locking in my prediction: 83 Metacritic
I'd be disappointed because it needs to be better than A Link to the Past.

Moneyhats, fanboyism, things like this. It starts with "well early impressions are always positive, can't trust 'em" then when the reviews are good "well they were paid or are just Zelda fanboys, Skyward Sword got good reviews too and just look at THAT piece of shit"
People say that for all of the Zelda games, though. OOT is the "consensus" 3D Zelda, that most people like. Since every other 3D Zelda is more divisive than OOT, then there will be always be a spread where people say "Best since OOT!", some because they genuinely haven't liked the ones since then, and some because of recency bias/new-car smell.
Bad things maybe?

I don't like any 3D Zelda game tbh, so I don't know why I'm so hyped for this. Maybe the fact that it's on a portable (only managed to finish OOT and MM because they were on 3DS - couldn't commit to them on a console), and the fact that maybe they shaked the formula enough for me to like a 3D Zelda with no reservations for a change.
I'm gonna be so hyped when a 2D Zelda arrives for the Switch. It better happen.

I agree wholeheartedly! Once one outlet (or a random Gaffer) covers something, it should be completely off limits for everyone else. That coverage will get posted to the internet homepage that everyone sees upon connecting "to the net".

The back of the game says it gives you "helpful boosts for your adventure". So probably nothing important.
It's easy hits/views from people eager to get the system. It's easy to produce and gets you cheap results.

I'm guessing people want to see how it looks actually opened up for the first time. That hiphop guy opened it, took it out to show off, and then re boxed it prior to making that unboxing video.

from the guardian amiibo box what i could make out is a new weapon and a treasure chest but thats all i could get looks like there might be a little more.

Ocarina of Time, Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, Link Between Worlds
...but much better than:
Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks
Of course, my deepest hope is that it's absolutely the best Zelda, and I think it could be, but I should also keep my expectations in check.
