Enter The Gungeon |OT| Praise the gun

From what I've gathered from dev comments, footage, and impressions, there are three aspects to the progression:
1) Meta-progression spread across playthroughs. Things you do in early playthroughs can have effects on later playthroughs (i.e. something you do results in a boss appearing later)
2) The Isaac-style progression of new weapons and items being added to the pool of loot that you can find in the dungeons
3) The Necrodancer-esque progression where your hub world grows more lively and gains more NPCs, opening up new shops and other elements as you play

I'd like to add, and this is pretty obvious and probably doesn't count, getting better at the game (learning the enemies, what to do/not do) is progression in these games. Dying on the first floor a bunch of times then getting to the point where you don't even get hit, as an example.

Spoiler question I guess:

I found the dude who makes a shortcut for you and he's hanging out in the breach. He says he'll meet me at the elevator on the second floor but when I get there he is nowhere to be found? What am I missing?

Drop down, dive in the hole left after the bullet-elevator disappears.

Bought it! Have probably 500 hours in Isaac. Love these types of games.

Wondering if there is any meta like the deal with the devil in Isaac. Always like things like that.

Any impressions from some veterans of Nuclear Throne? How's the difficulty level and how do the controls compare?

Edit: I'm guessing GMG will send out the keys at the same time the game unlocks on steam.

So this seems to be worth the 15 Euro asking price then? Will probably get it when I'm back home :)

PS4 performance impressions? :)

I personally experienced a few (weird) slowdowns, apparently NOT directly related to the action itself: there can ben 6 enemies and hundreds of bullets on screen, and nothing happens, but then maybe you go back to a room you already visited and the framerate drops for a second.
It's nothing too dramatic nor frequent, but it did happen to me a few times, I guess that's maybe Unity related.

Anyway, I gave the game 8.8 on IGN Italy: the review is in Italian, so I think not many will be able to read it, but this is the quote that's going on Metacritic.

A game that's clearly the product of passion, talent and dedication, Enter The Gungeon is an exciting twin stick shooter that mixes up elements ranging from The Binding of Isaac, Dark Souls and Ikaruga (among others...). The result is a delightful and sadistic cocktail that the most hardcore gamers will fall in love with, but also one that is definitely not for everyone.

It's really, really a fun - and brutally hardcore - experience all around.

Been waiting for this since late 2014 I can't believe it's here! This year has been awesome for indies what with Stardew Valley, Salt and Sanc, Hyperlight Drifter etc.,. I think I'd be set if Eitr came out this year as well.

theres not even a preload on Steam anyway so dont panic about your GMG keys just yet, theres time :/

This game is going to make me late for work. So good, I needed something else in the Isaac vein since I'm still waiting for after birth to come to consoles and this is scratching that itch really well.

I love the early moments of a roguelike when you're trying to figure out what the fuck you're supposed to do with some items or altars in a level. I was afraid my lack of bullet hell experience would make it hard for me to get into it but so far the difficulty curve has been pretty generous.

Dev stated that there'll be free updates post-release to add stuff that wasn't ready by launch

What kind of stuff, you ask?
A gun that shoots portals is planned- might not make release but an early update.
There's more than guns that will come out after the game is released. We just aren't prepared to go into specifics yet, but rooms, enemies, bosses, guns etc should pop up in some form post-launch

Is this better than Isaac? The games lasted too long on that like half hour to a hour and it was way too random and I didn't really know what I was doing with most of the powerups or items or what they did I got frustrated by it in the end and only put a few hours into it.

I think it is, but mainly because I hated the compass firing and overall tone in BoI.

EtG is much more light hearted.

It doesn't need to be "better" than Isaac. This seems like a metter of what you prefer. And the mentality you are going in for roguelike.

Here you have "wikia" inside the game, so you can tell what item does what. In Isaac, I ventured outside of the game to read about items and mainly - wasn't afraid to die in search of what does what.

That said, I haven't played it - will in one hour if GMG and Steam gods smile my and our way.

I want to mention the quick start ability right as soon as the game goes to the first logo screen is great. It went straight to load me into a new game with the last character I played as.
