My internet is 1.5Mbps max. I live in the country. There aren't really any other options.
I'm not going through hell downloading these 40GB games. For example, I've been patching Bloodborne (with its 9GB patch) for about five days. That's not continuously but still. I tolerate digital on PC because I don't really have a choice in the matter.

I switched to a different provider and downgraded my connection from some GDLK 300/300 Mbps because I'd save €15 per month (plus two cellphone numbers with free unlimited voice calls) and now I'm ridden with the jankiest DSL in this city.
I sure damn hope my ISP extends its optic fibre network to my place within the year, because otherwise I'm switching back to my old provider. This is unbearable.

The telecommunications advances being made in #RuralAmerica are truly spectacular. Verizon would be viable considering there's a tower I can see from the living room window, but no way am I touching it while they still insist on their bullshit data caps acting as if internet is a limited resource or something.

But the speed's generally terrible enough that it doesn't really matter.

It'll play poorly like most cellphone platformers. I mean, it's Nintendo, I'm sure it'll be enjoyable for a mobile game, but that will be it. Cellphones are simply not suited for the genre.

The Mario game is pretty late to the party though. It's hard to imagine it'll be any better than Banana Kong or Run, Sackboy, Run. I guess it doesn't hurt to try.

in a sonic platformer there are times where you stop and choose paths, look for secrets etc.
I wouldn't say they are becoming third party just yet. They do still have dedicated hardware coming out.
I think this is just branching out in to new business without benefiting their competitors. I think I also remember hearing at the beginning of the year that they are going to get into doing stuff for theme parks and movies.
The optimist part of me is thinking that this just them trying to revitalize their business while the cynical side is thinking that this is just them being desperate.
