the thing about rating is that humans by default are attractive. That's how we're programmed. But it's easy to lose sight of that and still feel like a 5 is sub par or not good when actually that's the same place most people are in, and it's a fine place. It's not that simple. Even posting here and looking for someone to reply to you is validation. I'm validating that you said something worthy of conversation.
Where you draw the line on what validation is healthy or not is different of course, but the base level human interaction requires validation.
Well you look like my sister, so it's almost impossible for me to have a fair opinion since looking like my sister would also mean you look like me, and of course anyone who looks like me is gorgeous but I have the humility to not say it.

That would be ideal, for sure but no one is that perfect. We're all getting validation from people in our life, even if we're not conscious of it.
(I do agree it's a problem if people are going around trying to get others to make them feel better about themselves but god, who hasn't been there at some point or another?)
