And everyone felt that was so great when everything that Brian represents is shat on in the same exact show lol. It was always kinda pathetic to see the WWE surfing on the Brian popularity that was basically imposed to them. McMahon hugging him when he probably never ever believed in him in first place..

In the same time they are force pushing a bland muscular guy against everyone and treating like absolute cheat some indy talents.

Yet everyone finds that a really cute raw.
For some, like this guy, Daniel Bryan was nothing more than the most successful vehicle they could find for their indie nerd rage against mainstream professional wrestling

Pro wrestling (in 2016!) is nerd stuff no matter how sanctimonious guys you act about it, dude.

The "you're just a bunch of nnnnnnerds who don't understand" vibe a lot of posters in this thread have is consistently hilarious and frustrating when there's a friggin' running joke here about how embarrassed everybody is to even admit to being an active fan. That is either a deep lack of self-awareness or some whole new level of shame.

Oh cool, I almost missed that link with his indy work at the top. I need to go back and watch more of that stuff because I've only seen pieces.

Sucks that so many guys were injured/not there when this happened. How many of Bryan's top 10 or even top 20 opponents of his career were in the arena?

Welp I just watched the Daniel Bryan retirement speech. Told myself I wasn't going to tear up, that didn't totally work out. I feel like that speech he gave cements his legacy in a really special way. Even if he has to go out at such an early age, good on WWE for giving him that opportunity. It was a nice book end in place of the final match he didn't get to have.

Guess I'll skim through the rest of RAW now.

Is there a timeline of when wrestlers are expected to return? Like an injury report in the MLB or NFL or whatever which says something like "John Doe out 6-9 mos as of Jan 15, 2015" or something to that extent.

Because it seems like there are a handful of guys that have to be in the picture to return right after Fastlane and right after Mania.

It's usually pretty ambiguous and I would suspect intentionally so in order to preserve the surprise when someone returns.

It tends to be a lot more fluid with wrestlers because it's impossible to really know when your body will be fully able to handle the constant the bumps again.

But yeah most of the guys are expected either right before Mania or after. I think Rollins is definitely after.

This is done as well.

Watched Bryan vs Y2J from NXT.

My god Heel Cole or whatever the fuck he is supposed to be is horrible.

If it wasn't for him calling an emotional Eddie vs Brock title change and him yelling Stone Cold is here that 1 time there would no reason to hear audio from him.

That was the first of his heel turn too. Heel Cole was really the worst.

Cena vs Bryan on Velocity from 2003

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6hM_-9RVDc

Man imagine if we could have gotten an Eddie vs Bryan or Benoit vs Bryan or a Bryan vs HBK or Flair vs Bryan from that time.

Bryan looked pretty crisp despite being so young.

I love clips like these. Right now, there are two young guys out there wrestling that have little to no mainstream attention and in 10 years time, will be in the main event of a Wrestlemania. Not bad, not bad at all.

Yeah boy.

Another reason to bring back jobber matches.

Something else to take is somewhere out there are some young new wrestlers inspired to take it up by Bryan's success these last few years.

I wish Glenn had been up there.

Basically none of Bryan's favorite wrestlers/opponents/feuds were in the arena yesterday. The speech was great and everything but it could've been a lot better if more people that mattered to Bryan's career were there.

god why can't wrestlers try and be real more often.

Hell even Vince knows its a draw. He pinned the Hogan vs Macho feud on Macho real life insecurity with his wife and it showed in the product.
That would risk guys on the roster getting over and Vince having to respect them as legit stars.

I mean it won't work for everyone.

Kane and The Undertaker got over more than Glen Jacobs or Mean Mark but real or at least selling the stuff like its real and important is what people won't roll their eyes at when they see it.

Pieces of their real life, not just their straight up real selves.

Kane definitely got over with his Team Hell No stint, and that had much more Glen Jacobs than any version of Kane.

But for the time Kane was over as shit.

For as much as we like to make fun of the man today I don't think anyone thinks that he isn't talented. Even with the stupid split personality storyline with Seth he actually made it work despite crap writing.

I checked out of Raw about half way through last night. I watched Daniel Bryan's speech this morning. I wasn't prepared man, the feels. I wish he could have been in WWE longer because that is what a roll model should be, but I'm glad we got him for the short period of time we did on that stage.

At 12 years old Kane was over as fuck with me when he showed up and tore down the Hell in a Cell cage wall.

It's unfortunate WWE has absolutely trampled on the original mystique of Kane. It's been almost impossible to buy him as a bad ass in the past few years.

And yeah, for what a crock of shit they were handed, he did pretty good story work with Rollins.
