Final Fantasy VII PC re-release. SE Store Exclusive - Out now, Internet required

I respect the fact that Square is re-releasing this on PC (as Chac said, they better fix the music), but doesn't Square realize that they would sell more copies if they put it on Steam? Oh well, I'll probably still buy it (My PS1 copy is messed up and it's not worth the money to buy another copy of it)

How the fuck does this game require those specs?? Do achievements really need that much RAM to run??

I would love it if they add mod support. There are so, so any things that are open to major improvement in that game (starting with the lol-errific Spanish localization)

You noticed how much RAM Win7 takes? System footprint on modern PC's is huge.

Modern OSes downscale their use of resources when intensive processes run. But please, lets continue the ignorance of justifying the higher requirements of a game that was made in 1997.

Well that and Windows 7 pretty much uses nearly as much resources as XP if not XP using more.

Do you buy all your food from 10 different shops?

This logic doesn't work because you use gas to drive to 10 different shops.

If I could switch shops in 5 seconds with a keyboard why wouldn't I shop at 10 different shops? There's almost no effort involved. So why not?

And all the other games running on emulators on XBLA, do the publishers own all that arcade hardware as well? I'm legitimately curious here.

Which ones? I only know about SEGA, Capcom and SNK which all own arcade hardware.

There is no need for "logic" in this discussion. If people don't want to buy stuff on Steam for whatever reason it's their business.

A trailer made up entirely of PSX-era FMV footage and not a single gameplay clip? Seriously?

Showing characters with as much polygons as a Lego character in an epic story RPG probably isnt the best way to market it, even if its kinda lying to potential buyers. Can you imagine the reaction of people who still dont know what FFVII really looks like after buying the game?

Trailer was all from the CG cutscenes?

Sheesh, that means no gameplay improvements at all :(

Oh please... system requirements are a generalization made to guide people who aren't technically savvy. The sort of folks who have Firefox open with 20 panes active on their aging laptops and wonder why performance is in the toilet. The sort of people who buy 4gigs of ram and run Win7 in 32-bit mode and lose half-a-gig straight off the top because its got a cap on memory space.

Yes you can tailor your Win7 install for resource limited systems, but most people don't and let it run in its default mode which is to utilize whatever it can for process caching. The reality is that WinXP/Win7 expect a lot more space than Win95/98 did, the floor has moved upwards over the years, and guess what? Application min-requirements have risen with them.

They're the ones that brought up that poor reasoning. /shrug

The analogy might be poor but the reasoning is valid.

Every single time someone says that he won't buy a game because it is or is not on this or that service someone always feels the need to "call him out" for whatever reason, call people X-fanboys or Y-haters and just in general shit on their opinion because obviously there is only one correct way to look at these things. It's getting annoying.

Edit: Not talking about you specifically, I didn't read your posts ITT. Just something I felt the need to say.

Hey, I'll take it. The PC version is much cleaner than the PS one. It will be nice to have it running on modern OS/Hardware. I just hope they fix the music.

Anyone know how "soon" it's coming?

Christ, does it matter?
Why are you complaning about requirements nobody will have problems meeting?

It's only normal for a company to assume people who are buying this use at least WIndows XP (which is eleven years old).

And I doubt that modern OS systems, even with downscaled use of resources are as light as Windows 95 was.

But no, according to you they should instead list:

You need a pentium celeron 233MHz. And windows 95.
Make sure you have 32MB RAM.
Also, be sure to have at least DirextX 5.0 installed.

This is what I ran the original PC version on, and it doesn't seem like they've done anything to it.

I loved FF7 the first time I played it... but somehow, it's the only FF game that I haven't even TRY to replay it... why is that? =(

Who gives a fuck? No, really -- who could possibly even care about this?

Seriously, i would understand if they asked for 4gb ram and some quad core CPU, but the required specs are so ridiculously low it shouldn't be an issue to anyone unless you're still stuck with a PC from 1995-2000, which i wonder why that would be the case.

You were dazzled by the graphics. I was so pumped for the game after playing the demo that came with FFT. Enjoyed my play through but don't understand the love some people have for this game.
