Finally played a bit, did some quests. The game is better than I expected even through all that damn lag. Looks interesting, hope it gets better as we progress.

Hmmm, strange. Intro vidoes the audio works with voices and what not, but the effects are behind. Anyone else have this problem?

I got R0 and after getting back on the lag went away, sucks cuz the enemies are hitting back and can't kill yellow mobs anymore :lol

I just tried to make a new toon and Lind was 3rd in pop behind Mysidia and Figaro. Although maybe that's bc ppl keep getting booted.

How come none of my game configs work? Everything is set at default despite the changes. Even the gamepad configs are at default. Is it supposed to be this way?

Well, come retail, maybe we need to pick another server. I don't think I can stand RP servers. They scare me. Give me nightmares.

Adding my name to the list. Got disconnected last night and went to sleep, came back on now and I have no clue what to do. Can't accept any levequests either. All the crashing doesn't help either.

Apparently some other sites are having votes on what they would like to be what servers. I guess the highest votes for the RP server is Lindblum. I have no idea where these polls are or what site though. Someone referenced it a few pages ago.

As if it mattered for fuck :lol

Those busy roleplaying are just gonna get overlooked by the smart ones during endgame, well it'll be like that on every server, just change "roleplayers" for "casuals", or some other shit.


The Quarrymill screenshot? What does that proof?

I cant do the server switch if we have to. Too many people to talk to and too little of a time frame to do it if we wait. Im stuck with Lindblum.

How long is this beta?


It runs like butthole on my pc. I gave to do low settings, low resolution, half buffer. Wow. Looks like low res porn full screened.

But, I still can explore and see what the game is like.

Played about 20 minutes in Gridania, some thoughts-

-Opening cinematic is fantastic. I think I prefer it to the boat, but maybe it's because I've seen the boat about 10 times now.
-Neat to see "rank up" appear with a small, not annoying fanfare, on your character.
-UI performance is better, but still not entirely smooth. Might have something to do with Gridania performance being not as good (heh) as Limsa's.
-Critical error after 20 minutes, running to the first camp. I, for one, was shocked.

Feels like the Gridania starting zone music is a little too mysterious for it's own good... made me sleepy almost instantly. Great looking area, even if it taxes the system too much.

Will put in more time later but I'm still left with the "this could be (or will be) fantastic, but I wish they wouldn't launch it so soon". Lots of potential, but still feels too early.

i`m sure this has been asked and answered before but.....

How do you resize your screen? (currently windowed) do I have to change something in the config folder or I`m I just blind and am missing it from in game?

There is a separate exe called FFXIV Beta Config you need to run before playing the game, all the graphics options that really matter are in there.

Is there a guide for crafting somewhere?

I bought the blacksmith hammer/file to make myself some armor/weapons, but realized I needed materials and recipes.

Logically I then went out and bought the miner pickaxe/offhand and got a bunch of copper ore.

Then I thought it was time to switch back to my hammer/file and smelt the ore, I kept putting in ore to the menu (4) and it said it would make a copper nugget, but I required fire crystals.

Where do I get fire crystals, I'm guessing I need to somehow make my fire shards into them? Is it Alchemy?

What do I do once I get a copper nugget? I want a new sword lol.

Also, no idea where to buy a shield.

I must not get this game at freaking at all. I want to play it, but there's nothing to play anymore.

I finished that main quest in Ul'dah from Momodi, and there doesn't seem to be any new story mission/quests until you hit rank 10 with your class. I did all the tutorial leves and kill mob leves that were available as well. I'm like level 4 pugilist and level 6 over all. I do NOT want to craft jack crap---that does NOT equate to fun for me in the slightest. I do NOT want to switch to a different class this early.... I mean I'm only level freaking 4. So, I decide let's go find random mobs in the wild outside Ul'dah to exp off of. There aren't any.... like maybe 1 every few minutes you can find. I tried exploring further off and all the mobs are red icons AKA you will die if you fight them.

Wtf do I do now? Wait the other like 36 hours until I can have leves again to level off of?

Hmm. My FPS is pretty much exactly the same, but the game is definitely more responsive than it was despite the low framerate.

I'm not really sure what my issue is. I've cut the resolution in half, from 1920x1200 to 1280x800 and my FPS remains exactly the same. I've dropping every setting down a step along with the huge resolution cut and still my FPS is exactly the same. I was thinking my CPU was holding me back, but the big cut in resolution should have gave me some increase. I never used DOF or AO and have no AA enabled.

EDIT: So, so strange. Even dropping the resolution down to 1024x768, the lowest it goes in the config, and my framerate remains the same. 15-18fps in town or crowded areas. I did not gain a single FPS by dropping my resolution from 1920x1200 down to 1024x768 along with the other lowered settings.

Is there anyone in Ul'dah handing out Linkpearls? :)

And, how do you respawn after death? Ran around a bit and got struck for 4472 damage by an Inferno Drake, there didn't seem to be any options to respawn though so a bug maybe?

Meh, until I can find an audio solution, I think I may have to pass on this. I really don't know what it is. Bothers me. Suppose I'll check out other technical forums and see if I can get some answer there.
