Speaking of classes, what kind of abilities do the Disciple of Hand and Land learns? Do they get skills as often as War and Magic (I assume they rank up in the same way)? Are there even anything worthwhile to be used cross-class?

Is there a new beta patch associated with tonights test? I cant tell if Jinko is commenting on the beta being patched or the Cat 10.7 drivers that Ccrook was talking about

If you already have the client installed just run it and it will check for updates. The patches are usually not very big so download time will be minimal. I checked late last night and there was no patch.

Cool. Hopefully theres some improvement with the actual game itself...even something small would be a step in the right direction. Ill be on vent tonight with you all so I can hear about it first hand :D

Tanaka blogged this morning that todays update has fixes for ATI performance issues. Also noted that although nvidia has offered full unfettered support, they are having issues getting AMD to respond to their requests for assistance.

ATI don't make me jump shit !!

Edit I meant Ship !! :p

More and more, I seem to regret my ATI card purchase. It was cheaper and it had DX11 back in October but the issues I had with it (RMAs, blah) combined with ATIs lack of response to me and others with problems like me, I might have to go Nvidia next time. Squares troubles dont surprise me :lol

If my card wasnt so young, I would have switched already.

Sorry to stray off topic. Im looking forward to seeing how the game performs for ATI owners now. Tonight needs to hurry up and get here already!

Trying to download the new patch/patches - even though they're 4.5MB or so it's taking forever, even when I tried them in uttorent - anywhere I can grab them from directly?

Its possible. There was a mention of miners eventually learning a skill that can weaken mineral/metal (earth and mechanical?) based enemies...

And yet that ATI card does pretty damn good numbers with other games easily. Never regret that purchase. :D Remember, ATI 10.7 is on Monday as well so there could be a chance of some more fixes there too. HOWEVER, don't jump ship till impressions come out.

I've set my alarm for 2.45am (starts 3am here). Hopefully there will be less connection issues, I'm still expecting it to be quite hard to log in but hopefully it wont take nearly an hour of trying.

-Gameplay may slow down when one of several types of AMD (ATI) graphic cards is in use.

-When you trade your Gil for Gil, the traded Gil is not displayed and will not available for use until the server is rebooted.

-When two pieces of equipment are traded and the player equips the new item, it may be lost in the event of a sever crash.

- When too many players escort the NPC Sisipu then the server may crash.

What i'm thinking is, if there are obviously bugs in the quests too and they don't open other cities or areas in beta before the release.. how can they fix them? Internal -special chosen people- beta maybe?

So I might be able to finally play tonight, I guess I won't be sleeping today and just play until I drop or the servers crash, whatever happens first.

Actually that particular quest uses instancing so the crashing server is likely a result of maxing out connections.

Yeah, I'm thinking about maybe leaving the game for a month or two before I invest in it, after release.

Anyone managing to download this new patch? At this rate I won't have it before the beta, getting no speed on it.

My complaints actually start way back when I first got the card last year and had issues. The FFXIV issues have just been the icing on the cake. I shouldnt complain. My new card has been fine so just ignore me. Im bitchy today :D

Are there any mediafire downloads for todays patch?

I'm still really curious as to why crafters are now classed as separate classes. I've only ever had experience with FFXI in terms of MMO's - but this just seems crazy to me.

Are they trying to convince players that it's okay to play the game solely as a crafter and trying to provide a more rewarding experience? For instance - do the crafting classes level up as they craft?

Yeah-- this has me confused as well. I don't really know what to think.

Thank you for this.

I'm really excited for this, but I think I'm going to wait a month to play it once they have implemented some fixes.

This is SE. You may need to wait three months. =P

(Low hanging fruit. Sorry.)

Anyone playing a Lalafell mele character? I sorta want to go with a Lalafell marauder in the real game instead of the galka like character.

I'm playing a male Lalafell Marauder. It's a pretty badass race/job combination. :lol

Didn't have any problems and I updated directly with the client, and quite fast as well.

Did the same then got that error (just like enough people on the beta forums...).

So in terms of stats related to races, will it be more or less the same as in FFXI?

Humes were all-round.
Mithra high DEX and AGI.
Galka's high STR and VIT.
Elvaan high STR and DEX (was it?)
Tarutaru high MND and INT

The stats made so much sense in terms of the physical properties of the races that I can't imagine they've changed it in this game right?

In FFXI characters had a set stat progression based on race and jobs. In FFXIV you get to assign what stats you want to raise in any order you choose. Even if there were a difference between races at lvl 1 they would evaporate pretty quickly since at lvl 1 there's probably only a 3-4 point difference to start with. Assuming you're not just pumping every single stat point into one category and going for a reasonably balanced progression, it will even out.

This is all assuming that they do decide to give different beginner stats which is not the case in the current beta.

I think that gameplaywise, the differences between races will be purely cosmetic.
