Yes.

Also, make sure to get Heavensward as soon as you complete the 2.0 story. 2.1-2.5 quests give you experience if you have Heavensward that makes leveling up in 3.0 significantly less stressful.

Awesome, thank you. I actually didn't even know the level cap was upped to 60. I quit around where you fight Leviathan because I wanted to wait for a level cap increase so that is amazing news.

Hey is this game any fun to quest in? Like solo

Should I buy the complete pack or just the base xiv?

Can I buy from the us store and play with my eu psn? probably not right

You can just get the base game at first, then get the expac once you hit the level 50 content and yeah, quest storylines are pretty enjoyable.

Just can't beat the final steps of faith. Been trying for the past 4 days and probably have gone through a ton of groups.

Either DPS is a problem or everyone bites it in the third form.

To his credit, fastest Halatali I've ever done.

All I can read is Viera in which case I say yes

Most of what AST does other jobs already do, do it better and without RNG.

AST has Balance and can reduce Dark damage. That's basically it. It's an uninspired job that doesn't really have a niche besides some super specific things.

AST's niche is speedruns.

It's a pretty story focused game so yea it's pretty fun to quest in, even if some of the quests are kinda dull padding to the story... That said though the game will have you go through group content like dungeons or bosses to progress.

If it's not a huge discount to get a complete pack then yea, good to just get the base game to see if you like it.

Tiamat's ending in Heavensward makes me sorta bummed.

Yeah guys check it out I've sat here for eons and shit went south. This new peace looks pretty shit guis, I mean it probably won't even last a thousand years. Just watch, I'll be sitting here telling you I told you so from the comfort of my eternal prison while you're all dead and buried.

You see, this is the ultimate moral of the Dragonsong war story, the dragons are so similar to the Ishgardians that even their stupidity is the same!

I think they will probably not introduce a new healer for next expac. Seems way too tough to balance for them. We will definitely get a new dps and maybe Samurai for tank?

I am willing to bet that we will get two jobs next expansion: the hinted at Red Mage and Samurai. My guess is that Red Mage is going to be a DPS class with some support/light healing ability, like how the Summoner can revive people thanks to its Arcanist lineage. Samurai is likely to be a tank, thanks to a long history of it being a tank in the series. We are also running low on good tank options.

I think the next expansion after 4.X will probably give us new Healing and DPS jobs to keep things balanced. Maybe Dancer for the healing Job? If 4.X is Ala Mhigo, 5.X might be Radz-at-Han and Thavnairia, where a Job like Dancer might be appropriate.

I definitely feel they could have done something more unique and interesting with Astrologian. The tarot card aspect feels wasted on the random buffs when it would be more interesting to have them designed around healing which is what the class does most of the time. It just sucks that the most unique aspect of the class which is the tarot cards are not actually tied to what you're doing most of the time.

Instead it feels kind of like playing a White Mage with a random buff generator. There are times where I get buffs that are completely useless for the fight because of the RNG (there are a few abilities to help mitigate this but it still happens). It's something that I assume they are learning from.

By that I mean if they are going to add a new healer I hope they stay far away from the WHM template since I think they've done a decent job at differentiating the DPS classes. It should hopefully be very different mechanically from the healer jobs we have now.

I'm thinking that RDM and SAM are definitely the most likely candidates. That said, I expect Yoshi-P is going to throw a curveball of some kind.

I'd really like to see the Disciple -> Job format – not unlike the FFTA tier above – utilized in this expansion, after it was essentially ignored in Heavenward. However, I'm aware that the balance issues inherent in the system have been discussed, so I expect we'll probably continue to see that system grow increasingly redundant.

Red Mage to me seems like a weird class to add. Since it's a jack of all trades, I figured they would focus on adding classes with a unique flavour/focus first over something like that but apparently there was a hint during that anniversary event some number of months ago. However I haven't heard of anything past that while I've heard about numerous hints towards Samurai.

10 more sands and I should more or less have enough to finish this i240 step of the relic.

Still need to grind the eso, but at least that part is straight forward. Thank god for that leve trick >.>

So I hit my first brick wall on a level 30 mission. This group of flies just deal too much damage. And the run and scathe strategy isnt effective. Luckily i figured out how to get my chocobo to tank hits so I might be fine.

You are supposed to use an item to weaken the flies, which makes them quite a bit weaker, if I recall correctly. It isn't a common quest gimmick, but there are about three or four examples of it in that level range.

I have been using the poetics method, and moonstone method most effectively. I use the vilekin also but I'm letting my leves build up. I'm probably going to be done this week if my allowances are enough to face the rng of the chest with vilekin appearing. The easiest leve to do this with is the chocobo escort mission in dravanian forelands or the show your work one in Churning mists. They require the least looking around.

look to your duty list ,

next to the quest tittle there is a item icon.

target the flies and then click on item to use it .

this will bring them down to a much more manageable level .

i have a feeling it'll be time mage, or maybe red mage is going to be time magic based
basing my prediction from hildibrand's latest quests with the vivi mammet

AST has already kind of stolen time magic.
FF14 doesn't feel the need to stick to tradition where it would go against gameplay so what's likely to happen is that they take the magic fencer image from FF11 and imbue it with a new gameplay design, possibly some kind of melee magic DPS. NINs beware!
Then SAM would be a tank. It all makes sense. 4 tanks, 4 melee DPS, 4 ranged DPS. 3 healers, but I seriously doubt they can bring something new to the table in healing department without something gimmicky.

Of course somehow coupled with a later than usual work day, i've lost my 1.0 Security Token that was attached to my keychain.

On a weekend.

I feel like they could take the SCH template and alter it a bit and turn it into a new class. Much like AST is just a copy of WHM with some cards.

As it stands SCH has no equal and is almost 'required'. Not really a fan of that. If we have two mitigation classes and two pure healing (AST/WHM), I think we'd see a bit more variety.

I don't know, I'd argue that AST also gets most of SCH's basic kit, minus some very important (and broken) parts of it. It's just not as synergistic. If they keep 3 healers for the whole of 4.0 they'll have to either make Nocturnal Sect as good as SCH, or nerf SCH.

Or just give up pretending AST isn't a WHM with a gimmick.
Yoshida seems to be decently wary of pissing off scholars, and they kinda ran themselves into a corner in that you can't really meaningfully balance SCH against AST without also risking making SCH useless.
Some ASTs will never be satisfied until they have the healing throughput of a WHM, the mitigation of a SCH, the DPS of a BLM and their cards can summon Exodia.

Frankly, I think they need to rework how some jobs work in this game, maybe introduce specialisation (skill trees?), and/or create a dedicated "Support" role and rebalance some jobs (namely Bard, Machinist and eventually the Red Mage when it comes out) and encounters around that.

So apparently there is a bonus to get classes up to one another does that apply to the crafting/gathering classes?
Bonus is for combat classes. If you hit max level on one combat class, any combat class you level after that has 50% exp bonus or something. Doesn't apply to non-combat classes.

"We're in the process of adding the items to the Japanese client, so we'll share the official details soon."
Seems to be implied it will be mogstation items.
I'd wager 3.4.

Sourced from here.
Translation of the interview by Slycer, has some neat tidbits.

Sounds like from this interview the first 50 floors of deep dungeon they are implementing for 3.35 are pretty faceroll. He's saying you don't even need healers. Have to wait until 3.45 or 3.5 for floors 50-200 which is the challenging part.

also:
Would you consider making a separate VR game with a FFXIV theme?

Yoshida: I think that's still a possibility. Something like "Miqo'te lessons," and create some space in Idyllshire that only players with VR can enter, and have some kind of Miqo'te paradise. That might be interesting.

This guy knows what's up.
