I don't think a port is very expensive, consoles are almost pcs anyways. Maybe it's even a Game Pass deal and they already got the money back. Game is still crap.

They shouldn't release it at full price, see Death Stranding's example of how to do it properly, it was in the top sellers on Xbox for pretty much the entire month it came out.

But this is Square, so I'm guessing it'll be a $69.99 launch.

I have no idea what a port that is already on a similar console (+ XSS tweaking) costs. But let's say it's 1,5 million. That requires less than 40k sales at 40 Dollar, that shouldn't be a problem, even for Xbox. They will get their money back. No offense, but i bet there work smarter people than you and me and they also know the numbers.

98% of the games that are released have an XBOX version..... Imagine thinking that 98% of the studios in the world are stupid people and make versions of their games for Xbox knowing that they will lose money...

As you say, the reality is that they do it because the potential is there and the objective of every Studio is to squeeze the maximum profitability out of a project. Then people forget that launching on Xbox is more than sales of copies of the game on XSeries. The potential of MS Store, Xcloud, subscriptions, promotions, marketing... The profitability of the projects goes beyond the launch date.
