Lacks the power of instantaneous movement
Well the first time I did it with two 10 lbs on each side (got massive DOMs), this time was with just one 10 lbs on each side, and yeah I feel like my form is getting better by doing it flatfooted.

I can post a vid next time. It's a silver olympic bar
It worries me that you are a frequent contributor to this thread but yet cannot calculate the weight you are lifting. I'm not trying to be mean so I apologize if it comes across in such a manner. If anything, use this as a teachable moment to improve your knowledge.

I have an app that tells me what plates to put on because im a lazy ass that can't do math for shit. I suggest that you download it Ashodin. It's called WeightStacker

My coworker tells me that she wants to do crossfit for a month. I need halp to convince her otherwise. She tells me that her friends do it and they are fit as hell according to her.

Downloaded the 5x5 app yesterday. Is there a way to to start off with a moderate weight rather than no plates? I don't fancy starting at rock bottom again for the next few weeks and putting doughnuts on each end of the bar.

Holy shit, my boss just found out his 2-year old son has Duchenne muscle disease.

Will be in a wheelchair by age 10, unable to feed himself age 15, and dead age 25-30.

Massive sadness in the office.

And here I was thinking this morning about how my traps are small. Jesus :/

Sad to hear. A Neogaf member (dangerbyrnes) mentioned he had Duchenne's in a thread. Best of luck to your boss and his family.

Haha, thanks for the clarification. I read through that imagining something completely different!
Hahaha, yeah. I noticed it might give wrong ideas... and the other jobs it might associate to, well, in them I wouldn't be that surprised if someone would get tipped. :p

I am going to make coconut tasty things this weekend.

Yammy. :p

Anyone else workout at a golds gym?
If I remember correctly DarthWufei uses Gold's.

A question for Danish FitGAF...

Does anyone have a suggestion for a gym to drop in and use over the coming few weeks in the Saltum/Blokhus area?

Racks/barbells a must and a sled/prowler a big bonus.

got a car so some traveling OK but not really planning on driving to Aalborg or anything.

Thanks in advance!

Wish I'd been able to get a PS4 when I planned to, I'd be all over one of those codes Sean.

My two year old was up from 11:30 to 3:00 this morning. As a result, no training today :/. May be for the best though, family coming in tomorrow and supposed to hit an Indian buffet for lunch. I'll make today a low cal controlled carb day, lift tomorrow mid-morning, and eat ad libitum at lunch.

What are your numbers right now for squats, bench, deadlift, and OHP? The program suggests starting with the bar, and to be honest if you're relatively new to lifting that's what you should be starting with. It's setup like that for a reason. Leave your ego at the door, because it doesn't take long before the weight on each lift shoots up pretty high. You're adding 60lbs per month on squat, for example. If you start too high you're gonna burn out real quick and not really benefit from the program.

2 more destiny codes left for you guys.

Remember it only works on an American PS4

Petrie? Black Flag?

Ahhhh, i'm from europe lol. My bad, thanks though. I haven't touched the key yet so you can give it away again.
I can wait, thanks again.

I also have a spare Destiny PS4 code for US PSN, pm me for it!

Well, tonight was my last night of my 9th 1s week. And i did it. Hit 375lbs on squats. To say it felt incredible is an understatement. This entire 1s week was successful. And im on the biggest cut ive ever been on, so that makes it all the more sweeter.

My first 5/3/1 session, I weighed 292.5lbs, and my 1s were:

OHP - 155lbs
Deadlift - 330lbs
Bench Press - 210lbs
Squat - 330lbs

I just finished my 9th 5/3/1 session, i weigh'd myself a week ago and i was 258lbs, and my 1s this cycle were:

OHP - 195lbs
Deadlift - 445lbs
Bench Press - 250lbs
Squat - 375lbs

And i hit all of them successfully. Keep in mind, i just recently turned 36 years old, and this was all done with no belt, no straps, no knee wraps, and this 9th last session i just introduced chalk into my routine. And damn if i don't love it. I also recently got a belt as well.

Looking forward to taking a bit of time off to recover, then hit up the gym to start my 10th session of 5/3/1. Fitgaf, what would i have done without you guys.

I guess she wants to have like a super flat stomach and shit but I told her you dont really need crossfit for that. I should show her some Elgintensity vids lol
Well on the one hand you'll have half a dozen women with "apparently" the body type this woman is looking for, and then on the other hand she'll have her coworker and this video he showed her on the internet of some angry dude saying things she doesn't understand. I think tribalism is going to win out and she will join the Crossfit Amazons. Such is life.

Excellent work Bish, very impressive dedication!

I did deadlifts with chalk on my hands and damn it makes a huge difference in letting you grip the bar.

Yup yup, I lift at Gold's. It's one of the only decent 24 hour gyms here.

Mine is a local chain called Bodyworks but the location I go to used to be a Gold's. I was doing some laundry and glanced at the shirt they gave me and saw a bible verse on it. So, I guess it is a Christian based establishment.

Would not have guessed it from the music that they play. Heard "Scream" by A7X last night lol. There may have been 10 people in the whole place and yet again no one was using the squat racks when I needed to. Hope that continues when fall class at Texas Tech starts up.

Squat. 460 lbs. new 1 rep max. Need to figure out what's going on. I work up to 405 belt less and it all feels light. This should not have been a grinder.

Damn Brolic your strong.
I'm no expert on squat form, but like Matugi said, it looks like you just didn't get sufficient hip drive on the way up. Looks like you can handle the weight just fine, but something went off a bit with the mechanics, is all.

This is why I love my local gym. Plenty of squat racks, six, and they're almost never being used when I go, so I never have had any problems finding one. Compared to my local gold's which only has 2 and there's always people doing stuff that could be done elsewhere, like dumbbell press. Plus the pricing is great, 25 bucks a month, no stupid shitty upfront fees and no contract. Absolutely adore the place.

You weren't going to win that battle no matter how much you show her how dangerous & inconsistent Crossfit is. She has multiple people to convince her otherwise and peer pressure is going to win out in the end.

Put up some injury information and leave it at that.

Dammit reading progress like this puts a tear to my eye. GOOD SHIT!

I have a question for FItGAF and this one is a bit of a doozy.

I got into a heated exchange with an acquaintance of a friend of mine who's pushing all of this Crossfit/300 Workout bullshit like it's the Bible for fitness. Now, he's not a vascular guy, but he's very pompous, slimmer than me, and swears only on the shit that makes you look strong, not what makes you strong.

I've been debating with myself why I even started going back to weight lifting. I'm not playing varsity/college baseball anymore and I don't have an interest for amateur competition. I'd ideally like to have the body I did when I was in HS, looking like Derek Jeter and being lanky but somewhat strong and not having to wear pants that are 40 waist.

My question for you guys and gals is: Is he off base or am I off base?

Should I be doing the bodybuilding splits routines that are targeting the individual body parts, the 300/P90X/Insanity workouts, or stick with the SS/5-3-1 Olympic workouts?

I understand Crossfit is off the table, since they're nothing more than bullshit artists.

A step back on deadlifts today but it's fine, fighting through sciatica think I think is just muscle relatedml. Doc says I can keep lifting as long as I keep my form good and don't go so hard that I'll strain the muscle again.
