Forbes: Marathon Info - Bungie's "Morale is in “free-fall” - “The vibes have never been worse.”

The stolen theft is just a passing issue. It will blow over.

The only real issue is the perception that the game is boring. That's where Bungie needs to put their focus, but that should be largely be solved if they address most of the other complaints.

Most people don't actually care about it.

All that's needed is a few "I was WRONG about Marathon" videos from streamers and the public opinion will sway.

Bungie gotta put their asses to work though.
A couple playtests matter.
I don't know that yhe stolen art thing is gonna blow over. Bungie has done this before and the theft has picked up steam online. At 1st they claimed it was a coincidence but then it turned out that the entire art team followed the original artist.

Bungies underperformed for several years and clued in people know that it's been in a free fall for years. This isn't going away. The art is super bland and looks like the most basic android sci fi theme. It's doa.

Bungie have demonstrated 2 times in a row (Destiny 1 and 2) that they can't pull off a live-service game properly. You still can sell skins and cosmetics for your multiplayer mode, like Call of Duty does.
Huh?

D1 & 2 have been amongst the top grossing, most played games of the last decade, not to mention also 2 of the best games period.

Sure they have had ups and downs but that goes with the territory.

Maybe they just wanted to make an extraction shooter..
It seems like there's a lot of people who would've wanted Bungie to make Marathon a single player experience, but I think the suits see single player and think "one purchase" and see this other extraction style/live service slop as "continuous in-game purchases", which I get from a business standpoint, but I don't think any studio these days making this live service shit are doing it for any other reason than the possibility of it taking off and pulling in GTA5 online revenue. I just think that is a pipe dream and has more to do with luck.

I personally wish this stuff would die off already but as long as there is fortnite, roblox, and gta online making truckloads of cash, we're just going to keep seeing these desperate attempts.
