I find it hilarious how there was never even an official Yas Marina announcement. It just popped up in the launch trailer, followed by the Gamespot gameplay video, but never was it mentioned how this one some big new track.
.

To be honest, who needs words..?

I agree but the way they went out of their way to unveil other tracks like Alps, Silverstone, Spa, Bathurst etc it seems weird to just plop Yas Marina at the end with no fanfare.

Never attempt to understand Forza marketing. As Shakey himself said in King Lear: that way madness lies.

Forza 5 currently sounds more like a case of "how didn't they do it ??"

Great shop.

Are all NDAs now lifted? Was anything confirmed about driving the cars out of the homespace straight from Forzavista?

Sal, it's high time you spuffed all the beans in your Forzanads. The game's almost out!

Is it really? It's like 10 minutes from my house.

Hey ForzaGAF, been reading here forever, but now my account finally got approved, thought it would never happen.

What I've been wondering all along:
There is a code in the Limited Edition which grants you 1.250 car token and the description says you can access every single car in the game with it. So does it mean they changed that system, too? I never used car token but if I remember it right, every car >900.000cr was 3 token to purchase ingame. Now, if there are 1.250 token and only 202 cars, this must mean there is a significant increase of the costs in car token. Even if the description included DLC cars or they added a new tier for hypercars.
I always thought because of that LE code there must be 400+ cars in the game, but then Wednesday happended.
Or maybe I am just getting it totally wrong.

Congratulations! From what I recall, the language is:

"and 1,250 car tokens (a $9.99 value) that will allow Limited Edition owners instant access to any car in the game"

So any rather than every may explain the confusion, though we're admittedly light on some of the specifics.

Phenomenal.

I love well modeled buildings in game.

The replay cameras on the top gear track felt like some of the best in forza 4, but then they used all the tv angles so no wonder why. When it comes to turn 10 making their own angles on tracks they feel off while GT has mostly nailed them since the first game.

So is 450 the cheapest i can get a wheel by importing to Australia? Really want a wheel cause i love the series and can see me playing more in the series etc, but at the same time is the thrustmaster wheel looking any good? keep in mind ive never used a wheeo system before.

to which, anyone's reply should be "its from PGR, you noob".
PGR is the holy bible, if it calls it the behemoth, then it is the behemoth.

Lord's Prayer, from The PGR Bible:

Our Racer in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Your Kudos come,
your will be done,
on Xbox as in heaven
Give us today our daily race.
Forgive us our spins,
as we forgive those who spin against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from boring.
For the kudos,
the power and the glory are yours.
Now and for ever.
Amen.

Just watched people play F5 at a Microsoft kiosk at the mall. And honestly it doesn't wow like the screen shots do. It looked like a higher res F4. The materials inside the cockpits still all look like plastic. I think I'm just not a fan of Forza's art direction. It looks too much like a Pixar movie and less like reality.

well, yeah, but when the r8 was competing officially, it had restrictors on the turbos that where larger than the size of the turbos hehe :D
that engine was a beast , and a masterpiece of technology testbed
;)

This engine was quite the beast as well:

Porsche-917-30_23.jpg

Porsche 917-30 Can Am Engine

The 917/30 was the most powerful sports car racer ever built and raced. The 5.374 litre 12 cylinder (90.0 x 70.4 mm) twin-turbocharged engine could produce 1,580 bhp (1,180 kW) in qualifying tune, with twin turbochargers run up to full boost, 39 psi (2.7 bar), though it usually raced with around 1,100 bhp (820 kW) at 7,800 rpm to preserve the engine. Weighing 1,800 lb (820 kg), giving it a power to weight of 1967.36 bhp/tonne in qualifying tune and 1369.68 bhp/tonne in race tune. The 917/30 dominated the Can-Am series during the 1973 season. The 917/30 could go from 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 1.9 seconds, 0-100 mph (160 km/h) in 3.9 seconds, 0-200 mph (320 km/h) in 10.9 seconds, and on to a top speed of more than 260 mph (420 km/h). The high-level of performance and attendant fuel consumption of the engines, and ever increasing risk, has led to the 917/30 sometimes being cited as the car that killed Can-Am racing.

Ha. Didn't think you would have remembered that car. That reminds me, why haven't we seen anything about painting cars?

But F5 really was a let down in terms of graphics. The steering wheel and hand/arm animations still look unrealistic. The interior definitely didn't look as highly detailed in game as they do in the screen shots.

And my cat is a stoner cheetah with a British accent. I win, no contest.

Was playing GT5 yesterday. The paddle gear change annimation in some cars is much odder and unnatural than what we've seen on FM5. lots of hover hands.

http://jalopnik.com/forza-5-has-300-fewer-cars-than-forza-4-no-nurburgring-1460831891

Forza Motorsport 5 is one of the most anticipated launch titles for the new XBOX One, especially for car fanatics. But the newest car porn game has 300 fewer rides than before, and is missing some of the most celebrated tracks in the world. What's the deal?

UPDATE: Dan Greenawalt, director of Turn 10, called to talk about this. He said that Forza 2, which launched 18 months after XBOX 360 launched, had 12 tracks and 270 cars, with a lot a variants. So Forza 5 already has more cars and tracks than Forza 2, which is one of their highest rated games.

Fans deserve the best content, so they rebuilt the cars from the ground up. They started with nothing, so nothing was "cut." They feel this will give a great experience to the next gen gamer. Look at it like GT3 to GT4, which added content on the same console.

They were working on Forza 5 a year before Forza 4 came out, so they were trying to make this a launch game. Dan loves this type of challenge. Nurburgring would have to be totally recaptured and rebuilt. The shortest track took 9 months to build in Forza 5, so longer tracks would take a really long time. We continue to capture tracks and will do so in the future. Everything that is totally built now is in the game.

Everything accept withheld content(much needed) which you are charging for...

So what about the content that was pulled and publicised as being day one free DLC because it couldn't make the disc? Does that even exist anymore or have they slapped a price on it? I haven't read a thing about it since it was first mentioned.

Edit: Here we go. Not hard to find, either:
“So when you first boot up the game, we’re going to ask you to log in,” he explained. “And when you log in you’re going to get the Drivatars and you’re also going to get a whole bunch of content: tracks and cars. Our production schedule is such that we are putting them in as late as possible and that means making them free as downloadable content on Day One.

[But] that is required content to play the game. We basically have designed the game to work with all that content no matter how late is coming in, in order to make the biggest game possible.”

Real lack of clarity running up to the this launch isn't there? Both in terms of hardware and Forza.

That's being generous. I feel at times Dan is flat-out lying.

That's because he is.

All the bullshit about everything being from the ground up.

All real world circuits being laser scanned.

Only keeping older content if it's very good.

Etc etc.

Wait, Forza 2 really only had 12 tracks? Surely that's without the Road America and Motegi DLC.

Well, let's recount. Forza 2 "enviroments":

Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
Mugello Autodromo Internazionale
Nürburgring Nordschleife
Road Atlanta
Sebring International Raceway
Silverstone
Suzuka Circuit
Tsukuba Circuit
Maple Valley Raceway
New York Circuit
Sunset Peninsula/Nissan Speedway
Test Track Infield

The thing is, counting all the layouts (including reverse versions), it adds up to 47.

I just think they won't be there day one not because they decided they're under a paywall, but because they can't finishe them in time for 22nd. BUT if they are late, they might charge for them, thinking ""well, fuck it, they bought the game anyway, right ? now we can pretend this content is extra and charge for it !"

Dan's quote, and latest news specifying "200 cars and 14 tracks ON DISC" seem to indicate there's more you're entitled to when you buy the game.

But the fact they didn't say anything Beyond that, means they're taking a wait and see approach. Right now, they're advertising it as a 14 tracks game, which means they are currently planning to sell you those 2 tracks they INITIALLY PLANNED TO INCLUDE in the game (disc or day one DLC)

We need clarity, They didn't decide whether long beach and nurburgring are going to be free when they're ready, but i guess it depends on people's reaction.

That's why we should be shitstorming T10 even worse, though, because if gamers are happy, if the game sells well, they will certainly charge for them.

in one of those pics we saw TGTT has 7 ribbons in FM5, for example.

It had 10 in FM4, and that's not including cloudy and sunny versions.

in other news, i made a quick and dirty version of all the gameplay/replay segments in that McLaren feature
Not a montage, just a quick job.

Dan actually makes a lot more sense in your video, eso..! :p

Oh man, I wish somebody would collate the audio from a bunch of interviews and edit it together so that it's complete nonsense. That would be hilarious.

"So for Forza 5... we reverse engineered... human drivers... and let me tell you I'm... into gamers, but... The Stig... is one of my... lovers".

then after the entire dlc plan is communicated, maybe you will do the inevitable youtube "hundreds!!"-"hundreds!!" video.. like the blamer developers-developers one :)
lots of material out there to make us a video worth at least a season laugh pass for forza 5 PR :)

270 is less than 200? Okay.

Nah its about that racing car count crap that annoys me all the time.
1 car with 5 liveries counts as 5 cars, which is total bs.

R8, maraneello 550 gts, porsche gt3 cup and rsr or mc12s should count as 5 cars, but actually they re probably counted as +20.

he is referring to that, but i cant say if his numbers are correct. I am sure that fm5 counts some cars more than once, too.

Shortt Skirt, we need to get an active list of players for the new Forza so we can start adding each other and coordinating sessions.
