Unfortunately I don't think that will be replay angles from the game. Hope I'm wrong though, because they are beautiful.

It looks bad enough in a normal street car but utterly, utterly ridiculous in an F1 car on the much smaller steering wheel.

It's like the driver is receiving an electric shock every time he shifts. And how silly is it going to look when he's shifting down six gears in a couple of seconds?

The pre-race pit crew animations are all nice and subtle, so why the overacting jazz hands in the cockpit?

seems everyone else likes it lol

I dunno we've been plagued with shit replay angles since forza 1 and they constantly creep up in every version... here's to hoping they fixed them. Unrelated, I was really disappointed in the replay angles of forza horizon, wtf guys :(

It's certainly odd that they went from the crab-clawed carnival to this new happy-slappy paddle shifting. How hard can it be to get all our shifting animations in order?

since we never talked about replays, I think they should go for cinematic.
cut 200 rows of pixels from top, 200 from bottom for "dat cinematic view", lock to 30hz and beat the shit out of the gpu
but I dont expect this. unless they already have a special dev team for replays..

I'm sorry, but those shifting animations look fucking idiotic. Distractingly awful. All that good work tarnished...

They could definitely be more subtle, and it'll stand out more just by nature of it reacting to how people play (including shoddy acceleration timing). More of a flick than a firm touch. I guess my reaction isn't quite so...barbed.

Early access... $40.... New IP. No expensive passes or day one DLC as far as I can see. A world of difference in wheel compatibility I'd guess.

and with a team of about 10 people they manage to get a perfect F40 model, weird huh :p

real life vs forza from the other thread

Not in the F1/Audi footage thread they don't. In this one, seems so. But objectivity seems to have taken a bit of a nosedive lately.

You'll get used to it, don't worry.

The Audi driver however, seems a little less aggressive in his gear shifts..

Yeah, this is what I don't understand. The Audi version is a lot more subtle, although still slightly unnatural. Maybe they've toned the action down and the F1 is slightly older footage?

Or maybe it's Microsoft's way of helping Fanatec owners adjust to a gamepad by making cockpit view look so awful people will want to play in chase cam I'M FUCKING JOKING JESUS CHRIST WIND YOUR FUCKING NECK IN.

:p

Who do you think is losing perspective? Like, which specific comments? It seems like everyone's been rolling along, you seem to get upset by any little joke anyone makes.

its not finished...

Going by the site the full game is targetting 23 cars and lists 14 (lol) circuits, of which 1 is a drag strip, 3 appear to be different configurations of Silverstone and Monza is listed twice, although I can let that go as the other is a historic layout which may actually require some additional work.

It's only down to the poor timing that I haven't bought AC yet and probably won't until it is finished.

the difference is these games have insane level of detail as they are much smaller scale, the physics are way beyond games with HUNDREDS of cars simply because of this, and of course this is targeting hardcore sim players, they dont care about the casual top gear fans who like to rewind races..even though they are both considered sims they are at different ends of the scale

oh and i can use my g25 :p

I play the damn things, I know how well they drive.

You are just putting value on extra detail, like I did when I said I'd pay extra for a remodelled F40.

Plus Trento Bondone is a port from netkar.

This shit is all good when it suits you.

you clearly dont if you are comparing to forza, and huh a perfect f40 model comes with AC :p

i think the fact they downplaying 1080p before but boast with forza

OTOH, Forza has always been 1080p60 since E3. The tag has always been there, it isn't new or in response to anything.

There certainly isn't another 1080p60 racing title on either console this year.

:p

maybe it's manual vs automatic.
In manual, game has to react faster to player's button presses, in automatic, animation being slower than actual gearshift is less noticeable, so they can play it slower.

No idea, it looked too fast in SPA video, fine in Silverstone Atom video, too fast again here.

But fuck that, the game looks great, i honestly couldn't care less

Also, lol at gamespot still failing to have those video actually play at 60fps :D

SPA was the only one they didn't mess.

i'm saying in response to cod being 720p they have said it doesnt really matter

But that statement still came after the 1080p Forza 5 announcement, so in this case, it doesn't really matter.

IW have got their graphical issue, problems, vision etc. T10 had theres - it's always 1080p, it's never changed since we've known about it.
Because the rest of the games on the system apart from need for speed are 720/900 and they also said rez does not matter lol
See above lol.

Xan, it's strange to me how much weight you put on the F40 model from over the course of the Forza games, but you also have serious contempt for the new focus on Autovista-quality detailing and accuracy on the cars and engine bays. It's something I've observed and just don't understand.

Like, on the one hand you want unfailing attention to detail on every car (at what sounds like the expense of your enjoyment of the game itself), but on the other, you take serious issue (to the point of not wanting to buy it) when the dev actually does seem to prioritize the accuracy levels you insist on if it means fewer cars. It's even weirder when you dismiss concerns about a very limited selection of accurate cars and tracks in one game (Corsa), but take offense at another game with those same priorities (despite it having many times over more cars and tracks per dollar than the game you just excused).

Is the F40 just sort of a pet peeve for you with the series?

I don't think MS has said such a thing. Maybe Internet publications have, but I haven't seen MS come out and say this.

The game looks great judging from that mclaren video. Wish I had enough to buy an Xbox one as well this month just for this game :(.

See the post above yours, it answer what MS' PR has been 'saying'. It's the start of a new gen, things will be shitty, things have always been shitty. It gets extra shitty when every thread you go in is posting the same self gratifying made up shit and a real conversation can't be had.

there is a difference between level of detail and accuracy, t10 seem to add more and more polys to an incredible inaccurate model, i really though they would update the f40 with forza 3 when they first lied about starting from scratch but no..i didnt expect so for forza 4 because obviously they would use the same models..but forza 5 i really thought they would rectify this long lasting problem, and trust me its not just the f40, its just a huge deal for me as i worship the f40 and have done since i was a child

on the positive side it looks like they may have remodelled the enzo which is a great plus as that model is terrible too..i really hope the gen 1 NSX is a remake too because that is as bad..i know you hate me being negative about this but i have a reason to be..if they fix the forza 1 models (yes i know they have 1000x the polys it doesnt matter) i will complain much, much less

Sure they have, one of their execs responded in twitter that the content is being upscaled so you only see 1080p anyway

So they didn't say that 1080p doesn't matter, is shit etc, is what you're saying when the tacit confirmation there is that 1080p does matter to (some) extent or else why output in 1080p?

YO! what? Mascot you a designer my friend? what you design?

What what?

Mascot is actually a designer at Turn 10.

Ha ha... nothing at all exciting, I'm afraid. I designed the bespoke fabric ceilings for the VIP area (where Tie Dude is standing in p3tran's image). It's where car buyers go to be schmoozed, choose their option packs and gaze out over the factory while their bank accounts are being emptied. Spent a good amount of time in that very spot a couple of years ago watching them build and test the first batches of MP4s. Funny story about the ceilings: McLaren insisted on different backlighting (due to cost) to the dimmable LED arrrays that I'd specified (so the whole ceiling glows evenly with a pure white light). I later heard from contacts at McLaren that the new lamps threw out so much heat that the VIP area still hadn't been used over a year after installation. Not sure how true this was.

I did a similar circular ceiling on a much smaller scale for the launch of the SLR there many years ago. We managed to upset some bloke called Don Rennis (I think that was his name) during installation by accidentally triggering the local sprinkler system. He wasn't happy.

Anyway, back to Forza and it's shitty shifting animations! :p
