If you guys are in Canada, there's XB1 demo booths set up in future shops and best buys in all the major cities from thursday to sunday every week until mid-december. The demo has a one lap race on Laguna Seca, with the Ferrari F12, McLaren P1, MB 300SL, Audi R18, and the Ford Focus ST. I work as one of those persons demoing the XB1.

This week for 15th launch.

All launch games have to be gold this week IIRC

So it's in pre-gold certification right now then? Completely finished? (Apart from the 94GB day one download, natch).

What good stuff is planned for this week, BLIPBLOP?

Yea but forza? Why does it have to launch on the 15th?

I think he's talking about PS4 launch, anyway, this means it's next week for titles launching nov 22.

Don't do this to yourself...

Eh, at this point i don't really care. I have console and game already paid for and i'll see for myself in a month.
I'm just thinking T10 could and should be generating more hype, because from the outside it looks like they haven't really been doing much (also, demoing the game with Laguna Seca -one of the dullest looking track ever- in kiosks is such a bad decision) but we know better. Maybe. :p

Forza does not, I was talking about this week apparently being the deadline for golds for nextgen games launching in 2nd week of November (PS4 games).

Since XboxOne games are also on BluRays and have probably the same manufacturing, packaging, distribution and merchandising demands (including offset bundling) as PS4 games, I think it is safe to presume we are talking about similar scheduling.

Dan Greenawalt rolled his first car before he ever got a chance to have his way with it. A '73 Volvo 145 station wagon, it was a victim of the young driver's rash love of stepping its sizeable tail-end out. "It was rear-wheel drive and had loads of weight at the back, so it was great for drifting," he says, his big blue eyes softening at the recollection.
Coming from a family accustomed to carburettors and driveshafts, Greenawalt's interest in automobiles was endemic of being raised in a community where working with cars was often the only way to earn money. "I was mechanical rather than a mechanic. And the guy that taught me cars, he was a great mentor. I did a bit of racing when I was young, but nothing serious - it was just racing on roads with other assheads."

Having to realistically model suspension movement.

Hmm... just seems like an easy thing to fix. Most of it is would be graphics engine based. Unless open wheel suspensions are that much different from conventional "vertical" ones to cause major differences. I wouldn't know.

Uhhh....

Some fanfic stuff going on here....

I'm sure it's a nice read.

Too bad i don't see new pictures / footage going with the article.
I noticed a number of new articles on Forza, which is good. Unfortunately, though, if this is MS's (T10's ?) way of marketing the game, i can't help thinking there's something wrong with the way the game currently looks :p

read it:
Holy shit, it's actually an article celebrating the bearded one, with little or no info on Forza. And it does read like fanfic.

Greenawalt's a man of neat logic. You can sense that much upon meeting him, his ink-black shirt perfectly pressed, his hair cut to the scalp, his beard impeccably trimmed. You'll get that from his conversation - steady, thoughtful and always working towards a grander point - it carries the practised cadence of at once a lecturer, a salesman and a patient evangelist

Forza Motorsport 5 |OT| A New Age Is Here

Helios, did you receive an answer to the Forzavista question?

I have now, but as the full answer is so cool to reveal it in a casual forum post does it a disservice. It'll be worth the wait though :)

Nick Wiswell says hi btw!

what was Sal's vista question that has this cool answer?
was it about being able to fire up the engines?

CJ, yeah, they're coming along with the space shuttle discovery :D

Thanks mate, sounds interesting indeed!

Hi Nick!

Thumbs up from me!

Well, since the game launches in 30 days it might be the right time to start revealing all those cool features :p

I'm very intrigued how starting the engines is too cool to casually reveal. Maybe you can turn the wipers on and play with the indicators too?
I they let you start it, then Rev the motor a bit and the audio is piped straight from a mic taped to the exhaust tip that would qualify as cool.

I'm guessing you can test drive the cars straight from Forzavista.

Get in, shut the door, start the engine, the homespace melts away and you find yourself on a racetrack full of naked ladies.

The main Forza series is a Sim with assists that allow anyone to play if they want the assists on.

It will never be arcady. That's what Horizon is for.

You think they announce Horizon next year? It was accidentally leaked that Playground is already working on it.

I hope it's as arcade-y and Horizon was and less GT-sim like

Most sim-ish games like Forza and GT give you the option of using assists. So you can actually make them more arcade-ish if you don't like realistic handling.

On top of real car assists like Traction Control and ABS, they have game-specific ones. GT has Skid Recovery and Forza has the option to have steering as Sim or Normal.

Put these on and you have pretty fun arcade handling.

I bloody love Horizon, I will buy an xbox one the day they release a new one. Can only imagine what they'd do with next gen hardware. I'm really hoping for true 100% free roam environments... But that's for another thread!

Forgive me if I am wrong, friend, but doesn't Forza 5 require a day one update so that they can keep working on the game up until launch?

Hmm now that I think about it, I wonder how much content or what specific content they would be working on from the 22nd till launch?

yep* but they still need to send the code for cert and go gold to start printing discs. Day one dlc should be just more content, core stuff should be on the disc.
Unless they're just putting a piece of paper in the case with the code to download the game :p

* edit. Actually no, not required. You can still play most of the game without day one dlc.
