Ok, went through and looked at every Show Room shot.

Almost every other car is sitting in a different spot and some cars are in nearly the same spot, but turned to the left or to the right. Some are facing in the complete opposite direction despite being in the same area.

All this in the same "home space/showroom". Also, some cars have their tires turned left, some right, some straight. Did they program every car to be in a different position in the show rooms or is it something we control?

I'm wondering if you can position, drive, move, or setup the cars any way you want. Even with a driver in them. Maybe you can drive them straight out of the showroom to a test track? I don't think that's likely though.

I'm noticing that the tyres are looking better every time. Also, the tread, patterns and style of sidewall is different too..

*yawn*

Enough with the street cars, show us some proper racers, Turn 10. Pretty please? LMP, GT, Group C, F1, it doesn't matter, although it wouldn't surprise me if the modeling demands of Forzavista has resulted in a drastically reduced number of racecars.

That R8 V10 Plus looks superb, though.

Hey - get your own fucking theories!

:p

Damn what's with the reflections/lighting in that homespace? Graphics look pin sharp but damn it just looks too forced and not realistic at all.

Shaders on the wheelarches as mentioned looks great though. This just seems a bit of a mixed bag to me, about time they showed some more racing.

Is it just me, but the Mini looks to sit on the ground, whilst the R8 'floats'. And just a bugbear of mine, why are the tyre manufacture logos STILL not visible? Is it the way T10 build the tyre in their GFX engine?

Yeah sounds like a disguised ad. Isn't that the first mention of Sebring BTW ?

What worries me the most at the moment is the lack of Japanese track hints/rumours. Motegi can be ditched if you ask me (replace it with Fuji or Okayama) but I don't want to loose Tsukuba nor Suzuka, especially Suzuka, this track is just so good.

I'm not wild about Tsukuba, but Suzuka is absolutely one of my favorite tracks.

I find it weird that whenever they post the link to the weekly reveal on facebook the very first question is almost always "is this on 360?" how do people know enough to follow, care enough to comment, but not know the platform?

Yeah, I don't get it. If these guys can do it, why can't everybody else?

remember, it hasn't been confirmed that it is 1920x1080p...

the way things are going it could very well be a "PR" 1080p.

Also, the jaggies are everywhere with this game, making me think that whatever resolution they got it running at is so strained that they couldn't afford any AA solution.

Turn 10 have always favored a higher res and 60fps vs AA and a lower res or framerate.

And no doubt we'll get better IQ when hot-lapping and in replays compared to full grid races. I'm happy enough with that compromise if it remains.

more like you dont know what you are saying...

it has been confirmed 1080p/60 since a looong time ago.

Totally agree. Way too stylized, way over eager.

I get that it can look good.

Don't have to use a hammer.

I didn't notice that before lol. It is actually floating about an inch off the ground.

Alien technology confirmed.

this is also wrong.
you are free to up the brightness to stupid levels until you realize that car sits on the ground.

what you may misunderstood, is the outside end of the tire that touches the surface.
but if you look at the upper outer edge of that same rear tire, you will understand better ;)

It's the shadow cast by the window light that creates the illusion of it floating :)

I'm sorry, but that wheel is not touching the ground. Unless light can pass through it lol.

In the end, who cares. It's just a random promo shot.

are you willing to bet that the car -> " It is actually floating about an inch off the ground."
like you say?

I mean, if you are going to photoshop, at least go for the proper reasons...
1223o3aox.jpg

Perhaps it is touching the ground, but the shadow map underneath the car seems off compared to the other showroom shots, not so much depth. Also, the lack of deformation of the tyre as it 'touches' the floor is a little off putting, but this maybe due to the ultra low profile tyres.
But as has already been stated, this is only a promo shot and in the grand scheme of things, it really doesn't matter.

I'm just dying for some info on any improvements to the livery editor and tuning shop.

I really pity those T10 workers on 12hr 7day crunch schedule, the pressure must be immense.

The picture I posted wasn't photoshopped. It was just the raw image enlarged.

Anyway, I'm not even going to continue this argument because it's so stupid and pointless lol.

yes, whatever image edit software you are using..

a good practice would be first to make sure what you claim is valid (car floats in the air one inch above ground), for example by upping the brightness in your image editor like I wrote
THEN
after you verify that what you thought is right, then proceed to cut and enlarge with that editor, no matter if its gimp of photoshop or whatever

;)

so, is that car floating in my pic?
its only the original pic with a lot more brightness

Also, the lack of deformation of the tyre as it 'touches' the floor is a little off putting, but this maybe due to the ultra low profile tyres.

tires are clearly different than mini tires, they have very different "side walls".
if you look at that audi rear tire in the upper side like I wrote before, profile is clearly visible.
also you have to remember that the deformation of the tire in forza has a lot to do also with tire pressure, other than size and type.

but to see a sports car with 19-20" inch wheels and ultra low profile tires, to have its tires bending out of shape when it simply stands still.... hmm... unless it is deflated... hmm.. I'd say nope ;)

bottom line: 2 weeks ago we saw that ferrari that tires were wrong. it was fixed.
this time, I see no wrong. or at least, the audi does not float and the tires should not be deforming.

I'll step in and help clear the whole floating thing up.

It's the lighting and shadows being similar in color. The lighting appears to be "under" the tire due to the curvature of the tire.

I know what P3tran is trying to show, but I'm not sure he understands how to show the lighting and the illusion it creates (no offense p3tran).

This should help...as you can see the shadow starting for the tire...it just blends to the same color, unfortunately. Here you go...below. I changed the shadow levels to hopefully show where it starts.

Yep, that about wraps it up.lol

There's usually a rational reason for things, it just didn't seem right to my eyes.

that i don't know, i think you really need to see it in person.
I remember comparison pics and videos between FM2 and 3; sometimes you'd have a hard time telling them apart and yet, on your tv, FM3 looked like a completely different game
Good point.

The Mini is the most realistic one.

The plastic around the wheel arches almost looks real.
Its the tires for me. Those tires look amazing.

I'd dump Tsukuba and bring back the old Tokyo circuit. But that's just me.
I like you.

offence TAKEN! 8)

I am no graphic artist but upping the brightness sure shows better that car is not floating one inch above the ground, than painting more shadows. plus its faster and easier.

guys, you can bet your fuckin'asses that whatever is wrong with forza, I will hammer it more than most of you combined. ;)
so, find me something else valid to yell at, and not the (non)floating r8.
and no, it shouldnt bend its tires either!

edit:
dump tsukuba
I like you.

I am a graphic artist and engineering inspector silly. I took graphic/traditional arts and 3D modeling in school, but ended up in the Engineering field (despite wanting to work in games).

I didn't paint any shadows, it's just a brightness balance shift between the two areas. :p

so you stick around here and maybe get another degree like most of us have, forza screen and direct feed inspector.

LOL

I think this whole forum qualifies for their degree in Screenshot Over-analyzing

Myself included.

graphic artist wanting to get into games industry, but still stuck on NeoGAF making gifs? Sounds familiar.

Oh, I gave up the games industry thing like 8 years ago..lol. I like my job. I get to hang out on here....and still get my job done.

Working in game development, and/or industry, seems like it would be hugely stressful right now.

truthfact.

Car isn't floating, it's just the window's shadow creating an optical illusion.

That dark line below the tire tricks you into thinking that's the wheel's shadow, and that brighter triangle it creates between itself and the rubber gives you the illusion it is floating.

tires5zaq.jpg

it doesn't help that the picture has some post processing applied. Clarity, especially, which creates a bright halo around dark edges
