What would it be more fun/doable in ladder Echomage or Malymage?
Is sylvannas really that good? Just seems so easy to silence or play around, idk. Only leggys I have are crafted boom and pulled ysera and malygos.
Honestly I'm leaning towards getting antonidas with my dust, since he would flip Mage from boring to making a casino build I'd find very fun. Do any decks run maly archmage and ysera lol or any combination of two of those (with thaus obviously)? I don't own all the cards anyway so almost any high tier deck I'd have to make replacements. I have enough to make archmage worth it tho
I'm running a spell-heavy effigy-mage that runs Maly, Archmage and Emperor (plus Rhonin).
This is modified from Kibler's Effigy mage deck, I decided to take out healbots and spellslingers for more spells. The key to the deck is ensure that you don't keep one of your low drops on the board if you have your secrets out (maybe except for flamewaker with duplicate up) so that you can get value from the secrets.
Having a bunch of low cost spells isn't really that bad when you consider the amount of synergy in the deck. Arcane Blast becomes a 4 damage spell with drakes (12 with maly), a cheap activator for flamewakers, or simply a card that nets you a fireball with archmage. Its also great against most early game drops.
Often times I'll be spending turns clearing the opponent's early game while setting up duplicate/effigy for my 5+ drops. Emperor with both effigy + duplicate up is game winning since the opponent is far less likely to have removal for the subsequent emperors. Against the more aggressive decks, doing the same thing with Belchers will prove to be pretty effective. A single Arcane Explosion works as the token killer, or a consecrate with drakes. Emperor after getting arcane missiles from Rhonin into 24 hits of arcane missiles with Malygos, Emperor into Archmage with a bunch of 0-2 mana spells generating 3++ fireballs, etc. Plenty of shenanigans to be had with the deck.
Can't say if its better than the typical tempo mage, but it gets some really crazy moments sometimes. I guess its kinda of accurate to call this a hybrid control-combo deck?
