Hearthstone |OT8| Elise's Extremely Irresponsible Field Trip To Un'Goro

rage on....

Seriously, agro decks destroys a pleasant experience in ladder...

How Blizzard think it is balanced these kind of opening?

First, it should be IMPOSSIBLE to have a board to kill a Doomsayer on turn 2... in order to deal with it, players should use cards like crazed alchemist or silence... this alone shows how busted these 1 drops are...

But no...

Warrior going first:
Turn 1 - Small Time Buccaneer (1/2) + Patches (1/1)
Turn 2 - Fiery War Axe (3/2) + 3/2 from Buccaneer + Patches...

And worst:

Shaman going second:
Turn 1 - Trogg (1/3) + Coin + Bucanneer (1/2) + Patches (1/1)
Turn 2 - Jade Claw (2) + Bucanneer (3/2) + Trogg (2/3) + Patches (1/1) and the Golem (1/1)
and I have already taken 10 damage at turn 2... and completely lost the board..

Dont know how they think it is fair to have completely broken 1 drops...

What if there was a card that played like an anti patches?

Let's say, 1/1 with taunt. Cannot attack. Is summoned when an enemy minion is summoned from the deck.

Would you really play a 1/1 taunt for 0 mana? I sure wouldn't.

I think a better card with more specific conditions could work. A good anti-aggro patches style card could be something like if turn is less than 3 and there are 3 enemy minions on the board, play 3/3 taunt or something.

So, my reno Krul lock is just too slow. My win condition is super weak to board clears, so I'm losing the control match-ups too often. It's good vs aggro but can still lose to a super fast start or unanswered Frothing.

It's incredibly fun when it wins but I'm not here to lose playing a fun deck.

Started trying to figure out a wild Reno Mage, only played one game so far and I crushed the Nzoth Hunter I queued against. It helped that he burned both kill commands before I renoed. Never even drew or played my Ice Block or Mad Scientist.

Any all in board decks seem super frustrating to play in this meta.

I really enjoyed patrons last expansion but they seem unplayable now even in wild.

Just got my 500th win as Paly against some dude named OctupusPorn. LoL

I mean, people are playing a 1/1 charge for 0 mana...

I think that says more about charge and aggro being OP than anything else.

I'm no card designer, just a thought at something that is specifically designed to slow a specific deck. I said 1/1 thinking specifically as a counter to patches.

The better solution is to just change Patches. It's not good for the game to have a card like this floating around.

@Levi: Secret Mage seems kind of fun. Not sure how you feel about secrets.

I think Patron Warrior might be permanently dead now. :(

Grats to you both! and lol that name
Thanks! :-D This was a stressful month, to be sure.

they are not changing Patches lol they been working on him for literally two yrs (as stated in Interview with Blizzard design team)

Obviously they would have to nerf STB (if something needed nerfing- but I dont want anything to change I adapt and overcome)

Granted, atm I am enjoying the fast meta. If pirates get nerfed then I suspect/fear that the Dragon Priest era will truly begin. Entomb + Brann + Dragon Operative. Screw that!!!

edit- (People always think the Grass will get Greener but they are mistaken this game will totally suck
ass
. Patches you are in CONTROL NOW!)

@Levi: Secret Mage seems kind of fun. Not sure how you feel about secrets.

Not a big fan of the deck, which I tried a little after MSG launch. Secrets are usually tempo-negative and the secret synergy cards aren't strong enough to make up for that. Of course, the deck might have been refined since then, or the meta might have shifted to favor that style of play, but I'd rather play a control style mage deck regardless.

Thanks for the suggestion though, I had forgot that was even a thing. :D

Reno Mage continuing to climb in vS's weekly power rankings. Hunter on the other hand seems to be hibernating.

I'm always in shock when people say they prefer the Karazhan meta to this one. Karazhan was so one-dimensional compared to what we have now.

Hunter hibernation is such a great thing. So many crappy decks not on the Ladder right now I love it. I see hardly no priest, no control warrior, & virtually no Hunter. It's like all my enemies have went into hiding

I cannot thank Patches & Co enough. I was so fed up with Priests stealing all my stuff.

Priests are so bad for business financially. I keep thinking Legendaries are the worst things to have in your deck since even a bad priest can scry your deck (better than you can I might add) and use it

I've been saying this for the longest of times greedy decks get punished way too hard and the camel's back finally broke and Everyone has gone Aggro

Brann + Dragon Operative was the final straw even for me

Eventhough Operative is overpowered, Dragon Priest is a lot of fun to play.*

Didn't saw Patches today (because nobody playing it is still rank 15) but they should change it to "If your opponent kills on of your pirates, summon Patches from your deck". He says "I'm in charge, now!". That signals to me that he takes over so someone has to die. Gives one the chance to react to the card, too.

*If you have the right draws.

I update my other post to point to the Interview btw

I think that's a very bad change to Patches. So many control decks will just be content to let you deal chip damage and then they can just put down Doomsayer. How would the game handle spawning patches? Does he spawn at the moment after the first pirate gets killed? If so- then Patches gets caught

Like the interview says- they been debating Patches for 2 years and they had to wait for the other pirates to rotate out

He's already been thought through. STB is the real killer. I execute him no question when I see a Pirate warrior play him. Granted, I'm also using fast decks cause I hate getting punked by Priests just in case one shows up on my Ladder (so I try to avoid Greed decks usually- I love using legendaries that suck if a priest steals it)

if they didn't nerf mad scientist, they sure af aren't going to nerf patches, brosefs. i think u all forgot how insane the tempo gain from that card was and how everyone complained and they never did a thing. tbh mad scientist is more powerful and allowed hunter and mage to always have top ladder slots for its entire existence

omg mad scientist is so nasty ;(

I wasn't here during those dark times so not sure how to deal with him. Guess the best recourse is to polymorph him? lol I have no idea I see Secret mages and Pallies spamming them on Wild. so I came back to Standard ladder for some fresh air

You can't deal with him in ant cost effective way.

As strong as mad scientist was, we're talking about a meta that had a high all around power curve. Sludge belcher and healbot existed. Strong neutral options existed to counter aggressive hunter and mage decks. And mad scientist actually contributed to slowing down mage, which when removed kind of turned tempo mage into an all in aggro deck at times.

I think patches is stronger because of the fact that he costs literally 0 resources. And is incredibly consistent. Hunter/mage didn't always have mad scientist on turn 2 and off curve he wasn't exactly the shiner he was on curve. Then mad scientist was only used in 2 decks. Patches has found it's way into way more decks and more in wild and potentially more in standard sets to come.

As bad as mad scientist was, I think patches is worse. And there is more protest at patches too imo.

@sonic, they didn't nerf mad scientist because they rotated him into wild. Just like they chose not to nerf either totem golem or tunnel trogg. But they did nerf call of the wild, because like patches it'll stick around in standard for a long time.

Yes Patches is stronger. Scientist was Blizzards answer to their problem of no-one using secrets, they just printed an OP enabler for secrets. For Paladin it didn't matter since their one-mana secrets weren't still strong enough and thus MC was born to correct that imbalance.

HS follows the design philosophy of "everyone has OP cards and so they balance each other out".

Mad Scientist would have been nerfed if they didn't plan to rotate it out soon. Same for Shredder.

Patches is going to stay in the game for 2 years, it will get the stick guaranteed. Probably around the start of new rotation is my guess.

Watching one of Kripp's videos today and he drafts Prince Malchezaar as well as a couple pirates. He quips that he can't wait to play a pirate and have Patches come out.

Then it actually does happen!

Can't imagine how much salt would be flowing if that same thing happened to him though.

Would anyone play patches if your opponent decided when to summon him? Wouldn't he just be a worse version of Noble Sacrifice?

Been playing wild, sludge Belcher is such a great card
Went up against a Pirate Warrior in wild. Managed to play Sludge Belcher on turn 5, Sludge Belcher with redemption on 6 and Nzoth on turn 10 for 6 Sludge Belchers in that game lol. It's such a great taunt card. Most of the taunts in Standard suck really badly.

Game is in such a weird state right now. I can play an incredibly intense 30-45 minute control/reno matchup, where you have to really think about your moves to maximize value for every card in your deck, and then immediately play against a degenerate aggro deck and win or lose in 5 minutes. I love to play reno priest, but I can't consistently level up because of the Patches bullshit that you see 1/3 of the time.

Long story short, on the control side, the game is awesome right now. On the aggro side, it's horrible. I do wish Blizzard would finally nut up and kill hyper-aggro forever.

He's one of the most hated Hearthstone streamers in the community, actually, because he uses Twitch view bots to boost his viewership, cheating his way to the top of the viewing charts which gives him an unfair advantage and reduces the visibility of other streamers who don't cheat.

if you ask me to choose between 5 minute aggro and 30 minute control matchups, I'd pick aggro, because at least that's quick for laddering. For fun I'd still pick aggro because pure control matchups are miserable.

A healthy variety is best.

Oh I need to read this. Links?

11-0 in ranked today with Dragon Priest. Every deck that ran PPP against me drew Patches on mulligan, and I beat them all. I may never have a better day of HS in my entire life.

Can I see your deck?

I have bad day against PW today with dragon priest.

It used to be easy match. And it seems I'm running out of steam today.

Alright, I'm having so much fun playing Renolock in Wild that I'm at rank 3. If we had more time left, I might think about going to legendary this month for the first time.

I also played some Secret Hunter in Standard, and man, people at the low ranks make some bizarre decisions. This Pirate Warrior actually kept going face instead of killing my Leeroy.

I had that happen once this month - incredible luck on your end.

Why is everyone on casual playing Aggro Shaman and Miracle Rogue on casual

Just trying to get one damn Hunter win

Casual is a weird mix of people trying out new decks, running Tier 4 decks (Hunter and Paladin) and people running Tier 1 decks for fast questing.
