Indiana Jones is selling more on PS5 than Xbox/Steam

It's sad to see. Does anyone have an idea why it underperforms like this? It's an amazing game. But maybe Indiana Jones is not a thing anymore.
I wanted it from reveal, but was initially put off by the split release date but eventually didn't buy it because the PS5 game isn't on the disc - which is a line in the sand for me on single player games, so it will be got eventually at a suitable coffee coaster price.

If they can't release games in the same offline capable way that Nintendo and PlayStation do for their releases I doubt I'll be buying any Microsoft games on PS5.

But why? It's coming to PS5 and PC as well... frankly wouldn't be surprised if it comes to Switch 2 in a few months too.
Would be a smart decision.
I'm glad the game is getting sales. Should have never been a staggered release in the first place. The days of Xbox selling hardware through exclusives is over. Their hardware pitch now needs to be power and convenience.
What sales? If these numbers are correct, it was a major fail.

Indiana Jones is not an IP most kids care about and frankly, the recent woke Disney garbage hurts it.
Because it looks mediocre.
I don't understand this. What didn't you like about it? Game was truly incredible. I used to dream of games like this when I was a kid.
🙄

Like c'mon, if you're gonna make cheap drove-by posts at least be somewhat accurate. Cringe, dude.

Like, major cringe.
Let's not attack people on subjective opinions, especially if you begin written sentences with verbal filler words. Get along, youngins.

That's the idea, PlayStation users pay for individual MS games, for PC/Xbox/xCloud users to play at launch with a subscription.

Keep supporting the industry my dear friends, GamePass subscribers thank you.

These numbers make me real sad. Hopefully the MAU or whatever the fuck numbers they use for their financial goals keeps the studio afloat.

Would be interesting to see how forza horizon does in comparison

PS gamers have to fund Xbox games because a $3 trillion corporation won't?

If it helps you sleep better at night, I'm all for supporting the industry.

And so, a new narrative is born.

I just can't keep up anymore, you people just can't seem to be able to take the L

I love Indiana Jones a ton, but this game... I don't know why people were saying this was GOTY for them. It's very linear, and the combat isn't very good. The only thing it has going for it is Indy and the story seems really good. But I'm playing a video game, not watching a movie. The actual gameplay is just weak. After Uncharted 4, why couldn't we get that?!
I agree with you. The game isn't bad by any means, it's actually a good-ish game, but it could have been so much better. Graphics, combat animations, lighting, voice acting, story, are all good to great.

However, the ratio of inactivity-to-action is too damn high in the game, and it can get boring pretty fast. The gameplay itself can be boring at times, and everything in this game is just TOO. DAMN. SLOW.

I mean, even for opening a door, the player literally has to perform 3 goddamn functions: select the key, put the key in the keyhole, literally turn the key to open the door. WTF!

Some people complain about walking corridors and conversations in Sony games, but games like Uncharted have high-octane action, and the ratio of action-to-inactivity is always good. Here, people don't seem to mind the slowness and lack of gameplay at all. I think it's a good game but way overrated.

What narrative is new?

Ever since the PlayStation and Switch ports started, people (including Sony fanboys) have been saying that this was a consequence of the Xbox's low user base and the GamePass day one game policy, and that the ports are a way for MS to compensate for these problems.

You MS haters and Sony fanboys have been saying this literally all the time, so congratulations guys, it's all thanks to you.

About "take the L", I don't know what that is as a PC user, could you please explain it to me?

It's estimated that Indiana Jones sold 117.2K copies on PS5 as of April 23, 2025

Holy shit.. bomba.

These staggered releases clearly don't work.

The real story here is actually that the sales numbers seem quite low in general for the game.
Yea this is my take as well, these numbers are low.

I played through the game and the entire time I wished it had simply been Uncharted but with Indy.
Instead, it's a Dishonored like open world playground.
There is only a couple of those big action set pieces similar to what Uncharted served up.

It did have that exploring and finding lots of little puzzles everywhere thing. But really I just wanted big explody fly by the seat of your pants action.

I don't understand this. What didn't you like about it? Game was truly incredible. I used to dream of games like this when I was a kid.
Graphics are hit and miss, animations look mediocre, the art direction is good, but the world look very sterile amd combat looks really bad.

It's saving grace is the lighting/RTGI, that basically acts like smoke-n-mirrors.

I don't even think the IP is the issue. That's just an excuse people use t o avoid the above.

And that doesn't mean people can't or shouldn't enjoy the game, clearly there was no appeal to the masses whatsoever.

Sea of Thieves sold around 10 million copies on Steam alone.

Does this mean you're counting Steam as part of the 'xbox ecosystem' ?
PC is one demographic though, imo, which is part of the Xbox eco-system since people like you always like to point out that MS always supported PC.

Steam is just a storefront.
That's like saying that I'm not part of the Playstation eco-system if I buy my games at MediaMarkt.

IMHO, that is a good thing. My 2 cents is they absolutely nailed the experience of being Indiana Jones as portrayed in the original trilogy.

"Only a couple big action set pieces" describes the original LucasFilm movies to the letter. The bulk of them were about solving puzzles and working with colleagues, not running and gunning with constant adrenaline sequences. Across the three films, I can only think of 5 or 6 instances of Indy using a gun.

It wouldn't make sense for Indiana Jones to run around shooting from hip cover taking out rooms of foes with scavenged weapons like Nathan Drake. That's just not Indiana Jones.

I think the biggest disconnect that brings the game down is the first person view. It was… fine. Playable. But it took me out of the Indiana Jones fantasy when all I saw most of the time were disembodied hands.

Indy wishes it was half as good as an Uncharted game.

nathan drake but uncharted is soooo dear to meit has a special place in my heart GIF

I'm a hopeless with Indiana Jones, I'll watch it every night of the week given the chance and I've been fawning over the character all my life. I played and finished The Great Circle on PC and it was enjoyable, I thought it was an admirable and well crafted experience. But I still rather they would have made it more like an Uncharted game.

Wait, you telling me the game is selling more on a platform with a much larger customer base which also lack of the subscription service where the game is available since 6 months ago? Wow, amazing

Those numbers don't look like anything to shout about to me. Seems like it's did shit everywhere it was released.

For me, it's a "sale game" and I'll probably grab it later in the year for nostalgia if nothing else. Maybe there's a lot of people thinking like me and it'll have a long tail, we'll see I guess.
