Jez Corden suggests 'Indiana Jones' wont be exclusive. Contested by Nick, admits old info 'could be wrong'

Even if it won't be Xbox exclusive, I hope that it will be current-gen exclusive. Not trying to start any kind of console fight, but PS5 and XBSX/S have been out for 18 months now and I'm hoping to see games coming out in 2023 that aren't being hamstrung by the previous generation.
So you think games like Horizon Forbidden West, Forza Horizon 5 and Gran Turismo 7 are hamstrung, while games like Deathloop, Returnal and Destruction All-Stars are not?

Yeah. At the end of the day there isn't a rule for these things. They sign deals for whatever reason. It all depend on the parties involved

The water gets murky like with the Sunset Overdrive ip. That is owned 100% by Sony but they can't even put the only game out in the franchise on their own system without Microsofts ok. (if I understand correctly)

“Not Xbox exclusive” could also mean its coming to PC, not Playstation. How about we just wait until the actual reveal instead of stupid speculation that doesn’t even amount to a fart in the wind?
im going to laugh if it means also on PC

We already know it is going to be on PC so that isn't what they are talking about.

How could it be exclusive if it was already multiplat? It's one silly example.

A game can be on one platform, then only on it's rival platform for it's next iteration. We've all seen this happen before. But again, that was never my point to begin with. Not sure why you and others are trying to argue that MS is more open than Nintendo or Sony having it's games on other platforms. Hence my earlier posts. Do you get it now?

Nah. Microsoft doesn't view PC as a separate platform. Starfield, Hellblade 2 and all other first party games count as Xbox exclusives, even tho they're all coming to PC. To Microsoft, Xbox and PC are one and the same.

Yep. Being isolationist is like saying they just don't want more money. Stockholders tend to disagree with that.

The guys in the podcast. Jez and the other dude.
Isn't it all rumor though? I know some think of him as a ms mouthpiece but he probably doesn't know whether this is true or not.

I suspect the game will be shown again next month and I'd assume platforms would be announced shortly thereafter

Wasn't this announced sometimes before the merger? I could be wrong tho.

Wonder how good it will be, Machines games releases have quality decline.

Entirely a rumor at this point. Jez is the only one saying anything as far as the game's exclusivity at this point.

The game was announced after the acquisition was announced, but prior to the deal closing.

lol Microsoft what are you doing?

Why spend $8 billion to make games for PlayStation?

But then again Sony is letting bungie make games for Xbox so wtf do i know. Maybe Sony and ms are colluding behind the scenes.

I think MS bough themselves a ton of leverage with Sony. Sony was trying to moneyhat Starfield before MS bought Bethesda. If MS wanted to they could just make COD exclusive after a few years and completely fuck over Sony.

I don’t think they will because the only people who get screwed in those moneyhat deals/ arbitrary exclusives are gamers. But then you have the really sad fanboys who cheer this stuff on.

I keep hearing that Sony were trying to moneyhat starfield but there's no actual evidence for this at all.

Jez has no idea what's going on at Bethesda. He'll find out at the same time with all of us if it's exclusive or not. I don't think any of the usual known Xbox insiders have leaked one accurate thing about Bethesda over the last few years.

There's no actual evidence of what this topic is about either. Whatever we know comes from insiders.

But still, people keep repeating it every now and then, but there was never any evidence.

So i'm not sure why people even keep saying it.

Because Microsoft is a software/service company first and foremost? All of their non Xbox software are available everywhere. Xbox is the outlier here.

People believe it because it came from trusted insiders and no one has debunked it. And based on how Sony has been operating lately there's really no reason to doubt it. They literally got the only other two Bethesda games that have released this gen lol.

Let's not kid ourselves that this game would come to PlayStation If it were up to Microsoft alone. Microsoft is pretty much forced to honor the existing deals between Sony and Bethesda. Like others have already pointed out, why make Starfield or TES6 exclusive If you are only interested in software sales?

In this case Disney probably has the last saying on what platforms their IP gets released on. I'd guess it doesn't sound smart for Disney to skip PlayStation which is the biggest platform for AAA games.

No it doesn't work that way. You can just change the deal because you can pay them enough. Papers are signed agreement is made.
There is nothing to it. Hell is not even guaranteed to be on gamepass lol
It does though. It's called negotiation.

Any and all contracts can be modified or nullified, AT ANY TIME, dependent only upon agreement of all involved parties.
I learned that in my freshmen year of high school in introduction to business.

That being said, it's not likely that Microsoft would want to renegotiate because Disney could rake them over the coals. The "favorable terms" for excising Playstation sales would likely be substantial and compounded.

I know Microsoft are more interested in chasing Game Pass, but they need to have exclusive games on their system to sell consoles.
They have loads of console exclusives, obviously PC is their platform as well so that's not an issue. If you're just referring to this game, it's obviously a previous deal made with Disney that's made this multiplatform. I think it's great this Indy game is on all platforms, it's a loved and well known IP.

Going forward we know Microsoft are playing hardball with Gamepass and making games they have complete control over console exclusive. Starfield couldn't be a better indicator of that given it will be the biggest release for many years.

It's more of that MS cares about profits, and doesn't care about anything. Day1 pc and gamepass.
As long as there are profit to make, they won't make anything exclusive.

They made starfield exclusive only for gamepass. Without that, I doubt they would have made it exclusive. Bethesda(the studio) games makes alot of money.

There is as much 'evidence' for that rumour as there are for a lot of rumours that end up 'fact' on here.
Besides its common sense really. You really think they moneyhatted fucking Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo but didnt try and get Starfield?, come on now.

It will be announced as exclusive I think though it wasn't before. I think this is just a buildup because most people don't give a shit about the game in general. Now they might.

The question should have always been why spend $8 billion to buy a company then take their games away from the platform where they sell most of their games?

There is nothing new about this, this is how MS handled Minecraft and in the case of Bungie, despite Xbox not being the platform where they sold most copies they still make a lot of money selling games there.

Starfield is going to be the test run for MS removing these games from PlayStation and it better massively boost Gamepass sales or sell tons of copies otherwise it won't make sense for them to keep doing it. Console war ain't going to dictate anything, this ain't the 90s.

Business.
Plus who cares which platform they sell alot?
The entire point of exclusives is to make your system attractive.

But considering what MS is doing now, they want people on gamepass. So bethesda games on gamespass means alot to them.
We saw what Sony did to deathloop and ghost wire tokyo. MS doesn't want that.

All new Xbox exclusives come to PC. Every first party title launches day and date on console and PC game pass.

This certainly means PlayStation consoles because Jez definitely isn’t talking about Stadia.

Yes, you’re right. But so is the fact that they’re a service/software company first and a hardware company. If they think it makes more sense to keep their games multiplat, that’s what they’ll do.

You don’t know that. No one knows that.
All that you wrote is moot.
The fact is that Microsoft is a software/service company before anything else and that their software are platform agnostic.
Those are the facts.

"a timed exclusive is eventually not exclusive, but a purchased company is forever exclusive" - shigeru miyamoto, i think
All games make most of their money on the 1st year. Losing that means less revenue.

Aside of that, this is business. If you want to expand your business, you have to buy other people, if you can. Or else, you wont grow your brand normal way, if you don't buy other companies.

It's unfair for us normal gamers. But to these companies, it's another day of making more money.

I did originally think this would be an exclusive for Xbox but I had very little interest in the fact, now that it’s coming to PlayStation I still couldn’t care less.

I dont believe it. Probably try and make it a big thing when it is exclusive.
if its true, than its a waste of studio that could be making something exclusive to xbox. Wasnt that the whole point of acquiring studios
