JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders |OT| ATTEMPT NO MANGA SPOILERS HERE

I don't think that's really true, considering a huge portion of the fanbase were in fact introduced to the franchise through Stardust Crusaders before anything else. Even without knowing the full story in Phantom Blood, there's more than enough exposition in the story explaining the only plot points which really matter in the story itself. It's one of those things which I think people already familiar with the material will feel people who don't know it are "missing out" but it isn't really that relevant overall.

There are quite a quite a few posters who I presume, judging from their posts, are not at all familiar with ANY Jojo material.

In that respect, I think its crucial that they watch Phantom Blood (Part 1), in order to appreciate everything that comes after it, especially the newest arc that just started airing, Stardust Crusaders (Part 3).

The characters, the history of the Joestar family....just the nits and grits of all that is Dio (his scheming), Ripple, the Zeppeli's....gotta watch Part 1 folks. You'll be better off for it.

It makes for a MUCH more enjoyable experience when watching the other parts of the series as a whole. Again, mostly diirected at those who have NO Jojo knowledge. Stardust Crusaders giving a tiny snipet of an overview of part 1 does it no justice.

I'd watch part 1-2 first just to be clear of spoilers for those parts. Part 1 especially for Stardust Crusaders.

The problem with Jotaro is that he is so vanilla (Baddass Japanese schoolboy streetpunk) but considering how old Stardust Crusader is its somewhat forgivable.

But yea Giorno is the worst by far. And the problem with him is that he doesn't really have a personality and most of the battles with him are a bore to go through.

Jotaro is way better than Jonathan though. Also we really shouldn't be talking about the next parts in here, even if it's just the protagonists.

Jotaro is better in part 4. He's a great side character.

Yep, Part III JoJo is a bit of a high school goon, he's a pretty wise character in 4. I still enjoy him as a badass punk though.

I really enjoyed this 1st episode, this is far closer in tone to the original manga. I liked the gritty tone of the OVAs, but I enjoy the colors of this adaptation. Far more in-line with the source material, and I love DIO's voice.

Just saw the first episode. Wasn't really sold, I bought both previous Joestars much more quickly. This episode was just so... abrupt? Pacing issues were whack. All of sudden it's evil spirits that and stands this and Dio here and whatnot. Jotaro is also... really unlikeable. Hope he matures as the series goes on. I like that the distinct animation style has been preserved, and Joseph continues to be awesome (although his Stand is a bit... WTF). Does this mean that Ripple has become defunct? I hope not, I think I preferred Ripple to totem spirits are whatever Stands are.

Think of them as psychic powers, and Stands make the Ripple irrelevant. I think Stands outclass Hamon, straight up.

Ripple is definitely not the focus in Stardust, you might see a few uses of it but it's all about the stands. And it's waaaaaaay more awesome because of it.

Maybe it was just the abruptness of it, I'll probably get use to them in time, but they just came in so quickly I think my suspension of disbelief got whiplash. I'll reserve final comment until I see a proper fight scene.

Yeah it does change really fast, it's pretty much "Hey, we are using these to fight now deal with it" but once the fights and the designs for the Stands start you'll probably like it better.
That being said the Stands design's in Part 3 are pretty plain and some of the powers are iffy, I'm trying not to compare Parts because this topic is just about Part 3.

It wasn't even a real fight, Stands will become much better once the fighting starts for real and crazy shit happens.

It's pretty much just exposition.

So was the persona series Heavily based off the 3rd Jojo?

Anyway its off to a good start,This jojo seems like an ass but i'm sure in time ill get used to him.I remember like a few years ago, Shonen Jump had a preview chapter of Part 3 Jojo. I'm glad the anime is staying faithful to the manga which is a good sign. Hopefully if Part 3 is successful maybe Parts 4 and 5 will soon follow.

Persona 4 and JoJo Part 4 are very intertwined. They pretty much have the same plot.
But the scene at the beginning of Part 3 where Jotaro shoots himself in the head and his Stand catches it and Persona 3 is probably no coincidence

Kenshiro's legacy consists entirely of "YOU WA SHOCK" and "YOU'RE ALREADY DEAD".

Oraoraoraora is more popular than Atatatatatatatata

Araki ripped (stands) off Umezu, anyways. Who in turn ripped it off of Italian horror flicks, apparently! Greatest form of flattery and all that.

Kenshiro's legacy is being post-apocalyptic Jesus and punching dudes so hard they explode, that's the kind of memory I'd want to leave behind
Also his fighting game is way better
EDIT: Well I'm never taking any images off the foolz.archive again, I apologize

No one knows but if we go beyond that, the title will probably change to make fun of the OP!

It can always be changed to 'Where in ZA WARUDO is Dio Brando?'
even though we know he's in Egypt
but hey, any reason to slap ZA WARUDO in a thread title.

Besides at worst it'll be 24 episodes due to BluRas and DVDs of anime series in japan now having 3 eps. per disc isn't it?

No one is worried about it being less than 26 episodes. The question is whether it's more than that instead. :P

.

And Yu-Gi-Oh.

The guy who created Yu-Gi-Oh made Yugi always wear his school jacket because Jotaro did it, plus the early art of Yu-Gi-Oh had the same style of Jo-Jo till it hit its own style around the Duel Monsters arc. Most of the Duel Monsters themselves resemble Stands too.

There's other similarities too, the obvious one being a certain fight later on in Stardust Crusaders that I'm sure people will catch.

Fuck I made a small spoiler my bad ^^;

Ugh if it will be, I'd hope they don't drag episode events like what they did with Part 2.

Just got around to seeing the first episode. It was great. So nice to have JoJo back. I'm really digging the Stands. Seems like the powers can get way more interesting.

I don't know if anyone knows this, but the manga is available again for part 3. I guess VIZ reprinted it along with the new anime. Perfect timing I would say :D

Well, the episode was so enjoyable although I mostly knew everything about it. Why there was no opening though :( I LOVE jojo's openings! I can't wait for that ruthless DIO to do some action, he's just so amazing.

Fun fact: Did you know that Dio Brando inspired the creator of HxH when designing Hisoka? AND. Hisoka inspired the creator of Naruto when creating Orochimaru? all thanks to DIO. :D

It's rather common for anime series to start with their first episode not having an intro or outro song/theme.

Surprisingly enjoyable. Hopefully we keep getting close to this level of animation; next fight needs it not to be confusing to follow.

Oh trust me, they start getting really bizarre.
