Damn, someone should put him out of his, put him out of his, put him out of his misery.

I think Radiohead is boring. How exactly is that stupid? Their songs are generally dreary, dull, and way too long.

I guess stupid is the wrong word choice, but I think a comparison can be made to films that work to similar degree.

Seriously though, listen to The Bends, its perfectly accessible, VERY ROCKIN, and has an extremely long shelf life.

that was my favourite radiohead album! except for a few tracks, particularly the horrific 'scatterbrain'.

i think what i meant was, people enjoy stuff for different reasons - sometimes to challenge themselves, other times just cos it has an awesome beat or something. stating the obvious, but basically just cos something is suposedly 'crap' doesn't mean its unlistenable. most of the time a catchy guitar line or something will keep my attention. what can i say, im easily amused :P i don't know what i'm arguing anymore!

I loved Scatterbrain :lol
But hey, I love
Electioneering

I don't feel all this stuff is unlistenable, but its a matter of preference that I try and focus my time elsewhere. Still, I'll give any band, LP included, the time of day. Their new single unfortunately does nothing to give me any hope the band has anything going for it though - really punchless.

:lol i knew it

yeah - i don't seek it out, but i dont mind it if i hear it. some of their stuff has been pretty cool but i find Chester's posturing in their videos almost unwatchable. he's just so damn tortured without a hint of humour or irony.

edit : wtf

Well, I'm usually uninterested in arty "good" movies, so there you go. I usually find them boring, depressing, or both. I'm an unapologetic fan of low art.

Hrm.... ok, why not.

Edit: Why isn't Radiohead on iTunes?

Not sure, they're a shrewd bunch. I'd also suggest watching Clueless if you feel like hearing stuff off The Bends, that film has like 5-6 tracks in it from the album.

Well, I just listened to the new CD.

It sucks.

If you wanted them to keep their old sound.

Seriously, I didn't think they would sound this different. Where as Meteora was looked down on for being too much like Hybrid Theory in that a lot of song structures and such sounded alike, this really is not the same band.

A LOT of people are going to hate it because of how different it is, but this will be a "grow on you" album. I'm already hearing RICK RUBIN SUX on some LP forums because of the 30 second samples that show this isn't going to sound like an LP album. It's not a heavy album and that is going to disappoint some people. Myself, I like the more mellow and melodic sound.

Listen to "Hands Held High" or "The Little Things Give You Away" *which is probably my favorite song on the CD) for proof they have started to move away from their old style of lyrics a little bit. Not completely, but it's noticable.

This CD is just amazing in my opinion. I'm on my second listen now.

I'm sure it won't make everyone who hates them fans, but whatever.

I enjoy it quite a bit, actually. Lyrics can be a bit too angsty for my tastes at times, but that's to be expected. I sort of grew out of Linkin Park there for a while, so they aren't the angst rawk gods they were to me when Hybrid Theory came out, but I can still listen to them and have fun because its catchy. They've definitely matured with this and have completely dropped the nu-metal shtick, which would have just got them completely ridiculed in 2007.

I just thought I'd post that. Now back to studying for my last final.

Holy crap, Ive been checking every 12 hours to see when it leaked.

30 hours ago I said "itll leak within the next 48 hours" and now it has.

I like it. However, I wish Shinoba were on more songs.

I guess I need to put this together with Fort Minor and hit shuffle for the full experience.

I love it. Every song is unique and interesting. The guitar solos are something new for the band and they are pretty awesome. Minutes to Midnight easily shits all over Meteora. My dwindling faith in Linkin Park is finally restored.

Not sure what my favorite song is yet, but Bleed it Out and Leave Out all the Rest are super catchy.

i liked in pieces a lot.

thing is i wish there was more of a mix. why cant they have this stuff and some of the good old yelling and hard riffs? i miss some of those....ive only listened to it once but i was hoping for a song like numb or breaking the habit. it could have been a nice mix of old and new.

i like linkin park but im not liking this album at all. i'll give it a few more listens before casting it to the recycle bin and im all for evolving the sound but they completely changed it. the rap is gone, singing has changed, tables/keyboards cut back and all the engery of the previous albums is gone. 80% of the album is slow and boring... **** hillary duff is heavier than this shit. This ones for grandma.

Can't say I like this new album. There's a few good moments, like the first part of "Hands Held High" and the ending of "The Little Things Give You Away", but I'm just simply not impressed with the rest of the album.

I really got into Linkin Park because of songs like One Step Closer and Crawling, and I stayed for songs like Numb and Breaking the Habit. But this album is so totally different and so much slower and softer that it really breaks everything Linkin Park has done before.

After hearing QWERTY several months ago I had hopes that Linkin Park's evolution would be going in that direction of a rougher motif, practically going into Death Metal. But their new sound just simply lacks the edge and complexity.

I'll give the album a few more listens to see if it grows on me but I'm seriously dissapointed thus far.

i like the songs 2 and 4, but i can't believe how shitty song 7 hands held high is. sounds a lot like r. kelly's "the world's greatest", which IS shitty.

LINKIN PARK IS ****IN CRAZY

GETS ME PUMPED UP LIKE A MUTHA****A

:lol I thought of the same comparison.

I really don't like Valentine's Day just for the line "I never knew what it was like to be alone ON A VALENTINE'S DAAAAAAAY"

Edit: Yeah, Bleed it Out is the shit.

woah woah woah, I thought linkin park was a band GAF would universally hate.

I'm so confused.

They do hate it. I believe if you go back a few pages youll see this.

Its just that the only people whove ehard it (ie posting now) are the true fans (which is why they procured the release)

not only is it not good, it's probably one of the worst albums in the last decade. Talk about a huge letdown

I kinda like it. Although it's like they took Linkin Park and mixed in some Dashboard Confessional, it's a different sound for them. Chester singing more is probably the oddest thing about it.

And Bleed It Out is probably the best song on there, IMO.

on my 2nd listen now and i still dont get the complete overhaul of the style.

these songs lack energy.....where is papercut? where is faint?

It's probably a love it or hate it type album - they completely changed their sound. A lot less screaming and much more singing and slower-paced stuff. Mike Shinoda is rapping a lot less and there's guitar solos now too.

I like it. Not really a radio friendly album like their past albums but it's pretty catchy IMO. Definitely worth a listen and it's growing on me with my 2nd listen.

On their respective 7 and 4 year old albums.

If you want Papercut and Faint, go listen to Papercut and Faint.

They can't keep remaking the same shit over and over.

I listened to the new album and I think it's very boring. most of the songs are average and nothing special :/ I miss the old times.

Wow. 5 pages devoted to phase music.

Are all of you 15? I hope not. I imagine if I was 15, I would listen to Linkin' Park. Then I would grow out of it and begin expanding my horizons. Seriously, if you are over the age of 15 and listen to this band you need help. You must have the intellect of a moron or have really, really low standards for music. Maybe you don't really care about music and that's it. Something that fills the time and you throw away at your convenience.

Anyway, I am shocked that five pages have been filled in this forum to some of the worst and shallow music known to mankind.

THERE'S the GAF we all know and love.

This thread is now complete.

*goes back to listen*

Who the hell are you to call someone a moron because they listen to a band you PERSONALLY do not listen to?

It's OKAY that you hate them.

It's NOT okay that you think people who DO like them a) are unintelligent, b) don't care about music, or c) need to expand their horizons.

I listen to a **** of a lot more than Linkin Park, but yes, they are actually my favorite band. Do you have some sort of issue with that? What SHOULD Linkin Park fans be listening to, exactly? If this is bad and shallow, what is the opposite of that?

All you did with that post was make yourself look ignorant and unintelligent, because you assume people who listen to a band you don't like are ignorant and unintelligent.

lolz itz 4 15 yr oldz.

Ironic that that statement comes from someone acting with the mindset of a 15 year old, no? I don't know about you, but once I was 16, I stopped calling people dumb for liking something I didn't.

lol ur dumb

I haven't listened to it yet, but all of this slow talk and shit has me wondering, is it like a My December type of sound or what? I loved that shit. :P

Dude what the ****??? First Spiderman 3 sucking and now this?? WHY?

I'm listening to this CD so pissed off right now. Just as I feared, the only good song on here is the first single, What I've Done. Bleed It Out is alright, but that's all.... Everything else... WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED? I've been waiting for this damn CD for what seems like 4 years.

Blah, ****. I'm upset. *gets drunk again*

I think if you liked My December, you'll enjoy this CD. Nothing sounds like that really, but there's a lot of really melodic mellow songs.

I think otherwise. I love my december but this cd is pure shit in comparison. There's a couple of okay tracks but overall it's a huge disappointment. They recorded a crap load of demos for this cd so hopefully they put out Minutes to Midnight 2: the unshit stuff asap.

It's not as mellow as everyone is saying, there are still some tracks that have their signature screams reminding us of their formerselves. Their mellow stuff is not particularly unique...you could probably have some other teen rock band pull similar materials (it's that much generic unfortunately).

Linkin Park seems to be finding its new identity and this album feels like they are experimenting and still haven't figured where they should go...hopefully this will lead into a much better 4th album.

That's just my initial impressions after listening to the entire album for about 3 times now.

Listening to it now. HUGE departure from their previous stuff. It's not bad, just not what you expect from LP.
LP fans will be disappointed due to it not having songs with any real energy.

I look forward to them 'Reanimating' it.

yeah, a lot of the stuff on here sounds like anything pumped out by random-emo-band (i hate that term) of the last few years. one thing about their old stuff, i could at least tell it was them .

but thats the thing.....linkin park did songs right. thats what i usually expect from them. high energy song.

oh well i like in pieces and some other songs a lot.

Linkin Park was the first band I listened to from the nu-metal genre....got me into a lot of other bands and while my enthousiasm for the band dwindled greatly over the years they always hold a special place in my heart.

Therefore I was pretty excited for the new material, but after listening to the album I was just thorougly disappointed...it really sounds like they took everything what made Linkin Park Linkin Park and threw it in the trash, then replaced it with bits and pieces of other bands and made some songs out of it that sound completely disjointed, boring and unappealing.

Now I know Linkin park never was a band of technical music wizarddry or incredibly well-written lyrics, but atleast it was fun to listen to when you're in the mood. Guess I'll be sticking with the first two CD's when those moody moments come again, cause this won't stay on my harddrive for very much longer.

Amazing how the music industry is just like the movie and game industry. Your going to have tons of elitest whiners who can't stand that people like stuff that they don't and they are going to go on a tirade until they change everyones mind.

I like the style of Given Up. With claps, and the Guitar rif, it's just cool.:)

Dear God I love Leave Out all the Rest!

Mmm. And Hands Held High makes me smile.:D

The Rock tracks on this don't really sound like Linkin Park. Kinda just generic rock. But the new style stuff is great. They kinda sound more like Sum 41 in this.

The Experimental drum beats are rad.
