Read it. Dont be afraid to be happy.

No.

Well at least you're taking your time with it, Wiseblade has rampaged through it and it has possibly frazzled his mind.

Yeah, his reactions were pretty funny at first, but then I tried to avoid them. I got a weird habit of setting the expectations too high because of that.

I kinda feel that way whenever people say they haven't read Berserk and Vagabond and stuff, mainly because of how huge they were, especially a few years ago.

I haven't read Vagabond yet. It's not even on my list.

Monster was awesome. Vagabond is in the queue. I'm reading it alongside Berserk but at a slower pace. Watched Mushishi anime.

@brotkasten: hey breh, I'm not sure how the numbering is going on in early berserk scanlations, so what's the latest thing that happened for you?

How many people here haven't read Vagabond, 20th Century Boys, Monster or Mushishi?

ShonenGAF confirmed.
Vagabond: Still reading
20th CB: read it, great first half, shitty ending
Monster: read it, loved it
Mushishi: read it, loved it

Do I get a pass?

Read Vagabond.

Haven't read 20th Century Boys (will get to that eventually).

Monster doesn't seem too interesting to me.

Read a little bit of Mushishi but greatly enjoyed the anime.

Monster is very interesting, as is Pluto. They don't seem much on the outside but they pull you in.

At least you have both read Vagabond, sublime storytelling.

Havent read Vagabond
Read a chapter or two of 20th Century Boys, difficult to follow, dropped.
Watched Montster up to episode 27, incomplete dvd release, dropped.
Never heard of Mushishi

Shame on you!

Regarding Monster, the manga is the way to go.

I'm recommending Mushishi then.

Vagabond is sooo good. It's so elegant and poetic, the storytelling is sublime, and the art is the best I've ever seen.
Takehiko Inoue really is amazing. With two of my favorite manga ever (Slam Dunk, Vagabond) he's probably my favorite mangaka.

The app on my iPad says the fifth chapter is next, but I'd have to look up the source. Vargas got executed, the little shit elf got captured and Gutts is running towards the castle to kill the count.

I recommend you put Vagabond on your list, even though it isn't complete. So, so good.

sigh

I think I know how the people on the gaming side feel about their backlog now.

ShonenGAF confirmed.

Only haven't read Vagabond and Mushishi, though I've read Pluto, which is easily one of my favorites.

I've tried Vagabond a couple times and never got past the first couple chapters. Happened the first couple times I went at Berserk too, though that clicked finally and I marathoned the whole thing.

Still can't see recommending it to a twelve year old. XD

I feel like Vagabond takes about 15-20 chapters before it really hits its stride. After that I was hooked.

ShonenGAF confirmed.

Haven't read Mushishi. Don't think I've even heard of it, unless it's that series about spirits or ghosts or something like that. In that case I'm just mixing up the names. Still haven't read it though.

Haven't read Yotsuba either, I'll put that on the list for a depressing day.

People who enjoyed Vagabond will probably like Takemitsu Zamurai. Either way it's a definite must-read.

Both are two of the best samurai manga I've read.

Angry Grimace

Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says "does something taste funny to you?"

ShonenGAF confirmed.

I put Vagabond on hold pending it's completion after we got news it was going to end, but then Inoue went on hiatus.

Monster I'm watching the anime because my wife wanted to.

20th Century Boys I've completed and found it quite disappointing, but liked the world building and build up.

I can't say I even know what Mushishi is, I'm afraid.

Yep a fair amount of us read , 1 of my favorite manga .
Love the anime even more.

On a side note i am sure a fair amount of us reading series and don't bother to post about them .
I know i do unless some on bring up the series .

Yea, the general consensus is to watch the anime than read the manga. One of my favorite series other than One Piece.

Vagabond: 1/4th of the way there. Great artwork.
Monster: Great.
20/21th Century: Should've ended halfway through the series.
Mushshi: Great artwork. Very chill.

OK, so I'm jumping into the ManGAF Book Club with the mentions of Sakamoto desu ga? last page and good God.

This is what I thought Medaka Box was supposed to be.

Medaka Box got worse after its genre shift. :stare:

Vagabond - I don't remember how far I got in it but I haven't read it in at least 2 years I'd guess. And with the news it's on hold I won't pick it up again probably until it finishes.

20th Century Boys - I think I read a few volumes of this then just never got back to it.

Monster - Read it all and watched the anime. Fantastic series.

Mushishi - Read one chapter that's about it.

I don't really consider 21st Century Boys to be that essential, I haven't read it anyway.

Daddy's first name is also unknown?

I always think this is cool, like how there are two Kill Bill movies where the brides name is not spoken by any of the characters until the very end on the second movie.

Yotsuba cheats by having everyone refer to the dad by his second name.

Who was the GAF poster who worked in a porn store, was banned for a year because he had a bet with God's Beard about Kobayashi?

I found Yotsuba when he mentioned his "favourite manga chapters" and I think the milk one was his chosen one.

And also I Am a Hero.

Pretty much. Though honestly, I prefer reading everything in chunks than week to week. One Piece is more or less all I've ever been able to stomach weekly.

I'm a good 40 back in a couple things I love (Beel, TWGOK, etc.) which is so very exciting. It's going to be quite the read.

ShonenGAF confirmed.

Haven't read Monster nor 20th Century Boy (the less Urasawa I read, the better) nor Vagabond.
Have read Mushishi, but while it's good, I find other works to be better.

7 Seeds sounds interesting but I need it selling to me.

First of all, 7 Seeds starts slow and it's a bit hard to get into, mostly because of the art and the somewhat unlikeable first character.

But, and I know it doesn't mean much based on my list, it's the best manga I've ever read. The arcs are really great and it actually rewards thinking and questioning the characters motives and plot points. It's really amazing and I know others will agree with me.

Beelzebub 195

"You got your ass whooped!" loved that comment in the last page

Bring on the next victim for Oga to clobber.

Kuroko no Basket 204

Already interested in the flashback, Kuroko's first arrival resembling his first time in seirin (with the book thing club anyway) was a nice touch. Hopefully we'll get a scene of all 6 members in their first match together.

World Embryo 9-55

Vaguely sure I just finished the first half of the series. Story is still interesting, if a little unnecesary with all the questions being popped up left and right. MC was actually cool especially during the fights when he gained the white hair and the sword (feel bad for his friend though). Rena is turning out to be a good character as she's actually useful in a fight and since thankfully she's not a completely unlikable Tsundere. Her mama scene's with Neene (who is still adorable) were great and provided some much needed laughs. Others like Takao fills the mean, swordwielding (anti?)villain role well, and Joe/Clara are good additions as well.
