Nowadays i don't watch anime but i confess that the things that had me interested in shirobako were panda's suggestion and a screenshot of a girl that explained how 2d animation was better than 3d animation because of key frames.

Angry Grimace

Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says "does something taste funny to you?"
That's fine. It's difficult to care about any show if you aren't invested enough.

That seems like enough time to figure out to make a judgment as to whether the anime in general was boring to me. If I watch anymore than that I'll finish it just for completeness sake, and that sucks when you're not having fun. Its like reading Bleach.

For me a lot of why I'm drawn to it is the characters. Like someone else said, they could sub this setting in with some other industry and I'd probably like it similarly, because the key thing is having likable, interesting characters. That they're also working on something that interests me helps, but it's not a be all, end all. It's more serious than something like Servant x Service or Working!!, but it's the same kind of thing at its core.

If the characters don't connect with you, then nothing else really is going to fix that. I have yet to come across a plot interesting enough to overcome boring, unlikable characters.

The Breaker New Waves

This fight is not over.
Sunwoo cannot let their leader get captured... again. What is 9AD going to do with Shiwoon? It's far too early for this series to end without resolutions on the kaiser as well as the illuminati. Besides, Shiwoon has yet to spend quality time learning martial arts without the threat of conflict on the horizon. Give him proper training time like everyone else to watch him blossom. Chundomoon's leader has to come in at some point and correct this situation.

Shirobako is good because it is a well written show about a large cast of adults moving through the trials and tribulations of their chosen profession. You don't have to like it but reducing it to "cute girls doing cute things" or "its only appealing because its about making anime" is either trolling or seriously missing the point/appeal of the show (again I'm not saying you can't dislike it). Not that some aren't interested in the show because of the insight into anime production it gives, however idealized, and the main 5 characters are cute by conventional standards but there a lot of actual meat to the show and many of the characters. It would still be a strong product if it focused on another profession.

On a unrelated note, given recent announcements and rumblings on Twitter, it seems like a lot of Space Dandy staff will be working on One Punch Man. At least from an animation perspective that property seems to be in good hands. I've never read it but the hype here means I definitely have my eyes on the series when it eventually comes out in October.

Hey mates.

I am diving into the manga world. Having only read Dragon Ball and Death Note, I'd say I'm quite clueless on everything.

I've watched a lot of anime though, and basically finishing Berserk has pushed me over the edge to start getting into manga. Berserk will be the starting point.

That first chapter was amazing!

Futari no Renai Shoka

Not recommended for those with diabetes.

lol @ thinking Kosaki is going to win. The whole goddamn manga is a series of stalling procedures en route to Chitoge's inevitable win.
I don't even like Chitoge, and I can't understand how anybody could see it any other way.

Berserk is a really good series to start with though. People ask for recommendations every day here so if you need some we'll give some.

Welcome~

Well, since you're rather new to the medium, I'd say just take it easy and read a bit of everything to see what sticks with you.

If you have any preferences don't hesitate to ask~

This, sadly. As much as like Kosaki to win this Raku shipping wars, with the way the plot only moves with Chitoge it really is a default Chitoge win. If it isn't, I really would be legit shocked.

I know right, "finishing" lol.

Footballgaf made some recommendations already which I'll look into afterwards, what was recommended:

Monster
Master Keaton
20th CB
Pluto
Homunculus
MPD Psycho
Ranma 1/2
Slam Dunk
Rough
Short Program
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
Blade of the Immortal
Fist of the North Star
Kare Kano
One Punch Man

And someone suggested I'd like anything by Naoki Urasawa or Mitsuru Adachi.

So I think I'm set for a few years Hahah

You've got a pretty good list. Just enjoy and try to not rack up too big of a backlog.

Jitsu wa Watashi wa addpation has been given a death sentence.

Jitsu wa Watashi wa directed by Yasutaka Yamamoto at TMS Ent. Series comp. by Kenichi Yamashita, character design Hirotaka Marufuji. http://jitsuwata.tv/

I will be crying in the corner while flipping off wonzo.

That character design...

Welp.

No sir I don't like it.

its nice to see a series getting the treatment it deserves for once ( ≖‿≖)

boo

Girl who I would enjoy winning: Tsugumi
Girl who I would be completely ok with winning and makes sense story wise: Marika
Girl who will probably win and I'm fine with: Onodera
Girl who will win if Raku turns into Shu: Ruri

Nisekoi could have been much better if he had made Tsugumi male as the initial character implied and then have one battling the others for being Ichijou's love interest.

Hey Karma's a bitch, the same thing could happen to Prison School.

The director is Seji Kishi. Oh God would I want this to happen just to see the reactions

see now thats not a laughing matter as prison school is a masterpiece of substance and truth unlike jitsu wa "void of all consequences" wa

We meet again, FootballFan.

Prison School. I am not screwing with you. you will thank mangagaf later.

Oyasumi Pun Pun as well.

Mob Psycho 100. same author for One Punch Man.

Manga thread not anime thread.

If it's an adaptation of a manga people commonly read like Gintama or JwWw then whats the problem

I dont understand why these series like to have bland to ugly character designs. It reminds me of the same issues I had with Jormungand. Ill end up watching probably but thus far there are no characters that really suggest the series is good or appealing.

This is how you know the character designs are good

Skip Ranma 1/2, pick either Maison Ikkoku or Urusei Yatsura from the same author.

The list is pretty good, there are no outright stuff you shouldn't read there. You might want to check out Kengo Hanazawa, Kaoru Mori, Inio Asano, Tsutomu Takahashi, Hiroki Endo, Usamaru Furuya, Fukumoto works too.

But you know, this is just about the similar list of popular works that get circled around over and over. I think it's only when you develop your own personal preferences that manga recommendations get much more meaningful.

Yep, exactly! Which is why I'll take it step by step and see where it goes from there.

Thanks for the recommendations.

It's pretty impressive to see Monster Musume always topping the charts when a new volume gets release.

And also, people always buying Nisekoi, wwwwwww
