Mario Kart World |OT| See that mountain? You can drive to it.

road design looks so boring
just identical branches of straight paths

hopefully the actual roads arent like that
It's just showing what connects to what. Actual tracks are nothing to do with that.

Been playing here for a bit. Knockout mode is the MVP. Best thing in a Mario Kart yet.

Don't believe these idiots at IGN, free roam is great, it's designed for you to develop your tech and master the more skillful bits of Mario Kart, someone said 100cc is a clusterfuck that anyone can win, that's just a skill issue genuinely.

This game is GOATED.
Thanks

Got my console delivered, but still waiting on UPS to drop off this game lol

Anyone having trouble loading their Mario Kart World from the download code? It's on my system but it says the Virtual Game Card is not loaded. When prompted it's asking me to get my OLED out and have them side by side. Then nothing. Anyone else deal with this?

I know the freeroam mode got criticised a lot by previews, but I love it.

it's reminding me of the free roam maps in JoyRide Turbo.

... can't find the final ! platform at Peach Beach tho 😓 I swear I looked everywhere. I expected it to be on top of the church, but doesn't seem to be

friend and I are trying to figure out how to play online with other people from our created room but we can only see options to play against cpus... surely we can play in online lobbies together? anyone figure this out?

This is taking forever to download! 😫

I'll be picking one up this Saturday so will wait and see what it's like for myself. Although some of the negative impressions make me wonder if that's why they priced it much lower when bundled with the console. Just a thought.

Yeah I dont like them, 3/4 tracks is essentially Rainbow road 64 from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (which people really didnt like the single lap thing for) such a weird thing to do to just give people single laps.

In MK8D one player had to join the online multiplayer lobby solo and after that friend(s) could join that online lobby via the friends list. Could be the same in this game.

How's your perception of graphics, does it look next gen?
Not sure how you personally define next gen. Its way more advanced than the OG switch if that's what you mean. Definitely next gen when compared to MK8.

Looks excellent in handheld mode, not tried it on the TV.

Side note. Knockout Rally online is chaos and utterly amazing.

I just won my first. That was an adrenaline rush

Well, actually something that would run on a PS4 Pro, maybe. It's not a really defined term honestly for the Switch 2.

MKW is bonkers. Exceeded expectations. The BR mode was wild. Free roam looks amazing, seemingly seamless and endless and is relaxing to play with challenges sprinkled throughout. Graphic detail is world class.

Game is trash, I got screwed out of a 3* cup by the blue shell hitting me in second even though I slowed so it would switch to first.

I've thrown my download code slip of paper out the window

Basically, you didn't do a System Transfer, so your OLED is still set as your primary Switch. So any digital games are automatically "assigned" to your primary Switch. In the new system of virtual game cards, you must move the game card to the newer Switch using the new management interface.

In the past, you could have a primary and secondary Switch, and the secondary Switch would only require a regular online check to keep your games accessible. This was better, IMO, than being able to only load a "virtual game card" in one place. Buried somewhere in your account settings, you can go back to the old way. And your Switch 2, your "secondary" Switch, will have all your games with only a regular online check.

Or make the Switch 2 your primary so only the OLED has to do this instead.

Edit: To clarify, from the home screen go up to select the profile linked to your Nintendo account, and find the User Settings section. In there you'll find "Online License Settings". Turn that on (on your secondary switch, to enable the online check/disable virtual cards)

Am I missing something, how do you just get to drive round the world? Which mode is it? Single player just allows gp, knockout etc

waiting for an Emu, lololol.

Don't crucify me

Played a couple hours this afternoon... game is great. There is a shit ton packed into this game and the BR mode is fun. They need to patch more things into the free roam part which seems to be more of an afterthought than anything... maybe events and quests are coming? I'm guessing this game is built to last years with updates.

First impressions:

I'm controlling a cow on a scooter with a GameCube controller! GOTF!

My Son pointed this out but there doesn't seem to be a way to play straight up Circuits, even in Versus every race is the race to the track and then the track for a lap, if there is a way to skip that initial race and do just the circuit, I cannot find it

The course design just feels so uneven here. There's some great ones, like Bowser's Castle, but Dry Bones Burnout has got to be one of the most boring Mario Kart tracks possible. Mega-wide roads, plenty of long straights with nothing to do.

In Knockout mode that's probably fine, but a good deal of the tracks just don't really hit for Grand Prix.

Now I'm a Penguin on a motorcycle!

I've only done two 50cc cups, but boy are the tracks wide and it feels like you need more traffic or obstacles during those straightaways. The metal musical track for Wario Stadium is great.

Knockout Tour is absolutely incredible, tons of fun. I won one, and have had some tragic losses in the others. Peak Mario Kart.

I cant believe its 180gb. Is the game world literally the size of the world or something?

It's 21.9GB.

Two more 50cc cups down, one as a bee on a Rob themed motorcycle and the other a Cheap Cheap riding in a Blooper kart. The third cup has the most interesting tracks so far and I loved Wario Shipyard which makes me pine for a new Wave Race. Some nice attention to detail on DK Pass as the fur on Stingby collected snow. It will certainly improve with higher cc races, but there does seem to be some missing opportunities like no obstacles using the half pipe on DK Pass but you do see NPCs skiing a little further down the course or they could have had some stage specific power-ups like an item that attracts the wildlife to a hit opponent on Faraway Oasis. I adore the music.

Eh?, i was literally just in another thread and someone said it was 180gb and they are going to leave their Switch downloading overnight.
Maybe they were downloading multiplt games or something lol. 22gb sounds about right.

Two questions:
  1. How do I do the boost on the countdown start of a race (on the 3,2,1,Go timer)??
  2. Also, what's the point of the rails? is there a benefit? i don't get why to use the rails?

1: shortly after the second light goes on

2: jumping off gives you a turbo, and you can jump directly onto walls without needing to charge a jump beforehand. so there are spots where you can rail grind around a corner and directly jump onto a wall. the jump onto the wall gives you a boost and the jump off of the wall too.
some rails also lead to shortcuts, or to wall rides which then lead to shortcuts

it's not really possible to be 180gb when the retail version has the entire game on a 64gb cart lol.

it's like 22gb

The battle royale mode is fucking amazing.

And all this damn characters are kinda hilarious, fish and cows and all kinds of shit lol
