From my experience it does except in a few instances:

There was a glitch with the first game where it didn't save your council ambassador decision so you actually have to make that decision again in the second game, it could contradict your original decision if you chose a different answer in the second game. There's also a couple or so instances where it doesn't take into account your decision in the first game, this could be patched though.

Awesome, thanks. There may be some problems, but that's probably still far better than my low expectations.

Edit
I just realized why they can't include which human you chose to join the Council: that decision happens after the last time you can save the game.

After beating Mass Effect 1 and 2 with female Shepard, its impossible playing a male shep playthrough.

His voice-over is so fucking robotic, dude lacks all conviction.

I keep reading and hearing about how people 'jump right back in' to see the other side of the coin, but I have no desire to that at all.

I want to watch/play the Mass Effect Trilogy once, so that I have a consistent canon built up. Playing another character kind of dilutes that for me, as when I go into the sequel, it makes me question what has actually happened in the world.

It cheapens the whole experience for me, I guess. It's a wankery thing to say, but thems the troof.

Different strokes for different folks. I like playing as Paragon FemShep and Renegade Male Shepard. The latter is my joke run, thanks to the voice acting and my habit of making him look like a douche (low brow, handlebar mustache, etc).

FemShep is my main and I can never play through with her unless I play it exactly how I want each time. I cant play Renegade Fem, and I cant change her class or anything, or it just feels wrong.

She's very special to me.

I noticed about halfway through the game that my facial scars disappeared. I didn't buy the upgrade to heal them either. Did I miss something, or did this happen to anyone else?

Well, it should be noted that...

A LOT of the stuff that we did in the first game is very lightly referenced in the second, hopefully the import feature will come to full light in the third. All the main stuff that you did in the first game is there in full force in the second, though. Although again, don't expect the story to revolve around what you did in the first game, but the main stuff that is referenced is sufficient enough for me.

Edit
I just realized why they can't include which human you chose to join the Council: that decision happens after the last time you can save the game.

Yea, BioWare mentioned that and said they had put a fix in. I guess that was their fix. It's good enough, at least it still puts that decision in the player's control.

maleShep does get an awful lot of hate. :lol I don't know, I always play a male for Paragon runs and the female Shepard for Renegade runs. Hale's voice just suits being an angry, aggressive, ruthless bitch, imo. Even when she's going Paragon she sounds like something's pissing her off.

Whereas MaleShep's voice is mellow and calm... although I guess it also sounds robotic.

Different strokes...

Also, P/R is not consistent between the two games, truth be told, perfectly following a 'Pure' character from the last game means mixing up your decisions quite often in this game.

And even then, the characters do not exactly match. They are both toned down and feel like different shades of the same person (like it should have originally been).

Alright so I don't really understand how AA and perf. works in the PC version.

I've upgraded to catalyst 10.1 and I still can't get any AA to kick in unless I set it in CCC and rename the .exe to UT3.exe.

Which is a hack and so I understand why my fps goes to shit when I set my edge-detect to 8x.

Has anyone gotten this to work correctly with an ATI card?

This game brings back the whole "alignment changes appearance" from the KOTOR series. If you're a paragon, your scars disappear. The e-mail from Chakwas that enables you to research the med bay explains that thinking "good" thoughts will heal the scars.

Really, the med bay only exists to allow Renegades who hate the scars to get rid of them.

But there is no option for paragons that want to retain theirs.

I just started playing, but I had downloaded all the pre-order items back when they were available on the Xbox Marketplace, Chitin, Blood Dragon, Terminus, Inferno... holy shit they all look awesome! I can't even decide which one to wear first.

Are their stats different aside from the % things in the description?

WHAT?!

End game troubles...

So I send Mordin as my specialist and as we meet up with the other team and are trying to close the door, he gets shot in the head and dies. I have everyone loyal and pretty much maxed out as is possible doing every side mission in the game, yet he still dies. Is there no way to stop it? How are you supposed to get the all survive achievement?

For one, by sending people to do the appropriate jobs. He makes no sense in that role.

I assumed that any of the available options would work. Should I just send Tali? I guess she's the techiest.

Yeah, send her.

Also, make sure the other member you chose at that moment is actually leader material.

I just stuck with Miranda. Is she wrong too?

Suggestions:

Vent: Legion/Tali
Leader (both times): Jacob/Garrus/Miranda
Barrier: Samara/Jack

Depending on your speech, may want to take Mordin with you to the final battle.

Welp just finished the game, the endboss felt a little tacked on, but whatever.

Great game

Last Mission Details:

Vent: Legion (Got shot in the head)
1st Team: Samara
2nd Team: Zaeed (Died)
Didn't have anyone escort survivors (I wanted as many of my guys to survive as i could)
Barrier: Jack
And then Tali just randomly died

Unless you send Legion or Tali, the specialist is pretty much going to die. Even if you send Legion or Tali, they may die if you don't pick either Miranda, Garrus or Jacob as your second team leader.

Yes, this stuff makes a major difference. Listen to what the people say you need in a job and pick a loyal person who fits that exactly. Not someone who kind of has the skill and you think is cool, or odds are that the person you pick WILL die.

Oh, and as we've determined: Don't listen to Miranda. Miranda is always wrong at the end.

I'm having trouble getting the last loyalty quest to activate....I can't seem to find any journal assignments left. What now? =(

EDIT: and by last one, I mean
before the IFF mission
.

What does she say? Wasn't her suggestion
for her to lead the teams? I used her for the team leader both times, no one died.

Legion
Miranda x2
Samara

Over, I actually didn't send out someone to escort people for some reason, I guess I needed to pick a different option somewhere ... so the Dr died, but she's an NPC and I can redo this.

just about to start, quick question:

in ME1, the sniper combat was god awful, you stand a mile away and slowly pick off guys for 15 minutes with no real threat to you. i'm thinking about picking infiltrator as my class, so 2 questions: is sniper rifle combat improved and are SMGs fun to use?

Quick answer: hell yes.

There was no need for snipers in ME1, ME2 they become useful. SMG's are a bit shaky for my liking, so I tend to not use them as much so I just use the heavy gun (as I did in ME1).

In ME1, maxed out, the sniper rifle was one of the best weapons in the game.

Its much better here though. In ME2 they've completely removed the weapon stat system. Whatever guns your class can 'use' are now based on player skill, like a shooter.

So yes, the sniper is fun to use and functions like a sniper in any other game, and SMGs are good fun too.

It's not just the 'newest' drivers... it's the hotfix that you want to install.

Turn on Catalyst A.I. as well. Apparently that helps too.

...which is exactly why I loved sniping in ME1. If you invested in the skill/the weapon, yeah, you could take down entire squads sitting atop a cliff half a mile away without worry of retaliation. Boring for some, but it made my Shepard feel more like the assassin I was playing her to be.

That said, sniping in ME2 is much more satisfying, though I can't quite put my finger on why. Possibly the bullet time effect.

Even without that, it is still fun.

Sniper rifles are just ridiculous in this game.

Its the Widow.

Slow down. Cloaked. BOOOOOOMMM. Dead. Party. Shepard. Wrex.

I really miss the Mako. Although I let my OCD lead me to hate it in ME1 (I was forced to play all the tedious side missions), now I realize it added a lot of atmosphere and a feeling of sprawling adventure. I would have appreciated it if it was in ME2. I feel cramped in this game, like I never really get to experience the feeling of being on an alien planet. Feels like the only tastes of that are the bitmap skyboxes and the usually very tiny landing areas in front of high-tech warehouse 56 or hallway-network 38.

I really liked the feeling of traversing the cold vastness of Noveria in ME1, getting to that lab. Really emphasized the remoteness and danger of that mission, and of exploring an alien planet in general. And that Halo-esque garden planet with all the water, the volcano-esque planet, that highway in the dilapidated city, etc. ME1 had some wonky exterior design, gameplay-wise, and could have used more points of interest, but I appreciated the added feeling of adventure they lent to the game.

Even the side-missions in ME1 added some mood, at least before I burnt myself out on all the filler. They were nice in small doses... crossing some weird lonely dusty planetscape, reaching the top of a dune and suddenly seeing an alien excavation outpost to snipe.... that other planet with the bizarre wildlife and spherical alien artifact... etc. I liked just landing on a planet and looking around at the vast skyboxes with moons and stars and such.

On the plus side, the interiors are now a hell of a lot more interesting than the 3 or 4 templates from ME1, they're very detailed and more varied. Overall, they probably funneled their effort in the right direction, as I did enjoy ME2 more. It's probably too much to ask for a game with this scope to have the kind of exterior and interior exploration my ideal space-opera RPG would have. It would have to be in development for 7 years.

I liked how the hub worlds in ME2 were greatly fleshed out. In ME1, the Citadel looked pretty, but seemed a bit sterile. The news reports, scenery, advertisements, and random chatter in ME2's hubs were great and added a lot of atmosphere. Loved the 'movie trailer' ad :lol

Though I miss the random squad interaction dialogue.

Even though things are much more "pretty" in ME2 they can be as sterile I think. I wish the Citadel was larger, and that certain things about the hubs were more exploratory. Being able to go around ME1's Citadel makes it more interesting than a small indoor mall, for example.

There is interaction with the characters, but you have to go to random locations and press space bar (or w/e button that is on the 360). I wish that Shepard would actually say something though, that's what I want ... not just random blurbs like they were in this game.

Yeah, I was definitely bummed when I realized I couldn't actually walk around the presidium. Also, the character interaction I missed was when squad mates would actually talk to each other. Like the "who would win in a fight, you or Shepard?" Wrex ones in ME1. They would also talk outside of elevators, too. I was expecting some tense dialogue between Tali and
Legion
and was a bit disappointed.

hateradio

The Most Dangerous Yes Man
Yeah, but those interactions were all scripted so you could say that it isn't a problem of the "interaction" as much as it is of the writing in this game. I mean, imo, the plot is really thin in this one, it clearly writing wasn't the focus :?
ME3 better be the second, third, fourth, and fifth acts!
of this.

Whenever I'm in a loading screen, I hear a heartbeat sound through the load screen. I must have hit a load screen while seriously injured and then the sound effect just got stuck.

i dont understand how ammo powers work. are they always on or do you have to activate them and they run for a limited time?

and you have to reactivate when you switch to a new weapon that you havent activated the ammo on yet that mission, after that you can switch back and forth with it equipped

i think the exception to this is the squad ammo powers they equip to all of your weapons
