with that one upgrade that lets you learn one of your loyal members skills (advanced training?), are you limited to one other skill?

Yes, if you purchase it from the research station again you get refunded the points you've spent in that talent.

say what now?
tell me more about this skill

Advanced training at the research station on your ship, allows you to gain a bonus skill, selectable from any one of your party members skills that are gained when they become loyal.
Such as Geth Shield Boost from Legion.

I'm unintentionally at the end of the game. Didn't realize that going to get
Legion
was going to give me only two more missions until endgame. I'm going for a full achievement run (minus Insanity) and I still have three loyalty missions to complete and two specialist achievements to get. I just finished
saving the ship with Joker and now the entire crew has been taken
. Can I go finish the game now and
save everyone
and still go back afterwards and get the rest of the achievements?

You're going to want to finish up those loyalty missions before proceeding to the end-game, for achievements if you care about those, but also for other things.

Damn, looks like I'm gonna have to load a save from four hours ago. That sucks.

FACK NAOOOOOOOOOO

GARRUS!!!!

GRUNT!!!!

So I'm guessing
Garrus was a poor choice for Tech Support (LOL) and Grunt died because I didn't max out Squad Armor
?

I am fucking devastated. YOU HAVE NOT DIED IN VAIN LITTLE
GRUNTY

I WILL AVENGE YOU!!!!

Those last bits (Mordin and Jack were my final team) where
basically anyone can die in the falling pedestals cutscenes
I was on my feet. Just so fucking intense. And with my favorite character no less!!

Not as truly epic as the end of ME1 but the stakes were SO much higher so I feel like I enjoyed it more.

What scene did you lose
Grunt
in?

And yes,
Garrus is terrible as a techy. You needed Tali or Legion, with a good second team leader (Garrus, Jacob, or Miranda) to protect them.

Grunt died at the second set of doors. Said he just didn't have enough armor.

:(

Mordin is the best character that Bioware has done in a very long time.

No, that would be Legion. Or maybe Thane. Oh wait no, Samara ! God, the entire cast of ME2 is great. Except from Jacob aka the new Kaidan :lol

Nope, I stand by Mordin.

The best: Mordin, Thane, Tali, Garrus, Legion

The worst: Jacob, Miranda, Samara, Grunt

This is just in writing quality mind you.

I think Grunt is very well written conceptually. But he doesn't lend himself to great dialogue.

That being said, beat this exchange, a direct result of the Grunt experience:

On Tuchanka
EDI: Thanks to destroying the Thresher Maw, Grunt has received several mating requests. Shepard has received one.
Grunt: HA!

Those are just the frills, I am talking about the core writing.

Mordin is well written because he has the superficial stuff down and has surprising depth (especially for a Bioware character).

You are right about Grunt being a great idea conceptually, but when it came to execution, they botched him up.

His story could have been one of identity and trying to overcome or embrace what he is and what Okeer wanted him to be.

Instead we get a few weak attempts and a kick-ass mission.

I don't know. His character really worked for me, and made the final mission truly amazing. If I hadn't connected with the character, it would have definitely suffered. So for me at least, Grunt was a very successful, great character.

My favorite Grunt line was when the elevator with a bunch of enemies was coming down on Thane's recruitment mission. It was something like, "We should probably get behind... stuff."

I don't why, exactly, but it was hilarious to me.

I'd rather have the nameless reject clone than Grunt. That would have been a great character.

Grunt is easily my least favorite Bioware character ever. So bland. So boring.

It depends on which characters are loyal. I
saved everybody with six loyal characters, and supposedly you can do it with only four.
But as long as
everybody makes it out alive
, yes you can go back to do anything you missed.

He's a kid, I don't see the problem with that. I loved his sense of 'humor' ("you just go do your human thing, Shepard.") and the way he becomes devoted to you is pretty heartfelt. I mean, he basically acknowledges you as the baddest motherfucker in the galaxy ("Shepard has no equal. He is my battlemaster.") and follows you, unquestioning. Morals? As he says, he doesn't care about any of that, he acknowledges how 'simple' his rage is and asks you to channel that aggression into something that matters.

I don't know, I thought he was deeper than what most give him credit for. It's like one of his earlier dialogues where he says that those who died to perfect him were stronger than him, because they died in search of strength whereas he came by it unwillingly, was bred for it with no work on his part at all. He doesn't really have an origin and Shepard becomes that parent-figure for him.

Grunt ain't bad. He's no Wrex, sure. But he's a fun character. He does have some good quips and his attitude is amusing.

"Yeah! Right on your ass!"

Same. It works so well because whenever you're playing the game and enemy encounters only pop in box warehouses or particularly rocky outdoor openings, you think to yourself "Good thing there's all this ...stuff... to hide behind"

Plus his welcoming into a tribe on Tuchanka was also, to me, quite a lovely heartfelt moment. I'm with you, buddy.

GRUNT DEFENSE FORCE FO LYFE.

Also, as much as I loved the theme that plays over the menu screen it is SO MUCH MORE AMAZING in context in the game.

That is some quality music...ing...stuff.

I love how prior to that, Grunt is all "man, humans talk too damn much" when you try to chat with him, and after the clan thing, he's like "HEY BATTLEMASTER SHEPARD!!@".

Grunt's adorable.

Seriously! He's just some weird, infantalized Captain Tuchanka. Sure he's no Mordin, but who is? Grunt is a fantastic addition to the ME Blastoverse.

I posted this in the other thread - but just wanted to ask here.

Starting an insanity play - run, what's the best class (or top 2 consensus) to do so.

So my game froze on me while I was about to start
Tali's loyalty quest
and when I restarted:
I was Joker and some random geth thing was attacking the Normandy.
Can someone give me some context towards that scene?

Question-

Is it okay to get Legion early - and then so some side quests other things/loyalties/getting other charactrs..

I remember I got him so late - he had new things to say even after I finished the game.

Yeah, believe me I'm totally pissed that I missed out. Thanks for telling me!

you might want to revert to a previous save though. seriously. after that particular mission, you have to rush through the rest of the game if you want to avoid further casualties.

That depends on how much
you care about your crew. The longer you spend betwixt the IFF and the I4 Relay, the more of them end up Collector Chow.

Just completed it, holy goosebumps mother fucker :D

What a fuck off epic ending, FF7 vibes all over. Thane died :( And i gave the ship to Cerberus. Didnt get laid either (nothing changes :lol ). But fuck, that was shit hot, loved it, and the reaper fleet incoming at the end just made ME3 wanted even more.

Cant believe i wasnt interested at all in this game until i finally pushed myself through ME1 a couple of weeks ago (which i ended up loving after trying to get into it about 5 times). Guess im a Mass Effect fan now (and BioWare, this is the first of there games ive played).

Also,
LoL Terminator

You kill the biggest threat to the Galaxy. What does that make us?

Oh yeah and the 2nd bug I found. If you're on a bridge and try to end a mission you will die.

I was on some Blue Suns side mission and just finished killing everybody. The 'Press B to End Mission' notice was flashing, but I saw some Iridium I needed to collect. I extended a bridge, picked up the Iridium, pressed B to end mission, saw the shuttle taking off and then I died!

What? How did that happen? That's like playing Mario Bros and the game freezes on world 1-1 then resumes in Bowser's castle.
You skipped an entire mission somehow.

damn glitch. grunt is loyal but he won't learn fortification, says he isn't loyal. i hope this doesn't affect the last mission :[
