Thanks.

Tried rebooting the console?

First...bitching T-Shirt man...yeah, I rebooted a few times, even gave it a break and made some coffee and still no luck. I am pretty sure you are screwed....I used my friends Cerberus card since he does not go online at all and it worked flawlessly, no issues first time through.

What is strange when I registered on-line it told me I activated the Normandy Crash site and thought i was good. When I used my friends card, it logged me in immediately. I even rebooted and when I logged back in no problem.

I need to email EA since these are worth 1200 points...I should be able to get another card from them or something.

People i need to know your squad.

Garrus and Tali a good combo (combat and story wise) ??

Is Garrus a must??

Argh so much to pin down before Fridays release!

He isn't quite as useful as he was in the first game since there are two other snipers now, both of which are also excellent characters (Thane & Zaeed). Those are the two I've been going around with lately, and I don't see that changing any time soon.

Plus, having two snipers after you've gotten a couple sniper upgrades is devastating. Those two just sit back and pick fools off. It's so fun to watch (that's right, watch, not even necessarily join in). I like sitting back and just ordering them around. I'll see someone out of the corner of my eye, and have Thane target him, and 1-2 seconds later he gets a bullet right to the head and slowly slumps down (headshots mattering greatly in this game). It's visually amazing. And the friendly A.I. has definitely seen a nice upgrade.

Having said that, it's good to switch things up for the diversity. Prior to getting Thane, I was switching around party members every mission. Thane and Zaeed are tough to let go, though.

This game was funny as shit too...

The soldiers on the citadel, the engineers of the ship were both classic.

The shopkeepers in the Citadel are great. There's one that laments having to deal with people who are "technologically illiterate", and goes on to say something like "they actually believe that a more expensive fiber optic cable results in greater speed than a cheaper one", an obvious diss against those who buy expensive HDMI cables.

Oh and by the way, even though I knew what was going to happen in the opening and after it, the
two years
thing was really a shock.

The
two years
thing ties into several other plot elements as well, such as the Citadel
(in those two years they've been rebuilding it).

I redeemed mine via the website before seeing your post.. haven't gone to see what happens.

Guess I'll go check it out.

So yeah, playing through Mass Effect 1 makes me realize ....well I really don't want to at this point and I wanna go ahead and DL ME2 on Steam.
I mean, is the character import really that substantial? I beat ME1 only like a few months ago, so all of the events/story is still fresh in my mind, so I certainly don't need a refresher in that regard.

Sure I regret deleting my prior save but I had an ultimately ugly female Shepard anyway (see my thread on GAF about it lol)

Let me know what happens....You would think since it is all linked that it would work, but for some reason it does not. I just emailed EA about it. Hopefully, I can get a new code to give to my friend in case he decides to go online one day and wants to use his code.

WARNING

DO NOT Redeem the Cerberus Network via the Website, or at least the 360 version. I did and now when I try to access the Cerberus Network from the game it keeps telling me that it has already been redeemed. Unless I am missing something rather obvious, I have not found a workaround for this issues.

On the DLC Content list, it only shows my Dragon Age Content, but none of the other. When I redeemed everything on the Website, it told me what it unlocked, but no matter what I have tried, I cannot log into the Cerberus Network from the Mass Effect 2 main menu.

Is everyone on the 360 having this problem? I'm just about to redeem my CN on the website for the Xbox 360 version. I was able to get the CE armor from the website to my 360 just fine, but I don't want to enter the CN code if their are any issues.

BTW..What difficulty are you all playing on?

Oh and Best Buy had about 6 extra CE at my store for the 360 and about 2 for the PC. So if you are looking for a CE, check your local BB.

So I just saw this at IGN:

January 26, 2010 - Part of Mass Effect 2's planned launch downloadable content (DLC) won't be available for a few extra days.

Bioware announced through its forums the mercenary character Zaeed will not be available through the Cerberus Network until Wednesday or Thursday of this week. The rest of the DLC, such as the Normandy crash, are still working, BioWare says.

The studio has had a bit of trouble as of late with downloadable content. Dragon Age: Origins' 'Return to Ostagar' DLC was abruptly removed from Xbox LIVE after appearing on the marketplace for only a few days. 'Return to Ostagar' is still not available for download.

...yet Zaeed was available on Bioware's site and I'm downloading now. Will it not work once I've downloaded it?

ah that sucks.. ea is notorious with stuff like this.. always having some type of problems.. DA was a total fail.. do other people on the bioware forum have this problem?

It worked for me Hawk. I saw the Normandy DLC download when I signed on..

Question about keeping your team intact.
what's the best way to make sure that nobody dies on the suicide mission?
Keeping everyone loyal? Does it matter who you pick for what team? How fast you do the mission? I lost 3 people in the first 2 parts so decided to go back and level up some more.

They're referring to the 360 and Xbox Live, I believe. I downloaded and installed Zaeed from the Bioware social site with no issues whatsoever. Have been using him ever since.

Too many people. Bioware is doing its best Konami impression lately.

where did you find it exactly?

When I loaded up ME2 I clicked on the New Content Available tab, which brought me to the Bioware Social site where it showed a list of all the content registered to my account. The downloads are exe. files.

I don't know what to tell you.

I didn't lose anyone and made it out alive without ever having to restart.

Zaeed was delayed only for the 360 version. PC version is available for download.

And there's a big issue with with registering codes on the Social Site, especially for PC users. Huge thread going on in the official forums.

I swear you need a strategy guide to deal with some of this EA social stuff. I have like four EA accounts now just because of all the different messes between Dragon Age and EA Sports titles. Fingers crossed that ME2 will even recognize that I own DA. My EA account has my DA stats (which haven't been updated for like two months, but hey whatever) and characters but it doesn't list anything under entitlements. Shrug. Have to wait three hours for Steam anyway. :/

Ah. So like Zeliard implied, it's a 360 thing then.

Well enough time spent on GAF. Time to head in to the game.

I dont get how it worked so well with DAO and can be so borked on ME2. Its the same account, same email, yet when I login in the game it doesnt recognize it and the key code isnt good anymore. And the best part about it is that no one on the social site has been able to get in touch with support.

no idea
i went back 4 hours and reduced casualties from 3 to 2(i think the last one has to do with loyalty
heres my experience

1st time through:

All crew loyal except Miranda (was about 80% paragon so couldn't save her, which sucked)
All ship upgrades except for the medical bay.
For the suicide mission I did:
Miranda leading the second team, Jacob in the tube. Jacob DEAD.
Then Samara leading the other team while Jack did the biotic shield. Samara dies WTF.
I sent the crew back with Mordin.
Put Miranda in charge of holding back collectors, Miranda DIES :sadface.

In total Lost: Jacob, Samara, and Miranda =/
I saved the collectors base, kinda shitty decision.

was pretty pissed,
really like Samara & Jacob as characters + female Shepard was loosing out possibly on some hot Miranda action next game. SO PISSED.

so I went back and did the last 4 hours again, but this time it took much longer because I mined until I got all the armor & weapon upgrades too (which unlike another poster didn't end up helping)

2nd time)
All crew loyal except Jack (not like I cared :lol )
All ship upgrades except for the medical bay, and all weapon & armor (EXCEPT final TECH/BIOTIC upgrades)
For the suicide mission I did:
Jack leading the second team, Legion in the tube. Legion DIES.
Then Jack leading the other team while Samara did the biotic shield. JACK dies HAHA PZ OUT.
I sent the crew back with Tali.
Put Miranda in charge of holding back collectors, she lives :)

Destroyed collector base, Illusive man pissed haha.

overall much better result, except Legions death which was a cool character/plot point.

Who did you use in the various parts of the final mission, and who survived? What upgrades did you do to the ship?

My stats were:
All crew loyal (despite aforementioned tiff with Jack that I rectified).
All ship upgrades except for the medical bay.
Most weapon/team upgrades except for the ones that required eezo (tech/biotics)
For the suicide mission I did:
Garrus leading the second team, Legion in the tube.
Then Miranda leading the other team while Jack did the biotic shield (didn't upgrade her Biotic as I didn't have enough eezo).
I sent the crew back with Mordin.
My levels didn't seem particularly high, but I didn't lose anyone.

My first time through I decided to save the Collector's base for Cerberus. Afterwords everyone seemed at odds with the decision, even the two Cerberus cheerleaders. I had a save at the beginning of the suicide stage so I ran through it again and blew it up this time. I like how pissed off the Illusive Martin Sheen was.

Someone on GF said:

1. Have all ship upgrades
2. Have all loyalty missions done
3. Have miranda always be in charge of the second team
4. Tali do the tech stuff
5. Mordin escort crew back to ship
6. Jacob in charge of the shield

Thing is:
I have all loyalty missions done but Tali wasn't loyal, used her for tech stuff - she died.

This game is amazing. The fixed all of ME1's problems while taking everything I loved about it and made it ever better. It's just ridiculously good , I won't go into detail for now but it's been pretty much the best thing ever so far. I can't wait for this shitty day to be over so I can get back to business.

Does anyone notice the sound/in-game audio cracking and popping on the 360 version while playing?
Kinda sounds like interference or something...it's driving me nuts.

No, it's not my setup because I tried three other games and they are all fine.
Could it be the amount of compression on the audio?

You tried Installing/Uninstalling the game?

Not sure if level matters. Loyalty does though.
Plus you need to make sure and pick the best people for each job. Legion in the tubes, Jacob leading the teams, Samara with the biotic shield and Garrus escorting the survivors. I did it this way and lost no one.

Garrus can lead too - I had him lead twice actually... I didn't trust Miranda to lead shit since many of my crew didn't like her. Morinthe pulled massive weight for me though. I had Jacob escort the survivors back.

Well I was able to redeem my cerberus network, terminus, and collector codes fine via the website for the Xbox 360 version. If some people are having problems it might be a luck of the draw kinda thing right now. :/
