So I as I begun Garrus' loyalty mission I went in knowing the choice I would make, but at the point were you chose I had to take a minute to think about what was right, what I would do in that position, and what Garrus wanted. And I never really put that much thought into a choice during my time playing ME 1 & 2. So that really stands out for me.

Also I didn't like any of the outcomes for Jacob's loyalty mission. I mean his father could have dealt with some things a bit differently but overall I think that the possible choices at the end paint him as an evil villian( unless I read them wrong or they playout differently from what I thought they meant) and I didn't see him that way.

Honestly, I did not remember a lot of those NPC and a few of them just felt out of place. The only one I missed was the Salari scientist working for Okeer, but only because I wanted to not let her get away that time. Other than that...

Jacob's mission was too short imo, they could have thrown in some more areas and padded out the whole theme a bit better, out of all the characters jacob was short sticked.

Uh, hogging all the non-toxic food reserves so he could keep a harem of docile females who, due to eating the toxic native plant life couldn't fight back... It looks like a pretty clear-cut case of monumental asshole to me. He took advantage of the situation to put himself on-top in a pretty depraved way.
 
Ah so, is Liara in this game pre-Lair of the Shadow Broker?

I'm hoping to do LotSB in post-game, but wanna know if tracking her for the first time is part of the core game, or if that initiates the DLC mission.

To start the DLC mission talk to her and select the option "Let's get the Shadow Broker" (should be the bottom left one). You might have to talk to her a bit first for it to appear. The other stuff with her is pre-ending and in the core game so go ahead and do about it however you feel like.

Well I mean I understand keeping the good resourcses for the officers so that they could maintain some order until help came made sence to me. The evil part was still him not activating the singing was bad, not arguing that.

If you do Shadow Broker first, I presume you skip her entire Illium mission?
 
I am playing Mass Effect 1 again and almost got all the achievements, I am missing completing the majority of the game with ashley and kaiden, I would of had it last playthrough but messed up and went to Vimiere to early but I love Mass Effect 1 and it's fantastic, I am just even more excited to do another playthrough of Mass Effect 2 with my Shepard.

I like both Shepards voices but Jennifer Hale does an amazing job.

No. The quests stay the same and you get them from the terminal in her office, I believe. The reasoning behind why you're doing them stays the same, but the actual quests don't.
 
Jesse Houston mentioned on the Bioware forums that he'd speak to the Marketing department to see when they could reveal the next DLC. Hopefully soon.
 
Just had the Conrad Verner bug where he acts like I was a hardass in ME1 (I'm Paragon).

A bit of a shame, but nothing that breaks the game.

Wonder why Bioware never patched this and the Besieged Base glitch. Did they ever address this?

Knowing how EA's price drops seem to follow a pattern, give it two months. Although I'm sure EA knows people are expecting it to drop- so they may not for a while.

That's... weird. It seems rather unnecessary especially after you finish Shadowbroker. But oh well.
 
Finished the game yesterday. Incredible experience but to me the game's biggest shortcoming is the lack of actual plot progression.
There's the Collector threat and the goal early on, but in between all you're doing is recruiting, recruiting and more recruiting. Don't get me wrong, those missions are often great, but there's not much core plot development between the early missions and the final ones.

This game had way more characters and party members I got to care about though. Not every loyalty mission was good, but overall they were the best part of the game. Mordin's genophage quest may be my favorite one.

Kinda bummed out I didn't get the team achievement at the end of the game.
I sent Jack as leader of the diversion team and she got herself killed, even though she was loyal to me. I should've picked a leader type like Garrus right? Also, it seems that if you don't go into the relay right away, people (e.g colonists) die. Does that make a difference or is it only your core team that has to survive?

I didn't expect to have any trouble with it, but it seems there a lot of variables here. Which is a pretty insane effort on Bioware's part.
 
So I'm thinking of playing Mass Effect 2 again and I'm looking over the classes and none of them look as fun or fulfilling as Vanguard. Adept looks useless since so many enemies on the higher difficulties have armor and shields which block biotics. Sentinel's big draw looks like Overload and Warp but I could probably just use Miranda. I've played Infiltrator before and the cloak was kind of a gimmick and thinking about it can't really think of many situations where I'd need to be invisible since the damn thing goes down the second I start shooting though I could be convinced otherwise. Engineer sounds like it could be fun, any thoughts on that? Or any of these really, I'm open to suggestion. If not I'll probably just roll Vanguard again and shit on everything in my path.

Yeah,
Garrus or Miranda for leader, Jack or Samara for biotic support, Talhi or Legion for hacking the valves etc..
The way their roles fit for the objectives, they also HAVE to be loyal.

I honestly thought Mordin's loyalty mission was one of the best done along with Garrus. Mordin is probably one of the more interesting characters because of it, I had a real hard time arguing against what he did to the krogan. Miranda also seemed to warm up to me a lot, but maybe that's because she was smoking hot. ;)

Playing again right now as a Vanguard, very different to the playstyle I'm used to but it's neat-o. I really liked Sentinel because of the ability to control the fight through biotics/tech. The tech armor is also a real life saver, has saved my life many times. Saves you when you're in the red, and the knockback basically wipes out husks so you don't get raped. The infiltrator cloak also adds damage, don't forget that, and also allows you to more easily flank. If you like using a large variety of powers, Sentinel is probably your best bet on harder difficulties. I did just manage to just spam Warp through the latter half of the game, so good.

I actually had no idea how to judge Mordin and his actions. On the one hand, he did the right thing, but on the other hand, he committed an atrocity. I just chose to stick to the middle ground in his case, and have him keep the Genophage data as well. If a cure would ever be needed, we'd at least have the options.

And yes, Miranda is smoking hot. Just like her voice actress (and model).

I've tried some other classes, but I always end up going back to Vanguard. The ability to charge head-first into a group of enemies and send them flying in all directions is just so awesome. That, and the fact that Charging actually recharges your Barrier as well, make it too awesome.

I just replayed the final mission and now
Legion died, most likely because I lost his loyalty after his fight with Tali! This is soo annoying. I don't know if I can regain him somehow, I'll try talking to him before the final mission.

You can regain his loyalty when you have a very high Paragon/Renegade score. But I don't get why would you replay the mission? Some friends of mine did the same thing again and again until they got everyone through. I for once just played and lived with the consequences.
 
So I've got all the DLC for ME2 now which do I play during game and which do I play post game?

Also are the attainable DLC characters which aren't on "disc" able to join the final mission?

Pretty much all DLC is playable from the get go. Only the Shadow Broker DLC has different dialogue if played post game though. Personally, I did everything before the end and Shadow Broker after.

On the disc you got Kasumi as a new squad member plus when you enter your Cerberus Network code you gain access to some more free DLC one of which is Zaeed which is also a squad member. That brings the total to 12 recrutable people.

Thinking of doing a replay with my paragon Shepard on Insane, but is it really as hard as I hear? Like, not rewarding but downright frustrating and no fun?

Some fights are frustrating, but that's only 2 or 3.
I thought it was pretty fun, you have to think a but more about which powers and squadmates you'll need.

It depends on the class. Vanguard might seem severely gimped, but it really takes a completely different approach than on lower difficulties (ie, not charging headlong into a group of enemies). Adept, on the other hand, is going to cause some serious headaches in many sections.

Yeah, I agree. On my first and only playthrough as a male Shepard,
my Garrus died after I sent him through the pipes I believe, and I didn't bother doing the suicide mission after the crew got kidnapped and I didn't let anyone escort the remaining crew. The ship is kind of lonely now and after learning that Garrus' mother has a cancer-like disease and that he tried to send his sister money in Lair of the Shadow Broker, I feel even more guilty for letting him die and I miss him. Oh, and I didn't blow up the base.
I'm staying with those consequences. On another playthrough, I'll go for everything.

I feel like running through it again as my Paragon Sentinel Female Shepard on Insanity but the thought of
reuniting with Kaiden in Horizon is making me cringe and it was awkwardly done with my male Shep reuniting with Ashley. It was something about hearing the line "I never forgot that day" that made me cringe.

On another note, I played through LoTSB a couple of weeks ago and thought it was awesome and it was very well done and it made me like the ME2 cast a little bit more, especially a couple of certain characters.
The hidden camera footage of Al-Jalani getting punched and kicked during interviews was hilarious. What wasn't funny was her making out with an Asari.
 
I don't want to spoil the experience (or end up having to watch it twice) so I'm holding off but I'm shocked at those comments. A lot of them believe it's not accurate, a lot is gotten wrong, etc. That's weird.

Yes it may take some practice, but insanity is actually good for the vanguard. Enemy protections keep them from flying back too far after a charge. On the one lower level difficulty Vanguard I made I maxed Shockwave before anything else.

I also like adept on insanity. It's easier to tear through protections than most people think. The basic cadence of a fight is singularity, teammate warp/overload x2, warpsplosion, chain warpsplosions. Sprinkle in some arc projector and you have a stew going.

An AR Viper soldier is the best sniper in the game. A Viper soldier will also have the Revenant which is one of the best weapons in the game. You will still have access to teammate powers. It gets crapped on a lot, but the soldier class has its benefits.

If I have the time I'm feeling another playthrough coming on.
Also, kidney stones.

The comic does recap Mass Effect events, but it's a shame that it does it so superficially. The comic is shallow, there's no in-depth information about anything. What is genofage and why would Wrex even argue about not destroying Saren's base? Why should Shepard not kill Rachni Queen? What are Geths? Why is Udina considered to be a jerk, and Ashley a space racist? What is Cerberus?

I think it gives no more info (or maybe even less?) than the "Story so far" movie from the demo :/.

Is there a choice of narration or is it male shep only? Dialogue and art is a bit iffy but it gets the job done I guess, couldn't help but laugh at "energetic little quarian" with a picture of Tali in a rather bizarre standing position.

It's taking liberties with the original material, glossing over things and removing depth that's for sure, I don't think it mentioned the Geth once for example. Also makes the
Rachni appear like complete dicks.

That's why I think it was a good loyalty mission, it actually made me think a lot and I wasn't sure if the Paragon choices were actually Paragon choices in my head.
 
Wow that comic....talk about dry and lifeless. It feels so awkward to have all of the events described so quickly and with no emotional attachment, "just the facts" style. If there was ever any doubt that PS3 owners are truly getting shafted that just ended it in my eyes. I don't think it ever even mentioned the word Geth, nor were most of the actions taken explained very well. It almost seems like it would be hard to follow that if I didn't already know the story inside and out.

If you're a PS3 player I'd expect to spend the first chance you get reading every codex entry to understand the universe and characters better, to be honest.
 
I don't mind that the comic skips planets like Feros; I don't mind that the comic alters events slightly; I don't mind that it cuts all sorts of corners. They have to tell a story we experienced in 20-40 hours very quickly to people who are (in theory) totally new to the universe.

What totally, totally bugs me is how the comic doesn't seem to give anyone enough information to make any of the game's major choices, which is kinda sorta THE ENTIRE POINT OF THE DAMN THING. The Rachni choice is the best example: The only reason to save the Rachni, the race of merciless killing machines that terrified the galaxy and forced your team into a long and brutal firefight just to reach the Queen, is because the Queen says she SWEARS she won't cause any trouble anymore, honest she won't! Really? Seriously?!
 
I'm hoping fem Shep does the narrative for the comic as well.
It does a decent job at explaining the story but is a far cry from actually experiencing ME1.
 
How easy is the easiest mode in ME2? My wife really wants to get this game for the story but I have no interest in playing the combat sections for her. Is there any chance that someone with zero FPS/TPS experience could possibly beat this game on their own?

Probably not. There is a TON of shooting gameplay and it ramps up towards the end.
