MGS5 - "Snake won't really speak much at all. More of a silent protagonist."

Haha, love this.

He said he wanted to push the salary of the voice actor, not that he was more expensive than Sutherland.

Stop spreading bullshit.
Please sit your ass down and chill.

I may have misremembered it exactly but he said himself he was too expensive. And considering how shitty a VA hayter is I tend to agree. He is too expensive when they could hire a celeb/decent va. Hayter is neither of those. Stay mad.

This doesn't make much sense. Big Boss is pretty outspoken. I know he goes through some shit but "silent protagonist" seems a little out of character no? Has to be a budgeting issue.

Wow, talk about "staying mad"!

You were called on your bullshit. That's it. No need to get angry about it.

That's a hell of a different thing than "Hayter is more expensive than Sutherland." Don't try and act all cool because you fucked up.

I think you missed these Big Boss lines:

"Chico, keep it down!"
"Chico, calm down... Calm down... Don't fight it." At the end of this line, it sounds like he whispers/sighs "there" too - but there is no subtitle for it. But you can hear it.

And then after this we get.

"I got Chico"
"Not here"
"Pretty sure"
"Hold on... not gonna happen."

Keifer is gonna deliver. I have a feeling. I quite like this new direction.

Loved the delivery in those scenes.

Why would I be mad? Sutherland is snake

Pretty sure I just stated that I believe I misremembered so I'm not sure why you feel a need to be indignant.

Word.

I am liking how the lines are delivered.
I find it kinda funny how people are saying not to judge the gameplay off Ground Zeroes but quite a few are happy to judge the amount of lines Big Boss has, regardless of what Kojima has said.

I'll have to wait and see but outside of the lack of codec calls (disappointing), the amount of dialogue that Big Boss will have will probably be about the same as MGS3.

I'll take Keifer over Hayter anyday though. I never liked Hayter's VA abitlies.

Hayter's voice went well with Snake's campy lines. He'll always be Snake to me. In the Deja Vu missions, whenever Keifer says a MGS1 line, it sounds completely wrong

The less Keifer, the better. I really didn't care for his performance in Ground Zeroes, he just sounded so uninterested. .

Pretty much. Like he doesn't even give a shit. With Hayter you could always tell he was having a blast playing the role.

I'll leave my judgment for the final product...

That said, I think this is stupid. I play MGS games because I enjoy the character of Snake / Big Boss... And I think most people in the fanbase agree with this assesment. We care about the characters and the mythos behind them.

I don't play it to roleplay a random soldier, or to feel like I'm Big Boss... I play them because I'm interested in Big Boss`s story, his specific outlook on things. Part of the main appeal of finally bringing the Big Boss story arc to a close is precisely to show how he became the antagonist, and having him as a silent avatar kinda defeats that purpose... And that whole thing about his emotions expressing trough motion capture and fine facial movements, I don't buy this... I don't expect an open world, mission based game to be able to tell a story by having Big Boss look moody in cutscenes, sorry for being sceptical.

Then there`s a fact they fired an actor people loved and that was the voice of snake to undersuse `a famous actor that asks for way more money, which makes it even more stupid.

People who haven't seen stuff from actual great writers/directors think Kojima is a visionary auteur genius who deserves to win oscars for his work. That's the only reason they defend the Sutherland switch with so much fire. They're incapable of thinking Kojima could be wrong or that he seems to be obsessed with being loved by American media/critics.

It's bizarre to me to say you love everything about MGS except Hayter, who was integral to all of it. Every other actor, including Vamp's, Hal's, etc. are fine? Do they think Hal's actor is tremendously better than Hayter? MGS has always tried to have a balance between comical elements and seriousness, 5 looks the same in that regard. To claim Hayter would ruin the tone (but not every other previous voice actor) is silly.

Exactly, the majority of this people are not MGS fans they are Kojima fans.
