Safe ? A full-on-action Final Fantasy ? Man, that's the opposite of "safe" (something which was reflected in the not-so-good sales).
Also : Amazeballs OST, beautifully rendered and extremely likeable characters, some of the best (if not the best) voice overs in a Japanese game without the usual "huh ?"/"what the...??" and moans ad infinitum cliches featured in every JRPG, buttery smooth controls and DMC-lite combat system - there's lots to like here.
Its main "problems" are the low difficulty and the not so stellar performance.
You may not like it but to call it mediocre...yeah

I hate to be a downer but if Xbox is not getting Rebirth till 2026 and we are celebrating this news, that is emblematic of the entire Xbox generation.
Where was the leadership? These games shape a generation. Silent Hill 2, Rebirth, Wukong, Baldur's Gate 3. All of these games should have made Xbox at launch, there is only lack of leadership to blame. For example, you may say "there was nothing he could do" but was not BG3's delay due to the parity clause? A leader could easily make an exception.
If Xbox had kept their quality up we would not be worrying about PC right now. Consoles would be healthy.

Not the best, but I enjoyed it. Don't bother buying the DLC. They don't add anything worthwhile to the experience and makes the game drag on too long.

Yeah I enjoyed the game a lot, I loved the darker, more mature direction they took with it

Did Square Enix not get the memo that Xbox is going third party? If they’re expecting another three million sales from Xbots who have been conditioned to not buy games because of Gamepass, then they really need to see a doctor.

It's the most boring AAA game I ever played.
It's not even a true RPG. Just an action game with oversized HP sponge enemies. And let’s not even get started on the mind-numbingly bad and painfully boring side activities
Oh and the dude walks so fucking slow. Terrible game-design
