Naughty Dog under Hennig was a lot of fun. UC (especially 2) was such a great time, and one of the key 3 games that IMO, saved PS3 and potentially Playstation.
But under Druckmann, I don't feel quite the same. It started off good, but pretentiousness and getting stuck in one category has been odd. Having 2 titles remade numerous times has been odd. Working on Factions for seemingly half a decade only to abandon it seems odd, and this game just doesn't look like it will strike a cord for myself, personally.
The game looks like it was a direct blend of Guardians of the Galaxy, Cyberpunk, and a few other titles. Lacking real originality and pushing branding almost to a comical point. It seems to be going for a souls like approach, which has become a bit of a trend and a mixed bag one at that. Game and character design look... forgettable and unrelatable... and also look strangely similar to what he seems to solely prefer in his recent titles. The vibe is cool, but space vibes in modern games are starting to multiply and dry up the freshness. This game also looks rather far away. It looks somewhat stale and safe. I will give him credit for expanding past the typical apocalyptic action or treasure hunting adventure rut of the last 6 titles, but that isn't enough to outweigh the negatives for me.
Meh. Not impressed.
